Business Manager`s Comments
Business Manager’s Comments Dear Brothers and Sisters, August 2013 Dear Brothers/Sisters: We are now half way through another summer and the employment situation remains quite strong. The solar farms, namely Beckwith, Alfred, and Smith Falls will all be well underway as we enter September. Within our jurisdiction we still have close to 100 travelers on many different job sites. I would like to welcome Robyn Brett Electric, a newly organized contractor to IBEW Local 586. Robyn Brett Electric is primarily a residential contractor whom has been in business as a nonunion contractor for the past 40 years. They employ on average a crew of approximately 10 electricians and apprentices. Organizing the non-union sector will always be my top priority. When we are successful at organizing non-union employers, it translates into employment opportunities for each and every member to enjoy. Kurt Metz and John Harrison have done a masterful job making sure the non-union journeypersons and apprentices understand they have a true choice when asked to sign cards and unionize their respective employers. Let's collectively continue to be the very best at our trade. Hard work and reliability are two vital ingredients to our success, both individually and collectively. Our contractors depend on our labour to be second to none. I have no hesitation whatsoever in saying we are exactly that - SECOND TO NONE! Enjoy the rest of the summer with friends and family. Sincèrement, James Barry Gérant d’Affaires et Confrère IBEW Local 586 - 1178 Rainbow Street, Gloucester, ON K1J 6X7 Tel: 613-741-5664 Is your dues receipt included with this newsletter?
