Mobile Data Core –CCNP/CCIE Network Engineer - Job Profile
Job desription
We define, plan, order, engineer, test and implement the Data Core network elements
and features related to Mobile Data services (Mobile Internet, Intranet, WAP, Remote
LAN, Blackberry,…) and this in accordance with the network security guidelines. In
particular, this concerns the following network elements: SGSN, GGSN, CSG, SCE,
Charging Gateway, DNS, RADIUS, Firewalls, Intrusion Protection systems, Load
balancers and DMZ equipment. We design complex solutions and recommend technical
business strategies fulfilling broad business requirements. We also assist project
sponsors and project managers to provide detailed project objectives, system
requirements and cost-benefit analysis. We have design engineers within different
technical domains and complex technical issues.
Function
- Design, define and realize new Mobile Data Core solutions and features that match the
requirements of our internal customers and external subscribers.
- Develop and execute acceptance test plans for new network elements, services and
features in order to guarantee superior network quality.
- Monitor existing network capacity, plan necessary extensions and lead installations.
- Investigate and answer technical questions and escalated problems related to our
network technologies and services.
- Provide technical support to other teams and departments.
- Provide detailed and comprehensive technical documentation (work pack, visio, flows,
...)
- Define, document and implement new (or optimise existing) processes across technical
domains that will improve the service delivery towards other departments.
- Provide technical on-the-job training to newly hired engineers and technicians.


Education:
-Master or equivalent by experience.
Experience:
Expert in Mobile Data Core Network Infrastructure (> 5 years experience).
Key Technical skills:
- Excellent LAN/WAN Routing & Switching skills (including routing protocols as BGP &
OSPF)
- Significant expertise in a wide-range of ICT technologies and in-depth knowledge of
mobile data protocols (Radius, DNS, Diameter, LDAP, GPRS, UMTS, GRE, L2TP,…) and
devices (GGSN, CSG, SGSN, SAE GW,…)
Technical skills:
- Proven knowledge in following protocols: IP, TCP, UDP, GPRS, UMTS and SIP.
- Knowledge of MPLS protocols & deployment
- Knowledge of and experience with server systems (Linux, Solaris, Windows etc...)
- Understanding of virtualisation technologies (VMware, Solaris 10 zone, firewalls,
routing etc...)
- Proven experience with various network management and tracing tools
- Strong troubleshooting skills to solve complex problems across various technologies
and domains
- Software testing methodology.
- Strong knowledge of Business Continuity methods and technologies
- In-depth knowledge of and experience with load-balancing technology
- Experience with WLAN hotspot technology is an asset
- Experience with Mobile IP is an asset


- CISCO certification is an asset
- Security background: proficient in methodologies and hands-on experience with the
necessary tools & technologies (Various Firewalls Cisco/Juniper, IPS, scan tools, logging,
network authentication tools and protocols (i.e. dot1x) etc..)
