Giorgio (1427-1505) in pieno centro storico è una delle più belle e grandi chiese a sala del tardo gotico della Germania meridionale. Dalla sua alta torre, il “Daniel”, il visitatore può ammirare l`affascinante panorama della città e del cratere del Ries. Dal “Daniel” risuona ogni sera tra le ore 22,00 e 24,00, ogni mezz`ora, il grido del guardiano notturno: “So, G’sell, so!” (“Va tutto bene, compagni!”) 2. Il Rathaus o Municipio “casa di pietra” del 13° secolo, fu utilizzato ininterrottamente dal 1382 dal Consiglio cittadino ed è per questo uno dei municipi qiù antichi della Germania. Rappresentativa scala esterna (1618) in stile rinascimentale. 3. Come il Municipio, anche la Leihhaus o casa del Monte di Pietà (1522) – in origine cancelleria della città – fu utilizzata come grande sala di vendita per le fiere. 4. La Tanzhaus a casa per la fiere del ballo (sec. XV) veniva utilizzata durante la fiere di Pentecoste come sala di vendita dei commercianti di stoffe ma anche come sala per le feste. 5. Hafenmarkt o Mercato delle vasi: la piazza è adornata da frontoni storici. 6. L’imponente edificio “Klösterle” (Piccolo Convento), una volta chiesa del convento francescano, fu utilizzato dal 1585/86, dopo la Riforma, come granaio comunale. 7. Nel Gerberviertel o quartiere dei conciatori si possono ammirare numerose case della corporazione, in questo godevano della maggior ricchezza ed influenza tra tutti i cittadini. 8. Lo Spital (Ospizio), con la sua chiesa, la casa di riposo e di cura nonché i magazzini, fu fondato nel Duecento per la cura dei malati, dei poveri e dei cittadini più bisognosi. 9. Il Museo municipale (Stadtmuseum) espone una raccolta preistorica e protostorica, pittura su pannelli di legno tardo gotica e pezzi sulla storia della città e dell’arte. 10. Il Rieskratermuseum, nel vecchio Holzhof (granaio della legna, 1503) documenta i fenomeni che hanno formato 15 milioni di anni fa il cratere del Ries dopo la caduta del meteorite. 11. Il Neue Mühle o Mulino Nuovo ha la ruota motrice azionata da sotto. 12. La Spitzturm o torre a punta è un torrione pittoresco (15° secolo, modificato nel 1592) delle fortificazioni medievali del 1327. 13. La Porta Baldinger Tor: porta rivolta verso la Svevia e la Franconia. Durante l’assedio della città nel 1634 venne gravemente danneggiata e per questo è crollata nel 1703. 14. Backofentürme: torrioni del secolo XVI a forma di forno. 15. L’Oberer Wasserturm o Castello d’acqua superiore: torrione a difesa del canale dell’Eger. 16. Löwenturm o Pulverturm (Torre dei Leoni o della Polvere): massiccio torrione della batteria (1533/35), con caratteristico tetto di assicella a difesa di questa parte delle mura. 17. La Porta Berger Tor (1362) rivolta verso Ulma, venne fortificata nel 1552 da una porta anteriore e nel 1574/75 da un parapetto per l’artiglieria. 18. Il Neue Bastei o Nuovo Bastione (1607-1613) purtroppo fu demolito completamente nel 1808-1826. 19. Il Torrione Feilturm fungeva un tempo da prigione. 20. L’Alte Bastei o Vecchio Bastione (1554, 1598/99) formava un solida bastione nella parte più esposta agli attacchi. Oggi funge da romantico teatro all’aperto. 21. Le Seelhäuser o Case dell’Anima, fondazione risalente al 1453, davano alloggio alle persone bisognose e ai senza tetto. 22. La Chiesa del S. Salvatore, costruita a partire dal 1401, dopo un miracolo dell’Ostia, come chiesa di convento dei Carmelitani, fu consacrata nel 1422 e oggi è chiesa parrocchiale cattolica. 23. Casa Winter (1678): armoniosa costruzione a traliccio, con porta lavorata artisticamente (1697). 24. L’imponente Hallgebäude (palazzo della Borsa, 1541-43), veniva usato come deposito comunale del sale e del vino nonché come Borsa. 24a Museo “augenblick”: attrazioni ottici e acustici. 25. La Porta Reimlinger Tor: con parti risalenti al 14°secolo è la più antica delle cinque porte di Nördlingen ed era rivolta sull’antica strada romana verso Augusta (“Strada Romantica”), le Alpi ed infine l’Italia. 26. La Torre Reißturm (1408) fu modificata della città nel 1644/45 in una torre d’artiglieria posta davanti alle mura. 27. La Porta Deininger Tor è stata costruita in questa forma attuale nel 1516-19. Nel 1634 fu gravemente danneggiata nella battaglia presso Nördlingen. 28. La leggendaria Porta Löpsinger Tor (1593-94) era a difesa della strada verso Norimberga e Lipsia; oggi vi si trova il Museo delle Mura disposto su sei piani. Immagini storiche e plastici mostrano l’impressionante sviluppo delle fortificazioni. 29. L’Alte Kornschranne o Magazzino del Grano (1601-02) serviva come deposito per il commercio di grano di Nördlingen e della regione del Ries. 30 La Kriegerbrunnen o Fontana dei Guerrieri (1902, Georg Wrba) commemora la campagna francese del 1870/71 e la fondazione dell’Impero Tedesco nel 1871. 31. La Münzhaus o Casa della moneta fra il 1534 e il 1571 era il luogo dove si coniava la propria moneta. 32. L’Unterer Wasserturm o Torre dell acqua inferiore proteggeva questa parte debole della difesa della città. 33. Casa della cultura: università popolare e biblioteca comunale. Français: 1. St.-Georgs-Kirche (église St. Georges, 1427-1505) au centre de la vieille ville: considérée comme une des églises-halles de style flamboyant les plus grandes et les plus belles de l’Allemagne du Sud. De son haut clocher panoramique „Daniel“, le visiteur a une vue fascinante sur la ville et sur le cratère du Ries. Aujourd’hui encore, l’appel du veilleur, «So, G’sell So» retentit tous les soirs de la tour "Daniel" (toutes les demi-heures entre 22 et 24 heures). 2. Rathaus ou hôtel de ville: la « maison de pierre » du 13° siècle et été utilisée sans interruption depuis 1382 par le conseil municipal ce qui en fait un des hôtels de ville les plus vieux d’Allemagne. Escalier extérieur majestueux (1618) de style Renaissance. 3. Leihhaus («mont-de-piété» - 1522): à l’origine chancellerie, elle a été utilisée – comme l’hôtel de ville – aussi comme salle de vente pendant les foires. 4. La «Tanzhaus« (la maison de la danse – 15°s.) servait de salle de vente aux commerçants d’étoffes pendant la foire de Pentecôte, mais aussi de salle des fêtes. 5. Hafenmarkt (marché aux poteries): des pignons historiques encadrent la place. 6. La construction imposante du Klösterle (couvent), ancienne abbatiale franciscaine, a servi de grenier à céréales dès 1585/86, après la Réformation. 7. Dans le Gerberviertel (quartier des tanneurs) il y a encore de nombreuses maisons de ce corps de métier dont les représentants faisaient autrefois partie des habitants les plus aisés et les plus influents de la ville. 8. Le grand Spital («Hôtel Dieu») avec son église, son hospice et ses communs, a été institué déjà au 13e siècle pour les soins des malades, des indigents et des vieillards. 9. Stadtmuseum (musée municipal): collections de la proto-histoire et de la préhistoire, de peinture sur panneaux de bois de style gothique flamboyant ainsi que des objets d’expositions sur l’histoire de la ville et de l’art. 10. Le Rieskratermuseum (musée du cratère du Ries) se trouvant dans l’ancien Holzhof ou grenier à bois (1503) documente de façon impressionnante les événements qui furent à l’origine du cratère du Ries il y a 15 millions d’années par la chute d’une météorite. 11. Neumühle (nouveau moulin) avec sa roue à eau entraînée par en dessous. 12. Spitzturm (tour pointue): tour fortifiée pittoresque (15° siècle, transformée en 1592) des remparts de la ville moyenâgeuse de 1327. 13. Baldinger Tor (porte Baldinger): porte de la ville en direction de Souabe et de Franconie. Pendant le siège de la ville en 1634 elle fut gravement endommagée et s’écroula en 1703. 14. Backofentürme: tours fortifiées (16 siècle) en forme de four. 15. Oberer Wasserturm: tour fortifiée pour protéger l’entrée l’Eger. 16. Löwenturm ou Pulverturm (tour du lion ou de la poudre – 1533/35): tour de défense à parapet et à toit relevé pour défendre ce côté des remparts. 17. Berger Tor (porte Berger, 1362): en direction de Ulm, elle fut renforcée par un ouvrage avancé en 1552 et en 1574/75 par les parapets de protection en bourrelet. 18. Le Neue Bastei (nouveau bastion – 1607/13) a été malheureusement complètement démoli entre 1808 et 1826. 19. Feilturm (tour Feil): cette tour servait de prison. 20. L’Alte Bastei (ancien bastion – 1554, 1598/99) constituait un puissant bastion pour protéger ce côté exposé aux attaques principale; aujourd’hui il sert de scène au théâtre en plein air de Nördlingen. 21. Les Seelhäuser, fondation de 1453, ont servi à l’hébergement des pauvres et des sans-logis. 22. Salvatorkirche (église St-Salvator), construite à partir de 1401 après un miracle de l’hostie en tant qu’abbatiale des carmélites, elle fut consacrée en 1422. Aujourd’hui elle est l’église de la paroisse catholique. 23. Winter’sches Haus (Majson Winter – 1678): construction à colombages, très harmonieuse, avec une porte d’entrée décorée très artistement (1697). 24. Hallgebäude (entrepôt), construction imposante (1541/43) qui a servi dans le passé de réserve municipal à sel et à vins et de Bourse. 24a Musée „augenblick“: attractions optiques et acoustiques. 25. Reimlinger Tor (porte Reimlinger): avec des parties du 14°, direction de la route romaine vers Augsburg (route romantique), vers les Alpes et l’Italie. 26. Reißturm (1408): en 1644/45 la ville transforma cette ancienne tour fortifiée en une tourelle devant les remparts. 27. Deininger Tor (porte Deininger): elle a été remplacée par l’actuel bâtiment en 15161519. En 1634 elle fut gravement endommagée dans la bataille près de Nördlingen. 28. Löpsinger Tor (porte Löpsinger – 1593/94), auréolée par la légende, elle protégea la route vers Nuremberg et Leipzig; auhourd’hui elle abrite le musée municipal des remparts sur six étages. Des représentations historiques et des maquettes y montrent l’évolution dans la construction des fortifications. 29. Le Kornschranne (1601/02) servait au Moyen Age à stocker les céréales pour le commerce de Nördlingen et de la région du Ries. 30 La Kriegerbrunnen (fontaine des combattants – 1902, Georg Wrba) commémore la campagne française de 1870/71 et la fondation de l’Empire allemand en 1871. 31. Hôtel de la Monnaie (Münzhaus): entre 1534 et 1571 il a été le lieu où Nördlingen frappa sa propre monnaie. 32. Le Unterer Wasserturm (tour de défense) protégeait les points faibles de défense de la ville. 33. Maison de la culture: Université populaire et bibliothèque municipale. n English: 1. St Georg’s Church: (1427 – 1505) in the centre of the Old Town is regarded as one of the largest and most beautiful late Gothic hall churches in southern Germany. „Daniel“, visitors - the “Daniel” is the tower of the church - enjoy a fascinating view over the town and the Ries crater. Every evening, between 10.00 pm and midnight, every half-hour, the watchman’s cry can be heard from the “Daniel”: So, G’sell, so!” (“All’s well, fellows, all’s well!”. 2. Rathaus (Town Hall):the 13th century “stone house” has been used without interruption since 1382 by the “parliament” of the town, thus being one of the oldest Town Halls in Germany. The imposing external flight of stairs (1618) displays the Renaissance style. 3. Like the neighbouring Town Hall, the Leihhaus (1522), originally built as chancellery, was also used as a trading hall during fairs. 4. The Tanzhaus (15th century) was used as a trading hall during Whitsun fairs, mainly for the numerous cloth traders and at other times as a dance hall. 5. Hafenmarkt: this square is surrounded by historical gables. 6. The massive structure of the Klösterle, once a Franciscan monastery church, has been used after the Reformation (1585 – 86) as a granary. 7. In the Gerberviertel (or “tanners’ district”) there are still numerous tannery houses; these craftsmen used to be among the most prosperous and influential citizens of the town. 8. The large Spital with its church, its geriatric care centre and its warehouses, was built in the 13th century and originally used as a municipal home for the care of the sick, the old and the poor. 9. The Stadtmuseum or municipal museum presents a collection of prehistoric and early historic exhibits as well as other pieces illustrating late Gothic panel painting, the history of the town and of art. 10. The Ries crater museum in the old Holzhof building (1503) contains an impressive documentation of the events leading to the creation of the Ries crater through the impact of an enormous meteorite 15 million years ago. 11. Neumühle, the new water mill with a bottom-driven wheel. 12. Spitzturm, the picturesque pointed tower (15th century, rebuilt in 1592) of the medieval town walls dated 1327. 13. Baldinger Tor: this gate leads towards Swabia and Franconia. After the town siege in 1634 the gate was seriously damaged, causing the collapse in 1703. 14. Backofentürme: defensive towers (16th century) shaped like ovens. 15. Oberer Wasserturm: this “upper water tower” protected the walls alongside the Eger canal. 16. Löwenturm or Pulverturm: the solid “Lion tower” or “powder tower” (1533-35) with a characteristic defence roof protected this side of the wall. 17. Berger Tor (1362): towards Ulm, it was reinforced in 1552 by the gate in front of it. In 1574/75 a firing balustrade was added. 18. Neue Bastei or new bastion (1607-1613) was unfortunately completely demolished in 1808-1826. 19. Feilturm: this tower was used as a prison. 20. Alte Bastei or old bastion (1554, 1598/99): The massive bastion protected the weakest side of the town. It now serves as a romantic open-air theatre. 21. Seelhäuser: houses donated in 1453 for poor, homeless people. 22. Salvatorkirche: it was built from 1401 onwards, ( after the miracle of the Host) as the abbey church for the Carmelite order and was consecrated in 1422. Nowadays it is used as a Catholic parish church. 23. Winter’sches Haus (1678): a restored half-timbered house, with an artistic entrance door (1697). 24. The massive Hallgebäude (1541-43) once served to store salt and wine as well as a granary. 24a Museum „augenblick“: optic and acoustic attractions 25. Reimlinger Tor: It is the oldest of Nördlingen`s five gates (parts from the 14th century still stand) and is leading to Augsburg (Romantic Road) and over the Alps to Italy. 26. Reisturm (1408): in 1644/45 it was changed into a gunnery tower and placed in front of the town walls. 27. Deininger Tor: it was replaced by a new building in 1516-19. In 1634 it was seriously damaged at the battle near Nördlingen. 28. The legendary Löpsinger Tor (1593/94) protected the access which led to Nuremberg and to Leipzig and nowadays it houses the municipal townwalls museum in 6 floors. Historic displays and models show the development of the fortifications. 29. Kornschranne (1601-02) served as a warehouse for the corn trade of Nördlingen and the Ries region. 30 Kriegerbrunnen (warriors’ fountain – 1902, by Georg Wrba): it commemorates the French campaign in 1870/71 and the foundation of the German Empire in 1871. 31. Münzhaus: where the town struck its own coins between 1534 and 1571. 32. The weak points in the town defence were protected by the Unterer Wasserturm (lower water tower). 33.
