Professor Gérard Sensevy University of Western Brittany, France I have been a schoolteacher for 20 years (1976-­‐1996) and became maître de conference at the IUFM de Bretagne (now University of Western Brittany) in September 1996. I have been involved in the scientific study of the teacher’s activity, in a didactic perspective, didactics being defined as the general study of teaching and learning process, necessarily specified to the knowledge at stake in the studied activity. After my habilitation à diriger des recherches (defended in January 1999, professor of educational sciences at the IUFM de Bretagne in 1999), I have developed a comparative approach in didactics. My work is grounded in this approach and the theory of actions, this work being nurtured by relationships with other disciplines of social sciences. This enabled me to produce conceptualizations and empirical studies, within an international collective, which lead me to the development of a theory, the Joint Action Theory in Didactics ( JATD). I am member of the editorial board of the Journal Education & Didactique and co-­‐director of the research series Paideia (Presses Universitaires de Rennes). Selected Publications Book Sensevy, G.
