REP Group Acquires Watson Brown HSM GmbH
REP international, leader in the rubber injection molding machine
with the head office being located in Lyon-Corbas, France, has just
concluded the acquisition of the patented HSM devulcanization
technology on an exclusive right basis, as well as the devulcanization
center Watson-Brown HSM-Berlin. This center is equipped with an
operational devulcanization line and a test laboratory operated by a
team of 6 persons.
Bruno Tabar, CEO of the REP group announces that "REP
International will carry on with the development of the HSM
technology, its implementation in the center of Berlin and promote a
sales offer of devulcanization machines and a devulcanization service
on the international market with compounders and processors".
A resolutely promising eco-process
Watson Brown HSM Berlin becomes so far the 7th subsidiary of the
REP group, the 6 others being involved in the sales and after-sales of
REP presses throughout the world. This take-over confirms REP's
readiness to extend their offer, as accentuated through their new
corporate baseline "Rubber in motion". Aiming to work beyond the
injection of rubber and devoted to the tradition of innovation at
customers' service, REP has developed a technical and commercial
partnership with Watson Brown HSM the purpose of which is to
devulcanize rubber production scraps and reintroduce them into the
production chain.
After a series of validation tests conducted in REP's customer plants
it was established that the process is technically performing and
economically efficient. That's when REP decided after many years of
collaboration to integrate Watson Brown HSM in their group.
But what is the HSM devulcanization process?
This patented process applies to any kind of uncontaminated rubber
production waste. Once the compound is devulcanized, it is
reintegrated into the basic compound. This results in significant
savings on both compound and waste disposal costs.
What do the activities of Berlin's center consist in?
Berlin's devulcanization center is equipped with a laboratory to run
tests on samples intended for customers who are willing to test the
process based on their own compound, so as to validate the
properties before running industrial HSM tests. The existing
capacities grant the center the ability to service all customers who
want to devulcanize and reintegrate their scraps back into
production, in order to substitute them for one part of the basic
compound, resulting in a drop in operating cost.
For companies interested in implementing the tests, a few kilograms
of scraps will be sufficient to conduct the lab tests resulting in data
on the elongation, tensile strength and rheology of the samples.
After the test, the customer receives back the processed compound
for assessment. It is then possible to conduct production tests to test
the final parts on an industrial scale.
From the devulcanization service to the series machine
REP relies on their industrialization
capacities, their experience and
geographical international presence to
develop the commercialization of HSM
machines. The HSM structure and its
components being very close to those
of a press, REP has the capacities to
industrialize and manufacture these machines.
Watson Brown has developed a patent for devulcanizing cured
rubber. Controlling the strain applied to the compound by the HSM
machine causes the rubber to be devulcanized by preserving
properties which are very close to the initial compound.
With the acquisition of the intellectual property and the plant of
Watson Brown in Berlin, REP is developing a devulcanization
machine offer intended for compounders and rubber processors in
addition to the existing devulcanization service. Taking the green
path towards responsible production; making upgraded scraps
become raw material!
This is a 100% thermo-mechanical process without adding any
further substances or chemical agents and is performed at low
temperature, in order to prevent the characteristics of the
devulcanized rubber from being altered.

Le groupe REP rachète Watson Brown HSM GmbH
REP international, leader de la presse à injecter le caoutchouc dont
le siège est à Lyon-Corbas, France, vient de conclure l’acquisition de
la technologie brevetée de dévulcanisation HSM à titre exclusif,
ainsi que du centre de dévulcanisation Watson-Brown HSM-Berlin.
Ce centre est équipé d’une ligne opérationnelle de dévulcanisation et
d’un laboratoire d’essai, exploité par une équipe de 6 personnes.
Bruno TABAR, président du groupe REP, annonce que « REP
International poursuivra le développement de la technologie HSM,
sa mise en œuvre dans le centre de Berlin, et promouvra une offre de
vente de machines à dévulcaniser et un service de dévulcanisation sur
le marché international, auprès des compounders et des
transformateurs ».
Un éco-procédé résolument prometteur
Watson Brown HSM Berlin devient ainsi la 7e filiale du groupe
REP, les 6 autres assurant la vente et l’après-vente des presses REP
dans le monde entier. Avec ce rachat, REP confirme sa volonté
d’élargir son offre, comme le suggère par ailleurs sa nouvelle signature
corporate « Rubber in motion ». Non contente de se limiter à
l’injection du caoutchouc et fidèle à sa tradition d’innovation au
service de ses clients, la société REP avait développé depuis
quelques années un partenariat technique et commercial avec Watson
Brown HSM dans le but de dévulcaniser les déchets de production
en caoutchouc et les réintroduire dans la chaîne de production.
Après de nombreux tests de validation en clientèle, la preuve a été
faite que le procédé est techniquement performant et
économiquement pertinent. Ainsi, après plusieurs années de
collaboration, REP a décidé d’intégrer Watson Brown HSM à son
groupe.
Mais qu’est-ce que le procédé de dévulcanisation HSM ?
Ce procédé breveté s’applique à tout déchet de production en
caoutchouc non contaminé. Une fois la matière dévulcanisée, elle est
réintégrée dans du mélange vierge. Cela permet de réaliser des
économies significatives sur les coûts matières ainsi que sur les frais
d’évacuation des déchets.
Watson Brown a mis au point un brevet sur la dévulcanisation du
caoutchouc. En contrôlant la contrainte appliquée par la machine
HSM sur la matière, on parvient à dévulcaniser le caoutchouc en
préservant des propriétés très proches du mélange d’origine.
Ce procédé est 100 % thermo-mécanique sans adjonction d’une
autre substance ou agent chimique et est réalisé à basse température
afin d’éviter une altération des caractéristiques du caoutchouc
dévulcanisé.
Quelles sont les activités du centre de Berlin ?
Le centre de dévulcanisation de Berlin est équipé d’un laboratoire
pour effectuer des essais sur échantillons destinés aux clients désirant
tester le procédé sur leur propre mélange et en valider les
caractéristiques avant de mettre en place un essai sur le HSM
industriel. Les capacités existantes permettent de fournir une activité
de service pour tout client désirant dévulcaniser et réintégrer ses
déchets en production afin de les substituer à une partie du mélange
vierge et faire ainsi baisser son coût.
Pour les entreprises intéressées par la mise en place de tests,
quelques kilogrammes de déchets suffisent pour faire des essais en
laboratoire qui fournissent des données sur l’élongation, la résistance
à la rupture et la rhéologie des échantillons. Suite aux essais, le client
reçoit de la matière pour évaluation. Il est ensuite possible d’effectuer
des essais de production pour tester les pièces finales en
configuration industrielle.
Du service de dévulcanisation à la machine en série
REP international mise sur ses capacités
d’industrialisation, son expérience et sa
présence géographique internationale pour
développer la commercialisation de
machines HSM. La structure HSM ainsi
que ses composants sont très proches d’une
presse, il sera donc aisé pour REP
d’industrialiser et de fabriquer ces machines.
En acquérant la propriété intellectuelle et l’usine Watson Brown de
Berlin, REP entend développer une offre de machines de
dévulcanisation à proposer aux compounders et aux transformateurs
de caoutchouc en complément du service de dévulcanisation existant.

REP international, führendes Unternehmen in der Herstellung von
Gummispritzgießmaschinen mit Hauptsitz in Lyon-Corbas, Frankreich,
hat
nun
den
Erwerb
der
patentierten
HSM
Entvulkanisierungstechnologie
mit
Exklusivrecht
sowie
des
Entvulkanisierungsstandorts
Watson-Brown
HSM
in
Berlin
abgeschlossen. Dieser Standort ist mit einer voll funktionsfähigen
Entvulkanisierungsanlage und einem Versuchslabor ausgestattet und wird
von einem 6-Personen-Team betrieben.
Laut Bruno TABAR, Geschäftsführer der REP-Gruppe, wird "REP
international die HSM Technologie und ihre Umsetzung am Standort in
Berlin weiterentwickeln und auf dem internationalen Markt ein
Verkaufsangebot für Entvulkanisierungsmaschinen und einen
Entvulkanisierungsservice bei Compoundern und Verarbeitern fördern".
Ein ausgesprochen erfolgversprechender Öko-Prozess
Watson Brown HSM Berlin wird somit die 7. Filiale der REP Gruppe.
Die anderen 6 sind für den Verkauf und Kundendienst der REP
Spritzgießmaschinen weltweit zuständig. Mit diesem Erwerb verfolgt die
Firma REP ihr neues Firmenmotto "Rubber in motion", d. h.
kontinuierliche Erweiterung des Angebots. Über den Rahmen der
Gummiinjektion hinausgehend und dabei ihrer Tradition der Innovation
zugunsten ihrer Kunden treu bleibend, hat REP seit mehreren Jahren mit
Watson Brown HSM eine technische und wirtschaftliche Partnerschaft
entwickelt, deren Ziel darin besteht, Kautschuk-Produktionsabfälle zu
entvulkanisieren und wieder in der Produktionskette einzusetzen.
Nach zahlreichen Validierungstests in Kundenwerken liegt der Beweis
nun eindeutig auf der Hand, dass das Verfahren technisch leistungsstark
und wirtschaftlich stichhaltig ist. Somit hat REP nach einer
Zusammenarbeit von mehreren Jahren beschlossen, Watson Brown
HSM in ihre Unternehmensgruppe aufzunehmen.
Was ist das HSM-Entvulkanisierungsverfahren?
Dieses patentierte Verfahren kann auf alle nicht kontaminierten GummiProduktionsabfälle angewendet werden. Nachdem die Mischung
entvulkanisiert wurde, kann sie wieder in die Ausgangsmischung
eingebunden werden. Dadurch können erhebliche Kosteneinsparungen
sowohl im Hinblick auf Materialkosten als auch Abfallentsorgungskosten
erzielt werden.
Watson Brown hat ein Patent zum Entvulkanisieren von Gummi
entwickelt. Durch die Kontrolle der von der HSM-Maschine auf die
Mischung ausgeübten Beanspruchung wird die Gummimasse
entvulkanisiert, wobei Eigenschaften aufrecht erhalten bleiben, die der
Ausgangsmischung sehr nahe kommen. Dieses Verfahren ist 100%
thermisch-mechanisch, ohne Zugabe von sonstigen Substanzen oder
chemischen Mitteln und erfolgt unter niedrigen Temperaturen, so dass
die Eigenschaften des entvulkanisierten Gummis unverändert bleiben.
Worin bestehen die Tätigkeiten des Entvulkanisierungszentrums in
Berlin?
Das Entvulkanisierungszentrum in Berlin ist mit einem Labor ausgestattet,
in dem an Mustern Versuche durchgeführt werden können. Diese sind
für Kunden bestimmt, die dieses Verfahren mit ihrer eigenen Mischung
testen möchten, um deren Eigenschaften zu bestätigen, bevor ein
Versuch auf industrieller Ebene erfolgt. Mit den existierenden
Kapazitäten kann ein Serviceangebot gemacht werden an alle Kunden,
die ihre Produktionsabfälle entvulkanisieren und wieder in die Produktion
einschleusen möchten, um einen Teil der Ausgangsmischung zu ersetzen
und dadurch Materialkosten zu reduzieren.
Für Unternehmen, die an der Umsetzung von Versuchen interessiert sind,
reichen schon ein paar Kilo Abfälle, um die Versuche im Labor
durchführen zu können, aus denen Daten wie Dehnung, Reißfestigkeit
und Rheologie der Muster hervorgehen. Nach den Versuchen erhält der
Kunde die Mischung zur Auswertung. Anschließend können
Produktionsversuche erfolgen, um die endgültigen Teile unter industriellen
Bedingungen zu testen.
Vom Entvulkanisierungsservice zur Serienmaschine
REP verlässt sich für die Vermarktung der
HSM-Maschinen auf ihre industriellen
Kapazitäten, ihre Erfahrung und ihre
internationale Präsenz. Die Struktur der HSMMaschine und ihre Komponenten sind denen
einer Presse sehr ähnlich. Daher ist es für REP
leicht, diese Maschinen zu industrialisieren und
herzustellen.
Mit dem Erwerb des intellektuellen Eigentums und des Werks Watson
Brown in Berlin wird REP nun ein Angebot an Entvulkanisierungsmaschinen für Compounder und Kautschukverarbeiter entwickeln, das
den bereits existierenden Entvulkanisierungsservice ergänzt.
Ein Schritt weiter in Richtung einer saubereren und verantwortlicheren
Produktion. Auf dass aufgewerteter Abfall zu Rohstoff werde!
