RIFUGI
I rifugi che si trovano lungo il sentiero dello Spirito non sono gestiti.
Hanno un locale sempre aperto per le emergenze, mentre occorre
prenotare il ritiro delle chiavi dei locali chiusi.
QUANDO ANDARE
Il periodo migliore per percorrere l’intero sentiero è quello compreso tra la metà di maggio e la metà ottobre.
DOVE DORMIRE, DOVE MANGIARE
I centri di Sulmona, Caramanico Terme, Roccamorice e Serramonacesca, tutti toccati dal sentiero, offrono numerose possibilità di

Refuges
In the refuges that visitors find along the Spirit Path there is not a staff.There is just a room open all year
round for the emergency, while if they want to stay in the other rooms they need to book the keys.
When you can do it
The best time to pass through the whole path is from the middle of May until the middle of October.

The path reaches spots like Sulmona, Caramanico Terme, Roccamorice and Serramonacesca, that

Les refuges
Dans les refuges du Sentier de l’Esprit il n’y a pas de personnel. Ils disposent d’une chambre ouverte
toute l’année pour les situations d’urgence, tandis que pour les autres chambres, fermées à clé, il est
nécessaire de réserver la clé.
Quand le parcourir
La période la plus favorable pour parcourir tout le sentier c’est à partir de la mi-mai jusqu’à la mi-octobre.

Les villages de Sulmona, Caramanico Terme, Roccamorice et Serramonacesca, traversés par le sentier, offrent

Sulle tracce del Santo Eremita che divenne Papa
Il Sentiero dello Spirito (66 km) è uno dei grandi trekking del Parco. Un ideale viaggio sulle tracce
dell’eremita Pietro Da Morrone, futuro Papa Celestino V, che scelse proprio gli anfratti della Majella
per il suo percorso di fede. Il sentiero dello Spirito parte dalla frazione Badia di Sulmona (segnavia
bianco-rosso e sigla S) dove è d’obbligo visitare la grande Badia Celestiniana e l’eremo di S. Onofrio;
il sentiero poi sale gradualmente fin quasi in cima al Monte Morrone, passando per l’eremo di S. Pietro e i resti di S. Maria. Dalla vetta della Montagna una lunga discesa conduce al borgo termale di
Caramanico Terme. Il giorno successivo si percorre quasi per intero la splendida gola dell’Orfento e
dopo una breve sosta ai ruderi dell’eremo di S. Onofrio si risale lungo la ripida e ombrosa Rava dell’Avellana. Giunti a Pianagrande si può scegliere se pernottare al Rifugio “Di Marco”, oppure scendere al bellissimo eremo di San Giovanni. Il terzo giorno, tra fitti boschi di faggio e capanne in pietra
a secco si prosegue in direzione degli eremi di S. Spirito e San Bartolomeo nel comune di Roccamorice. L’ultima tappa tocca gli eremi di S.Angelo a Lettomanoppello e S. Onofrio a Serramonacesca e
si conclude nella vicina Badia di S. Liberatore a Majella. Il Sentiero dello Spirito può essere percorso
anche a singole tappe, visitando gli eremi più belli attraverso brevi escursioni giornaliere.
TAPPA 1 / STAGE 1 / 1er ÉTAPE:
Sulmona – Caramanico Terme

Durata / duration / durée: ore 7/8 ore
Tappa impegnativa che scavalca per intero la montagna del Morrone e che tocca tre eremi; si
può dividere la tappa in due giorni pernottando al Rifugio Iaccio della Madonna, sotto la cima
del Monte Morrone.
It’s a demanding stage that crosses the whole Morrone mountain and reaches three retreats.The stage can be divided
into two days and visitors can stay at the Iaccio della Madonna Refuge under the summit of Monte Morrone.
C’est une étape difficile qui traverse toute la montagne du Morrone et qui arrive à trois ermitages; on peut diviser cette
étape en deux jours, en passant la nuit dans le refuge Iaccio della Madonna, au-dessous du sommet du Monte Morrone.
TAPPA 2 / STAGE 2 / 2éme ÉTAPE:
Caramanico Terme - Rifugio “Di Marco”

Durata / duration / durée: 6/8 ore
La prima parte della giornata si svolge lungo il corso del fiume Orfento, che si abbandona progressivamente per risalire nel pomeriggio a Pianagrande, dove si può pernottare al Rifugio “Di
Marco”.
Visitors can spend the first part of the day along the Orfento river and then, in the afternoon, they can climb up to Pianagrande, where they can stay at “Di Marco” Refuge.
La matinée se déroule le long de la rivière de l’Orfento, puis, dans l’après-midi, on s’éloigne de la torrent pour remonter
jusqu’à Pianagrande, où on peut passer la nuit dans le refuge “Di Marco”.
The Spirit Path is one of the most important trekking of our Park. It’s an ideal journey on the tracks of the hermit Pietro Da Morrone, who became Pope Celestine V and chose a winding mountain like the Majella for his
course of faith.The Spirit Path starts from Badia di Sulmona (AQ) (white-red stripe and letter S), where the big
Badia Celestiniana and the retreat of Sant’Onofrio are worth a visit; then the path climbs gently to the top of
Monte Morrone, passing the retreat of San Pietro and the ruins of Santa Maria. From the summit of the mountain a long descent reaches the spa of Caramanico Terme (PE). During the second day visitors can pass through
almost the whole wonderful gorge of Orfento and, after a short rest through the ruins of the retreat of Sant’Onofrio, they can climb up the steep and shady Rava dell’Avellana. Once arrived at Pianagrande visitors can decide to stay at the “Di Marco” refuge or to reach the beautiful retreat of San Giovanni. During the third day
visitors can reach, passing through close beech woods and dry stone huts, Roccamorice, where they can visit
the retreats of Santo Spirito and San Bartolomeo.The last stage reaches the retreat of Sant’Angelo in Lettomanoppello and the retreat of Sant’Onofrio in Serramonacesca and it ends in the next Badia di San Liberatore a
Majella.Visitors can choose to pass through just one of the stages of the Spirit Path and visit the most beautiful
retreats in day hikes.
Sur les traces du Saint Ermite qui devint Pape
Le Sentier de l’Esprit c’est une des randonnées les plus importantes du Parc. Il s’agit d’un voyage idéal sur les
traces de l’ermite Pietro da Morrone, qui devint Pape Célestin V et qui choisit une montagne riche de grottes
comme celle de la Majella pour son parcours de foi.
Le Sentier de l’Esprit part du village de Badia di Sulmona (AQ) (bande blanche et rouge, lettre S) où la grande
Abbaye Celestiniana et l’ermitage de Sant’Onofrio valent la peine d’être visités; ensuite le sentier monte doucement jusqu’au sommet du Monte Morrone, en passant par l’ermitage de San Pietro et par les ruines de Santa
Maria. Depuis le sommet de la montagne une longue descente conduit à la localité thermale de Caramanico
Terme (PE). Le deuxième jour on traverse presque entièrement la merveilleuse gorge de l’Orfento et après une
petite pause aux ruines de l’ermitage de Sant’Onofrio on remonte le long de la raide et ombragée Rava dell’Avellana. Dès qu’on arrive à Pianagrande on peut décider de passer la nuit dans le refuge “Di Marco” ou descendre jusqu’au fascinant ermitage de San Giovanni. Le troisième jour, en passant à travers des hêtraies épais
et des cabanes à pierre sèche, on continue la randonnée vers les ermitages de Santo Spirito et de San Bartolomeo dans la commune de Roccamorice. La dernière étape passe par les ermitages de Sant’Angelo a Lettomanoppello et de Sant’Onofrio a Serramonacesca et elle se termine dans la Abbaye di Santo Liberatore a Majella.
On peut décider de parcourir une seule étape du Sentier de l’Esprit en faisant une excursion d’une journée pour
visiter les ermitages les plus spectaculaires.

Tappa bellissima e non faticosa tocca gli eremi più belli del Parco. A fine giornata si può trovare alloggio
in contrada Macchie di Coco oppure in Contrada Collarso (AgriturismoTholos-www.agriparktholos.it).
It’s a wonderful and easy stage that reaches the most beautiful retreats of the Park. At the end visitors can sleep at Contrada Macchie di Coco or at Contrada Collarso (Tholos Agritourism - www.agriparktholos.it).
Il s’agit d’une étape fascinante et facile qui arrive aux ermitages les plus spectaculaires du Parc. Pour la nuit on peut loger

Onofrio di Serramonacesca. Un’ultima breve discesa conduce alla Badia di S. Liberatore.
