Vous souhaitez effectuer un séjour en tant que Volontaire en Afrique du Sud et nous vous remercions
d’avoir choisi l’Association Fée Rêvée pour votre placement. Afin d’étudier au mieux votre dossier,
nous vous remercions d’apporter toute votre attention aux informations demandées. Nous vous
proposons une trentaine de projets en Afrique du Sud et notamment à Cape Town avec des départs
toute l’année.
Petites précisions :
o La durée de votre séjour sera de 2 semaines à 6 mois selon le projet envisagé
o Vous êtes âgé(e) de 18 ans ou plus
o Vous avez un niveau d’anglais B2 minimum (intermédiaire supérieur)
o Vous travaillerez environ 40 heures par semaine
o Vous souhaitez vous investir et donner de votre temps pour une cause humanitaire
Déroulement de votre placement : nous vous confirmerons la bonne réception de votre dossier.
Vous aurez un entretien Skype ainsi qu’un test en ligne afin d’évaluer votre niveau d’anglais. Votre
candidature sera vérifiée et sera validée par notre partenaire. Vous recevrez une confirmation de
votre inscription au programme choisi, les coordonnées de votre correspondant local ainsi que de
nombreux conseils.
Voici la liste des documents à nous fournir (remarque : tout dossier incomplet ne

le document « Enrolm ent form » dûment rempli en anglais et signé,

votre Curriculum Vitae rédigé en anglais,
une lettre de m otivation rédigée en anglais d’environ 500 mots : vous devez vous décrire,
parler de votre famille, de vos motivations, de vos qualités… Vous devez la rédiger par vousmême. Bien sûr vous pouvez vous aider d’un dictionnaire mais il est important qu’elle reflète
votre niveau de langue réel.

LE PRO GRAM M E VO LO NTARIAT : AID ER C’EST CH ANGER
Votre objectif est de consacrer du temps à des projets communautaires et de préservation de l’environnement en
vous immergeant dans la culture sud-africaine. Participez à un programme de volontariat et partez à la
découverte de vous-même en laissant votre empreinte en Afrique du Sud.
Vous avez la possibilité de choisir parmi une trentaine de projets et plusieurs localisations (Cape Town,
Hoedspruit, Port Elizabeth, Jeffrey's Bay…)
VO S AVANTAGES
Vous séjournez en Afrique du Sud pour une durée de 2 semaines à 6 mois
Une opportunité exceptionnelle de découvrir différentes cultures et de vivre des expériences uniques :
découvrir les traditions et coutumes locales, appréhender un nouveau mode de vie, perfectionner son
anglais, etc.
Selon le projet envisagé vous serez logé (e) en chambre à partager avec d’autres volontaires, chez
l’habitant ou sur un campement à proximité du projet. Vous serez également nourri (e) en pension
complète, ou semi complète.
Vous bénéficierez d’un à deux jours de repos par semaine et d’un temps libre suffisant pour faire du
tourisme, vous faire des amis, etc …
Vous profiterez d’excursions et de sorties organisées pour les volontaires basés à Cape Town
Le transfert de l’aéroport vers votre logement est inclus. A titre d’exemple, les arrivées à Cape Town se font
en général le jeudi et les départs le samedi.
Vous recevrez le « Volunteer Handbook » (pack de bienvenue incluant des conseils et une carte SIM) vous
donnera des indications pour le bon déroulement de votre séjour
A votre arrivée vous rencontrerez l’équipe de bénévoles et vous jouirez d’une formation complète
Un coordinateur local basé à Cape Town vous soutiendra tout au long de votre séjour et il vous sera remis
un numéro d’appel d’urgence 24h / 24.
LES COM PÉTENCES DÉVELOPPÉES
En tant que volontaire, vous aurez l’opportunité de développer plusieurs compétences enrichissantes et
notamment vos savoirs, savoir-être et savoir-faire. Vous pourrez adhérer aux valeurs et aux enjeux d’un projet
qui vous tient à cœur et vous impliquer ainsi pleinement. Votre capacité à vous adapter à de nouvelles situations
et à un nouvel environnement sera mise en avant. Vous assumerez certaines responsabilités et serez intégré(e) à
un groupe de volontaires. Vous développerez également un esprit d’équipe basé sur l’entraide ainsi qu’une
grande tolérance. Grâce à votre courage et à votre détermination, vous gagnerez en maturité et en autonomie.
EN ÉCHANGE
Vous vous adapterez aux coutumes du pays d’accueil et aux traditions sud-africaines, dans le respect et la
discrétion. Être volontaire exige non seulement de la responsabilité de votre part, mais aussi de la souplesse
envers la vie en communauté.
En fonction du programme choisi, vous travaillerez environ 40 heures par semaine.
Vous recevrez un emploi du temps type de la semaine de volontariat. Il peut varier en fonction des imprévus.
Vous participerez aux frais de programme. Les frais incluent une donation au projet de volontariat, votre
transfert à l’arrivée et au départ pour l’aéroport, l'hébergement et les repas comme indiqué dans le projet
choisi, une formation à l’arrivée et un pack de bienvenue.

Le coordinateur local s’engage à vous aider et à vous encadrer surtout à votre arrivée en Afrique du Sud.

Vous adapter le plus rapidement possible dans votre future ville (se diriger vers le projet de volontariat et
dans la ville, prendre les moyens de transport, se rendre aux établissements administratifs pour vos
papiers...)
Faire les efforts nécessaires pour connaître la culture du pays d’accueil et pour en apprendre la langue, à
respecter les différences et à vous montrer tolérant(e)
Payer vos communications téléphoniques locales ou non

Exemple d’une journée type de volontariat avec les enfants du lundi au vendredi :
• Des missions vous seront confiées à partir de 8h : aider lors du petit-déjeuner, donner le bain, les aider à
s’habiller, puis organiser des activités intérieures et extérieures adaptées à leur âge.
• Vous profiterez d’une pause déjeuner avec les autres volontaires.
• Vos missions liées au projet continueront l’après-midi : organiser des sorties pour les enfants par exemple
• A partir de 17h pour la plupart des projets, vous pourrez avoir du temps libre pour vous reposer,
découvrir la ville, passer du temps avec les autres volontaires.
Exemple d’une journée type de volontariat avec des animaux du lundi au vendredi :
• Des missions vous seront confiées à partir de 8h : vous assistez les guides de safari et les gardiens lors
de leurs tâches quotidiennes (nourrir les animaux, nettoyer les cages ou enclos, les soigner …)
• Vous profiterez d’une pause déjeuner avec les autres volontaires.
• Vos missions liées au projet continueront l’après-midi : assister les vétérinaires, aider les guides lors des
visites guidées, aider les conservateurs pendant leurs observations par exemple. Il y a une grande
variété de tâches à effectuer qui peuvent différer selon les jours et les saisons.
• A partir de 17h pour la plupart des projets, vous aurez du temps libre pour vous reposer, découvrir les
alentours, passer du temps avec les autres volontaires.

• Projets sociaux liés aux enfants : en tant que bénévole, vous serez impliqué(e) dans la gestion
quotidienne du projet. Vous travaillerez dans l'administration ou serez en contact direct avec les
enfants. Vous serez amené(e) à faire des missions dans des écoles, des orphelinats ou dans des

hôpitaux. Vous apprendrez aux enfants à lire et compter, jouerez ou passerez du temps à l'extérieur
avec eux. Vous améliorerez la vie des personnes âgées en les aidant pour leur quotidien, au moment
du repas et de la toilette, en les écoutant, en leur apportant une présence chaleureuse et
réconfortante. Les projets impliquant les enfants et les personnes âgées ont tendance à préférer les
séjours plus longs. Ainsi ils apprennent à se connaître les uns les autres et les bénévoles créent un
véritable lien avec eux.
• Projets liés aux animaux domestiques abandonnés et aux oiseaux : à Cape Town, beaucoup d’entre
eux nécessitent des soins. Ainsi, vous vous rendrez sur le terrain, assisterez l’équipe vétérinaire,
nourrirez les animaux, jouerez et apporterez de la tendresse aux chiens et chats délaissés.

Les activités à Cape Town
• Cape Town est une ville centrale, active et extrêmement importante en Afrique du Sud.
• Partez pour une ascension vertigineuse, admirez des points de vue impressionnant sur la ville depuis
la Table Mountain, Singal Hill et Lion’s Head.
• Relaxez-vous à la plage de Camps Bay à deux pas de la ville.
• Baladez-vous dans les quartiers à flanc de falaise.
• Certains sites sont référencés au patrimoine mondial comme Robben Island où Nelson Mandela et de
nombreux autres prisonniers politiques ont été gardés en prison.
Les projets en Afrique du Sud (hors Cape Town)
Les missions proposées
• Nous vous proposons une grande variété de projets où sont à l’honneur la conservation, l'enfance et
la communauté. Les projets sociaux se concentrent autour des petites villes telles que Hoedspruit, Port
Elizabeth, Jeffrey's Bay. Vous pourrez par exemple apporter des bases d’enseignement et une
expérience éducative dans une école maternelle pour les enfants défavorisés. Les projets sont
engagés et visent également à améliorer la vie de la communauté à travers l'éducation et les soins
apportés. Ceci dans le but de construire un avenir meilleur et plus sain.
• Les projets liés aux animaux seront une occasion unique de découvrir la faune africaine comme des
lions, guépards et éléphants. Vous vous rendrez dans des réserves animalières ou centres de
réhabilitation. Les volontaires peuvent participer activement à la conservation de la faune, aider à la
libération par exemple des guépards élevés en captivité dans leur habitat naturel et être impliqués
dans la réintégration des animaux sauvages. Vous pourrez partir à la rencontre des éléphants, une
occasion rare et passionnante pour se rapprocher de ces doux géants en étant impliqué dans leurs
soins quotidiens. Vous avez également la possibilité de participer à une expérience hors du
commun en étudiant les requins et à changer notre regard sur eux.

This day care caters for the poor in a community near Hout Bay. They have 16 staff
members, all from the community, and provide a safe learning space for 250 children

Expert nursing and medical care is provided
in a homely and loving environment for
infants and children who are recovering from
acute medical conditions. They are unable to
return home for medical or social reasons.
The primary objective is to reverse the decline
of seabird populations through the rescue,
rehabilitation and release of ill, injured, and
abandoned seabirds – especially endangered
seabirds like the penguin and the cormorant.

This animal rehab centre feeds and cares
for stranded and injured animals. It boasts in
excess of forty species of wildlife. Some animals that can’t be free-roaming are kept in
enclosures, but most of the larger animals
roam freely.

This centre is dedicated to rehabilitating endangered and injured animals and returning
them back to the wild. The centre is home to
a wide variety of reptiles, as well as to Bengal
tigers, white lions and elephants. Thirty-five
animals have been released ever since.

This is a place of safety for elephants. The
park started off with only two elephants in
1994, but they have since been joined by
ten others. The park offers a rare and exciting opportunity to get close to these gentle
giants.

This centre creates homes for orphaned,
poisoned or injured wildlife, which due to
their injuries will never be able to return
to their natural environment. Rehabilitated
wildlife will be reintroduced to their environment where possible.

This project is set in beautiful surroundings,
offering breath-taking scenery. The horses
live a natural life with the wild horses of
Kaapsehoop. This means that there are no
stables for the animals at night as they sleep
in the mountains.

the project is home to 23 children. These
children were potential or actual street
children, but with a lot of love and care the
project has managed to get them all to go
to school on a daily basis.
Through skateboarding, this project brings
together people from diverse backgrounds.

youths self-esteem and pride. It keeps them off
the streets and out of trouble and brings them

Their vision is an Africa where humans and

mission is to conserve the land, cultures
and wildlife of Namibia and rescue species
threatened by an ever-shrinking habitat.
This project aims to study sharks and to
bring tourists closer to them. The project
operates one boat for scientific research
and several boats for tourist activities.
Volunteers are primarily here to work closely
with sharks and tourists.

The project aims to farm holistically, applying techniques of biodynamic and astrological farming to rehabilitate this farm, its
soil and its unique ecosystem. In keeping
with these goals, there are both animals and
plants on the land.

This programme teaches surfing to underprivileged youth from a rural area in Mosselbay. Surfing keeps them out of trouble and
away from drugs by giving them support and
a chance to develop. Volunteers learn to surf
and at the same time teach kids to surf; assist
with beach games, yoga, swimming lessons
and help with after-school homework.

The Sanctuary hosts a variety of Big Cats,
including Lions and Tigers. The focus is on
conservation education and specifically the

Good Hope Studies operates two English language schools in
Cape Town. One school is situated in the beautiful residential area
of Newlands and the other one in the city centre on a pedestrian
road.

Teacher Training Courses
Good Hope Studies runs the CELTA and Delta Module courses,
both approved and moderated by the University of Cambridge
ESOL.
These courses are internationally the most widely recognised

Included: airport transfer on arrival, airport transfer on departure for all projects “in other parts of South Africa”, orientation, welcome pack, local support including a 24
hour emergency number, certificate on request, accommodation with shared bathrooms as stated below, meals as stated below, further services as stated below.
Not included (unless otherwise stated below): local transport, laundry, towels, Wifi, weekend excursions where available, any items of a personal nature.

Refundable deposit: ZAR 600 (€ 40), payable on the first day to cover key rentals. Will be refunded on the last day.

Combining volunteering with a language course: deduct € 150 from the prices below. You either start with a language course and then volunteer, or do a language course

If volunteers arrive in East London late afternoon, they need to stay overnight at their own costs and will be collected the following day.

Monkey Sanctuary, Protecting Children and Wild Cats all share the same accommodation in Plettenberg Bay and can be easily combined with each other.

Volunteers need to stay the first night at a backpackers in Cape Town at their own costs to be collected early the next morning. They also need to stay the last night if the flight home leaves before 19:00.

GENERAL CONDITIONS
1. Booking
Your registration results in the existence of a contract upon written confirmation from Good Hope Studies.
2. Alteration and Cancellation
An alteration fee will be charged for alteration of bookings made before a cancellation fee applies. For
alternations received thereafter, the cancellation fee applies. Notice of cancellation before arrival must be
given in writing to Good Hope Studies.
The cancellation fee is :
• the nonrefundable deposit for cancellations received more than 4 weeks prior to arrival ;
• 25% of the total programme fee, for cancellations received 15 days to 4 weeks prior to arrival ;
• 50% of the total programme fee, for cancellations received 8 to 14 days prior to arrival ;
• 100% of the total programme fee, for cancellations received less than 8 days prior to arrival ;
Cancellation fees for White Lion Project : 8 weeks or less : 50%, 4 weeks or less : 100%
Cancellation fees for Lowveld Rehab. Centre : 4 weeks or less : 50%, 3 weeks or less : 75%, 2 weeks or
less : 100%.
These cancellation fees also apply in the even that a visa is not granted. To avoid cancellation fees, if a
visa is required, we strongly recommend that you apply for the visa well in advance. You should apply far
enough in advance that the visa is received more than 4 weeks before arrival.
Should any services be cancelled that are not on our price list (hotels, flight-tickets, etc.), the cancellation
charges of the third party provider will apply.
3. W ithdrawal
No refund is possible in the event of cancellation after arrival, or of no-show of the participant. No refund
is given if the student is asked to leave due to unsatisfactory attendance or performance.
4. Insurance
Students are not insured by Good Hope Studies against illness, accident, theft or any loss of personal
effects. Good Hope Studies or its representatives cannot accept responsibility for any accident occurring
during, on or off the programme. Medical insurance cover is required and details must be provided to Fée
Rêvée and Good Hope Studies before arrival. Travel insurance against loss of personal belongings is
strongly recommended as well as against loss of programme fees should the whole or part of the
programme, paid in advance, not be attended.
5. Health and Fitness
You are responsible for considering your health prior to the programme and warrant that you are fit and
able to participate.
6. Complaints procedure
In case of any problems, no matter how serious or small they are, you are asked to inform the organisation
you are volunteering for immediately, in order to give them a chance to rectify the problem. In the event
that the problem cannot be solved to your satisfaction, we ask you to inform us about the problem
immediately. As Good Hope Studies is a IALC member, all clients have the opportunity to inform IALC
([email protected]) as a last resort.
