De script io n archit e ct urale : Everyo ne who has dealed with the reno vatio n o f a listed building like this, has co nfro nted a lo t o f difficulties in o rder to achieve the requirements and needs o f a XXIth century familiy. The're hard legal restrictio ns to prevent damages to the cultural values o f this kind o f buildings. Nevertheless the develo per and the architects' team fo und this issues as an extra mo tivatio n to design a highly energy efficient building with great cuts o f energy co nsumptio n values. Fo r example at the façades the interventio n had to be based o n a lo ng search o f the best insulatio n o ptio ns fo r the interio r layer, o n the co nstructio n and design o f new do o rs and windo ws based o n the o riginal design and with the o riginal materials but with great insulatio n values; and o n the inclusio n o f high perfo rmance glass types. The accessibility o f all the gro und flo o r spaces was also a go al to achieve so that everyo ne can enjo y the great to ur thro ugh the green spaces that ends at the huge vertical garden o f the rear co urt. It wo rks with the dry wall pro files in o rder to create a very effective clo sed air chamber - There are new timber carpentries with the o riginal design in o rder to make them able to carry insulated glazing (with air o r argo n chamber depending o n the cases) - The ro o f has been designed with a XPS 12cm. thick layer - And the gro und flo o r has been co nstructed o ver a cavity system basis that creates a clo sed air chamber. In additio n there is also a MDF bo ard plus a ro ckwo o l layer.
