srednjovjekovni grad krčkih knezova Frankopana i

More than three millenia of its existence were marked
by several important epochs: ancient Senia, medieval
town of lords Frankopan of Krk and an uskok (locals
who attacked from ambushes; pl uskoci) stronghold.
Uskok fort Nehaj stands above the town as a permanent
reminder of its glorious history. It is one of the best
known symbols of Senj which gives a unique view over
the town, islands and hinterland.
Über dreitausend Jahren des Bestehens, der Stadt
wurde von mehreren wichtigen Epochen markiert:
prähistorischen, antiken Senia, mittelalterliche Burg
der Frankopans und die Hochburg der Wegelagerern.
Als dauerhafte Erinnerung an die glorreiche
Vergangenheit steht über der Stadt Nehaj - das Fort
der Wegelagerern, eine von bekanntesten Symbole
der Stadt Senj, von dem man einzigartigen Blick auf
die Stadt, die Inseln und das Hinterland hat.
In die Straßen von Senj ist die Geschichte von dennen
die lang bevor uns gingen gewebt: der Wegelagerern
die sich im Schutze der Dunkelheit bewegt haben,
der Schriftsteller und Dichter derren Senj ständige

kroatische Schriftsteller und Dichter damaliger Zeit
gelebt, in Erinnerung an sie hat man die Büste in dem

There is a story woven into the streets of Senj. The story
of those who walked here long before us: of uskoci who
moved around under the cover of night, of poets and
authors who found Senj to be an endless inspiration.
The most famous Croatian authors and poets of their
time were born and lived in Senj, busts were set in the
Park of poets to commemorate them.
Those who only know Senj for its bora will be amazed by
numerous hidden beaches, thick forests that surround

Sveti Juraj

urističko naselje Sveti Juraj nalazi se u zaljevu
između brda Gradina i otočića Lisca. Na starom
groblju uz more mogu se vidjeti ostaci opatije i
crkve Sv. Jurja, a u blizini su i ostaci crkve Sv. Filipa i
Jakova. Na ovome mjestu život neprekinuto traje od
rimskog doba. U centru se nalazi gradsko kupalište.
Uvečer prošećite uz mirnu lučicu i uživajte u ribljim
specijalitetima uz šum mora.
Na kratkom potezu uz magistralu između Senja i
Svetog Jurja nalaze se uvale Spasovac, Ujča, Vlaška,
Planikovac, Kalić i Grabova, a od Svetog Jurja prema
jugu Rača. S kućnim ljubimcem posjetite uvalu Vlaška
u kojoj je uređena plaža za pse. Sve uvale pogodne su
za obiteljski odmor u prirodnom ambijentu, daleko od
gradske buke.
Sveti Juraj poznat je po proizvođačima najboljeg
cvjetnog meda na svijetu.

SVETI JURAJ
A
small tourist place Sveti Juraj is located in a bay
between Gradina hill and small island of Lisac.
On the old graveyard by the sea you can see the
St Juraj church and abbey, and nearby there are the
remains of St Filip and Jakov church. People have been
living here continuously since Roman times. Town’s
swimming area is in the centre. In the evening you can
take a walk next to a peaceful small harbor and enjoy
fish specialities while listening to the sound of the sea.
On a small area by the highway between Senj and
Sveti Juraj there are coves Spasovac, Ujča, Vlaška,
Planikovac, Kalić and Grabova and from Sveti Juraj
southward there is Rača. Take your pet and visit Vlaška
cove where a beach has been arranged for dogs. All
these coves are suitable for family holidays in natural
surroundings, far from city noise.
Sveti Juraj is well-known for manufacturers of the
world’s finest floral honey. If you go south from
Sveti Juraj visit “Grifon,” centre whose mission is
preservation and protection of the kings of the sky: the
griffon vultures and the most endangered birds of prey.

rlaubsort Sveti Juraj befindet sich in der Bucht
zwischen den Hügel Gradina und das Inselchen
Lisac. Auf dem alten Friedhof neben Meer
kann man der Abtei der Kirche S. Juraj sehen, in der
Nähe sind die Reste der Kirche S. Filip und Jakov. Auf
diesem Ort dauert ständig das Leben seit Römerzeit. Im
Zentrum befindet sich Stadtstrand. Am Abend machen
Sie eine Spazierung Nähe zu Hafen und geniessen Sie
in Meeresfrüchten mit dem Rauschen des Meeres.
Auf einer kurzen Strecke entlang zwischen Senj und
Sveti Juraj befinden sich Buchten Spasovac, Ujča,
Vlaška, Planikovac, Kalić i Grabova, und von Sveti Juraj
nach dem Süd befindet sich Rača. Mit dem Haustier
können Sie Bucht Vlaška besuchen, dort gibt es Strand
für Haustiere. Alle Buchten sind für Familienurlaub weit
von dem Stadtlärm geeignet.
Sveti Juraj ist nach den Herstellern der besten
Blütenhonig in der Welt bekannt.

iran obiteljski odmor bez prometa pronaći ćete
u Lukovu Otočkom, malom mjestu koje je dobilo
ime po crkvi Sv. Luke iz 18. stoljeća. Do mjestašca
dolazite spuštajući se zavojitom cestom uz koju možete
zastati na vidikovcu s kojeg se pruža prekrasan pogled na
kamene otoke Velebitskog kanala. Mjesto karakterizira
predivna šljunčana plaža i poluotok Malta na kojem se
nalazi etnografski muzej i stare tunere koje su nekada
služile ribarima kao osmatračnice za lov tuna, a danas
predstavljaju turističku atrakciju.
Ostaci prapovijesne utvrde nalaze se na brdu Klis, a na
Grmcu - bijelim lukovačkim gredama do kojih možete
doći samo barkom ostaci su srednjovjekovnih crteža
ljudi i brodova.
U okolici Lukova podmorje je očuvano i netaknuto. Osim
glavne plaže, mjesto je okruženo manjim izoliranim
uvalama Vlaška, Anžina i Biluća, do kojih vas vodi
desetominutna šetnja.

Y
ou will find a peaceful, traffic-free family vacation
in a small place Lukovo Otočko, named after the
church of St Luka from the 18th century. You reach
it going down a winding road next to which you can stop
at a viewpoint giving a beautiful view to the rocky islands
in the Velebit channel. Lukovo Otočko is characterised
by a beautiful pebbly beach and Malta peninsula where
there is an ethnographic museum and old constructions
(tunera) that used to serve fishermen as watchtowers
for tuna fishing and are now a tourist attraction.
Remnants of a prehistoric fort are located on the hill
Klis, and on Grmac, white beams of Lukovac which can
only be reached by boat, there are remains of medieval
drawings of people and ships.
Around Lukovo the seabed is preserved and unspoiled.
Except for the main beach, the place is surrounded by
smaller isolated coves only a ten-minute walk away:
Vlaška, Anžina and Biluća.

uhiger Familienurlaub ohne Verkehr können Sie
in Lukovo Otočko finden, der der Name nach der
Kirche von S. Luka aus dem 18. Jahrhundert
bekommen hat. Bis zum diesen Ort kommen Sie durch
die Serpentine, von welcher Sie einen wunderschönen
Blick auf Stein-Inseln von Velebit Kanal haben. Der Ort
ist nach dem wunderschönen Kiesstrand und Halbinsel
Malta bekannt, auf dennem ein etnografisches Museum
und alte Wachturme für Thunfisch sich befinden, heute
sind das turistische Anziehungen. Die Überreste der
prähistorische Festung befinden sich auf dem Hügel Klis,
und auf dem Grmac - befinden sich die Überreste der
mittelalterliche Zeichnungen von Menschen und Schiffe.
In der Umgebung von Lukovo Unterwasser ist erhalten
und intakt. Außer Hauptstrand Lukovo ist mit kleinen
isolierten Buchten umgegeben, bis zu welchen Sie
eine 10minutigen Spazierung machen können: Vlaška,
Anžina und Biluća.

naselje Velebitskog primorja koje
se nalazi na 30 minuta vožnje od

Šetnja stazama gotovo netaknute

U zaleđu Klade planinari mogu
posjetiti velebitski vrh Zavižan
(1594 mnm) na kojem se nalazi
najstarija visinska meteorološka
postaja u Hrvatskoj, planinarski
dom i Velebitski botanički vrt.

s Jadranske magistrale.
Starigrad je idealno mjesto za sve
vas koji ste umorni od gradske žurbe
i buke. Obiđite ostatke Gradine koja
je naseljena od prapovijesti, preko
rimskog doba sve do srednjeg
vijeka. Pod tvrđavom je ruševina
crkve Sv. Jelene, a u luci crkva Sv.
Jakova sagrađena u 18.st.
Uživajte u intimi prekrasne šljunčane
uvale Grbačka koja se nalazi iza
gradine.
Donja Klada i Starigrad povezani
su uređenom šetnicom uz more na
kojoj su postavljene poučne table.
Laganim hodom stazu možete
prijeći za 1,5 sati.

Look around the remains of Gradina
that was inhabited since prehistory,
through the Roman times all to the
Middle Ages. Under the fort there is
the ruin of St Jelena’s church and
in the harbor there is the St Jakov’s
church built in the 18th century. Enjoy
the intimacy of a beautiful pebbly
cove Grbačka located behind the fort.
Donja Klada and Starigrad are
connected with an arranged
promenade by the sea with
educational boards set along it.
Walking slowly you can walk down it
in an hour and a half.

Unter der Festung liegen die Kirche
S. Jelena und S. Jakov die im 18.
Jahrhundert gebaut sind. Geniessen
sie die Intimität der wunderschönen
Kiesbucht Grbačka, die im
Hintergrund der Gradina liegt.
Donja Klada und Starigrad sind
mit Promenade neben des Meers
verbindet, wo instruktive Tabellen
gestellt sind. Mit dem Ablauf
können Sie den Weg innerhalb der
1,5 Stunde überqueren.

Jablanac
Jablanac
U
dubokoj uvali između uvala Stara Vlaka i
Smokovača smješten je Jablanac, nekad
trgovište, a danas slikovito ribarsko i turističko
naselje. Uz ostatke srednjovjekovnih zidina i kule
tadašnjeg naselja Ablana nalazi se i crkva Sv. Nikole
iz 12. stoljeća. U 13. stoljeću Ablana je imala status
slobodnog kraljevskog grada.
Prije Drugog svjetskog rata dr. Miroslav Hirtz (18781944.), poznati prirodoslovac i putopisac, izgradio je
na 26 metarskoj kamenoj litici planinarski dom koji
danas nosi njegovo ime. Od jablanačke plaže pa do
ovog najnižeg planinarskog doma na svijetu, dijeli vas
samo 122 stepenice. Ovaj je dom ujedno i početna točka
označene planinarske staze koja vodi do prekrasnog
vidikovca i planinarskog doma Alan na Velebitu za koju
je potrebno 4 sata hoda.

I
n a deep cove between the Stara Vlaka and Smokovača
coves there is Jablanac, a place that used to be a
trading centre and is now a picturesque fishing and
tourist town. Next to the remains of medieval walls and
the tower of the old town Ablana there is the St Nikola’s
church from the 12th century. In the 13th century Ablana
had the status of a royal free city.
Before World War II Dr Miroslav Hirtz (1878 – 1944), a
famous naturalist and travel writer, built a mountain
lodge on a 26 m high cliff which is now named after him.
From the beach in Jablanac to this lowest mountain
lodge in the world, there are only 122 steps. This lodge
is also the starting point of a mountain trek which leads
to a beautiful viewpoint and mountain lodge Alan on
Velebit and it takes a four-hour walk.

n der tiefen Bucht zwischen die Buchten Stara Vlaka
und Smokovača liegt Jablanac, einmal einen Markt,
und heute malerische Fischer und Feriendorf. Neben
Reste der mittelalterliche Mauerwerke und des Turms
damalliger Siedlung Albana liegt die Kirche S. Nikola
aus dem 12. Jahrhundert. Im 13. Jahrhundert Albana
war eine freie königliche Stadt.
Vor dem zweiten Weltkrieg dr Miroslav Hirtz (1878-1944.),
der bekannte Naturforscher und Reiseschriftsteller
hat auf 20m Steinfelsen eine Bergheim gebaut, die
heutzutage seinen Name trägt. Von dem Strand von
Jablanac bis zum unterster Bergheim auf der Welt, gibt
es nur 122 Treppen. Diese Heim ist auch Ausgangpunkt
der markierten Wanderwege, die nach wunderschönen
Punkt und Burgheim Alan auf Velebit führt, man braucht
bis zum dort 4 Stunden des Ganges.

Zavratnica
O
no što svi posjetitelji moraju vidjeti je romantična
i posebna uvala Zavratnica, jedna od najljepših u
Hrvatskoj, do koje vodi uređena šetnica dugačka
1 km. Ova uvala duboko ulazi u kopno i nezaobilazna je
destinacija za sve posjetitelje. Duga je 900 m, a široka
između 50 - 150 m. Danas je zaštićeno područje, a zbog
svoje specifičnosti i geomorfološki spomenik prirode.
Visoki kanjon koji se izdiže nad uvalom u proljeće
u ljubičasto oboji zaštićeni cvijet Ilirska perunika.
Ovdje je vrijeme provodio Vjenceslav Novak, jedan od
najvećih hrvatskih pjesnika.
U samom kraju uvale, na dubini oko 8 metara,
razgledajte potopljeni njemački brod iz II svjetskog
rata.

Zavratnica
A
must-see for all visitors is a romantic and special
cove Zavratnica, one of the most beautiful coves
in Craotia. An arranged promenade 1 km long
leads to it. This cove goes inland the farthest and it is
a destination all visitors have to see. It is 900m long
and from 50 to 150 m wide. It is a protected area now
as well as a geomorphological natural monument due
to its specificity. The high canyon that rises over the
cove in spring time is coloured in purple by Illyrian
iris, a protected flower. Vjenceslav Novak, one of the
greatest Craotian poets, spent his time here.
At the very end of the cove, about 8 m below the
surface, take a look at a sunken German ship from
World War II.

as was alle Besucher sehen müssen ist eine
besondere und romantische Bucht Zavratnica,
die eine die schönsten in Kroatien ist, bis zur
diesen Bucht kommt man über einen Fußweg der 1km
lang ist. Diese Bucht gibt am tiefsten in das Festland
ein und ein unvermeidliches Ziel für Besucher ist.
Sie ist 900m lang und weit zwischen 50-150m. Heute
ist das ein geschützer Bereich, und wegen seiner
Spezifität ein geomorphologischer Naturdenkmal.
Grand Canyon, der sich über der Bucht steigt im
Frühjahr wird lila wegen der geschützten Blume
Illyrischen Iris. Hier hat die Zeit Vjenceslav Novak
verbracht, ein der bekanntesten kroatischen Dichter.
In dem letzten Teil der Bucht in einer Tiefe von etwa
8 Meter, besuchen Sie versunkenen deutschen Schiff
aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg.

plitkoj uvali Mala Stinica nalazi se
zidana obala i mali gat. Sagrađeno
je i novo trajektno pristanište koje
putnike vodi na obližnji otok Rab
vezom Stinica - Mišnjak.
Sa zapadne strane luke je bilo
prapovijesno naselje Ortopla.
Poželite li iz Stinice otići na izlet
u planinu, posjetite Štirovaču –
lokalitet u južnom dijelu NP Velebit,
poznat po očuvanim crnogoričnim
šumama. Štirovača je popularno
izletište domaćeg stanovništva.

old settlement. In the shallow cove
of Mala Stinica there are a paved
beach and a small pier. A new ferry
dock has been built which takes the
travellers to the nearby island of Rab
through Stinica – Mišnjak route.
On the west side of the harbor there
was a prehistoric settlement Ortopla.
If you wish to go on a mountain hike,
visit Štirovača – site in the southern
part of National Park Velebit. It is
famous for its preserved coniferous
forests. Štirovača is a popular hiking
site for the locals.

pristanište za otok Pag, do kojeg
vožnja traje oko 15 minuta.
Cijeli podvelebitski kraj poznat je
po gradinama, pa tako i u Prizni
posjetitelji mogu obići ostatke
Gradine iz vremena ilirskog i
rimskog doba.

do Krasnog Polja - najvećeg naselja na Velebitu
koje se nalazi na 714 mnm. Krasno Polje je jedno

from the Adriatic highway to Krasno Polje, the
largest village on Velebit located 714 m above sea
level. Krasno Polje is one of the best known Marian
sanctuaries in Croatia. Tens of thousands of religious
people come to a pilgramage here every year. The
village is the centre of National Park North Velebit,
it has two sawmills, a forestry and a cheese dairy.
Furthermore, the first Croatian forestry museum was
opened here in 2005.
Immerse yourselves in nature by spending time in
renovated shepherd dwellings in Lubenovac and Alan
which are a part of NP North Velebit. Mountaineers can
settle in several mountain houses in the surrounding
area (Apatišan, Oltari, Zavižan, Alan). Visitors who wish

Krivi Put
S
mješten u šumovitom području senjskog zaleđa
Krivi Put je najstarije naselje koje osnivaju
Bunjevci početkom 17. stoljeća u potrazi za
boljom ispašom stoke. To im je i omogućio krivoputski
kraj sa svojim pašnjacima, krškim poljima, dulibama,
dolcima, livadama i šumom.
Krivi Put obuhvaća čitav niz manjih zaselaka koji su
svojedobno bili jedna općina. U zaseoku Podbilo nalazi
se crkva Majke Božje Snježne, zaštitnice krivoputskog
kraja čiji blagdan se obilježava 5. kolovoza.
Biciklističke staze koje vode kroz cijelo ovo područje
pravi su izazov i užitak za zaljubljenike u prirodu i
svježi zrak.

ocated in the forest area of Senj’s hinterland Krivi
Put is the oldest settlement founded by Bunjevci in
the beginning of the 17th century while searching
for better pastures. The area around Krivi Put gave
them exactly that with its grasslands, karst fields,
dales, valleys, meadows and woods.
Krivi Put encompasses a whole series of hamlets
which used to be a single municipality. In the hamlet
of Podbilo there is a church of Our Lady of the Snows,
patron saint of this area whose holiday is celebrated
on 5 August.
Bicycle roads that lead through the entire area are a
true challenge for people who love nature and fresh air.

iegt in einem Waldgebiet von Senj Hinterland, und
ist die älteste Siedlung die Bunjevci am Anfang
der 17. Jahrhundert auf der Suche nach besseren
Weidewieh gegrundet haben. Das hat ihnen Krivi put
– Ort mit seinen Weiden, Karstelder, Duliba, Wiesen
und Wälder ermöglichen.
Krivi Put umfasst eine Reihe von kleinen Dörfern,
die einst eine Gemeinde war. In dem Weiler Podbilo

Schnee, die Schutzerin der Krivi Put Siedlung, derren
Fest am 5. August gefeiert ist..
Die Radwege, die durch das ganze Gebiet führen, die
echte Herausvorderung und Vergnügen für Liebhaber

cesta, sagrađena u 18. stoljeću po

road, built in the 18th century by
the order of emperor Josef II, goes
along it. The Josefine road used to
be the most important traffic route
that connects the inland to the sea
and it goes as far as Karlovac. In
Sveti Križ and Majorija there are
protected springs of crystal clear
mountain water. Thanks to its
natural position the entire Senjska
Draga is full of these springs.
