Applications are invited for two postdoctoral positions to work with Professor Harry Anderson on the synthesis and testing of molecular devices for single-‐molecule electronics. Salary: £30,434 – £34,233 p.a. Closing date for applications: 06 January 2016 (12:00 noon) Interview dates: 22 and 26 January 2016 Start date: preferably by April 2016 (flexible) Relevant publication: Nanoscale 2015, 7, 13181 (http://dx.doi.org/10.1039/C5NR03294F) Both positions are funded by EPSRC for 3 years as part of a collaborative project "Quantum Effects in Electronic Nanodevices" (QuEEN, see: http://queenprogramme.org/) between Harry Anderson (Oxford University, Chemistry), Andrew Briggs, Lapo Bogani and Jan Mol (Oxford University, Materials) and Colin Lambert (University of Lancaster, Physics). Post 121311 will focus on organic synthesis of extended pi-‐systems. Candidates should have a PhD in Chemistry, or have submitted a thesis prior to taking up the appointment. Expertise in multi-‐step organic synthesis is essential. Post 121312 will focus on nanofabrication and charge transport experiments. Candidates should have a PhD in the physical sciences, or have submitted a thesis prior to taking up the appointment. Expertise in one or more of the following is essential: (a) single-‐molecule charge transport experiments, ideally at cryogenic temperatures, (b) nanofabrication of carbon-‐based devices, (c) physics, physical chemistry, physical organic chemistry or spectroscopy of molecular wires and/or organic semiconductors, (d) chemical functionalisation of graphene or carbon nanotubes. For further information and instructions on how to apply, see: http://www.chem.ox.ac.uk/job.asp?ID=949 and http://www.chem.ox.ac.uk/job.asp?ID=950 Four other related postdoctoral positions are also available (with the same closing date) through the Department of Materials; see http://queenprogramme.org/ The Department of Chemistry is an Athena Swan silver award holder. ____________________________________________
