It’s all Greek to me: The roots and evolution of Greek systemic thought and its applications
The aim of this presentation is to highlight the experiences and practices of Greek systemic
therapists which were cultivated for half a century. Theoretical conceptualizations, ongoing
longitudinal research, clinical work with groups, families and individuals, community work and
training of professionals, which were woven in the canvas of Greek history has connected us to our
cultural roots; to classical Greek thought as well as to the recent everchanging socioeconomic and
psychosocial patterns of family and community life.
The wide lens view of an integrative frame of mind in the context of an experiential, dialogical and
interactional approach has led us to magic ANDs which can accommodate the multiplicity, plurality
and fluidity of contemporary life into an inner sense of coherence and can promote
constructivepersonal and collective purposes and commitments.

ςυςτθμικϊν κεραπευτϊν που καλλιεργικθκαν εδϊ και μιςό αιϊνα. Θεωρθτικζσ ζννοιεσ,
ςυνεχιηόμενεσ διαχρονικζσ ζρευνεσ, κλινικι δουλειά με ομάδεσ, οικογζνειεσ και άτομα,
παρεμβάςεισ ςε ευρφτερεσ κοινωνικζσ ομάδεσ και εκπαίδευςθ επαγγελματιϊν, που υφάνκθκαν
πάνω ςτον καμβά τθσ ελλθνικισ ιςτορίασ, μασ ςυνζδεςαν με τισ πολιτιςμικζσ μασ ρίηεσ - τθν
αρχαιοελλθνικι ςκζψθ κακϊσ και με τα πρόςφατα ςυνεχϊσ μεταλλαςςόμενα κοινωνικοοικονομικά
και ψυχοκοινωνικά μοτίβα τθσ οικογενειακισ και κοινωνικισ ηωισ.

It’ s all Greek to me: les racines et l’évolution de la pensée systémique grecque et ses
applications
L’objectif de cette présentation est de mettre en exergue les expériences et les pratiques des
thérapeutes systémiques Grecs qui furent cultivées depuis un demi-siècle. Les concepts théoriques,
les recherches longitudinales en cours, le travail clinique avec des groupes, les familles et les
individus, le travail en communauté et la formation des professionnels qui furent tissés sur le toile
d’histoire grecque, nous ont reliés à nos racines culturelles, à la pensée Grecque de l’ère classique
ainsi qu’aux motifs socioéconomiques et psychosociaux toujours changeants de la famille et de la vie
de communauté.
La vision elargie qu’offre le cadre intellectuel intégrateur dans le cadre d’une approche
expérientielle, dialogale et interactionnelle nous a conduits à des et magiques qui peuvent donner
un sens de cohérence à la multiplicité, la pluralité et la fluidité de la vie contemporaine et peuvent
promouvoir des buts et des engagements constructifs, personnels et collectifs.
