Guidelines
THE ORIGIN AND REASON BEHIND THE MONTREAL YOUTH MINISTRY AWARDS:
Many of us are able to be witnesses of God’s wonders through the exceptional individuals within our parishes, movements and
communities. We give thanks to God, Our Father, for their example. Moreover, we acknowledge the importance of showing our
gratitude towards these individuals, even though we know that we could never thank them enough and that the Lord Himself
already rewards them greatly.
However, it is good to encourage one another and build up each other. (1 Th 5:11).This is the reason why, the Mission Jeunesse –
Youth Ministry coordination team would like to highlight the generosity of these disciples and apostles of Jesus-Christ who, often
working in the shadows, inspire us through their commitment and fidelity to Youth Ministry. They are for us concrete witnesses of
the presence of the Lord. It is they who remind us every day these words of Saint James « But you must do what the Word tells you
and not just listen to it and deceive yourselves» (James 1:22).
In awarding these people, we wish to raise awareness and remind the young people and the Christian communities present, about
the real vocation of the Christian on Earth: “You are salt for the earth [...] You are light for the world.” Mt 5:13-15
We would like for these witnesses of Jesus Christ to shine. They uphold the Gospel and show us all that “Living, Loving and Serving
joyfully” is not only reserved for the few but for all of us!
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
« What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save you? » James 2 :14
This is what motivates these exceptional witnesses whose works we would like to honor.
All candidates share the same criteria:
 They are Disciples of Christ who, through their outstanding achievements and leadership among their peers, and their
community are exceptional witnesses in their local milieu.
 They must be available to personally receive their award :
Date : Saturday, March 28th 2015 at 5PM, at the World Youth Day 2015 Eucharistic Celebration of the Passion
Location : Mary-Queen of the World Cathedral
 Youth Minister Award
 Missionary Disciple Award –
Young Adult -18-35 years old
A Youth Minister whose charism and works in the community, group, movement or
parish that they belong to is exceptionally remarkable. They work with young people,
and are witnesses of Jesus Christ, through their actions, their presence and their
accompaniment.
 Missionary Disciple Award
– Teen 13-17 years old
A young person whose zeal in the mission is remarkable. He / She takes initiative in projects that have helped revitalize
the Christian life of young people of the community. He / She has been inspired by the joy of the Risen One and never
ceases to spread this joy through simple but original pastoral initiatives to share the Good News and touch hearts
through the Word of God.
HOW CAN I NOMINATE SOMEONE?
OFFICIAL DEADLINE OF NOMINATIONS : March 19 2015
Select someone in your milieu that meets the general criteria of selection and those of ONE of the above awards. The
nomination of this person must be accompanied by at least three references. You can nominate only ONE person per
award.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MUST BE DONE VERY DISCRETELY. THE PERSON NOMINATED SHOULD NOT BE INFORMED OF THEIR
NOMINATION BEFORE THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE HAS OFFICIALLY SELECTED SOMEONE. IF THEY DO FIND OUT, PLEASE BE
SURE TO ADIVSE THEM THAT A NOMINATION DOES NOT ENSURE THE RECEPTION OF AN AWARD.
