2014 NOMINATIONS & CANDIDATE CAMPAIGNS CONSEIL SCOLAIRE DE DISTRICT

(1 member to be elected)
The Municipal Elections Act, 1996 provides that a candidate’s election campaign period begins on
the day he or she files a nomination for an office.
Money, goods and services given to and accepted by or on behalf of a person for his or her
election campaign are contributions. This can occur only after the individual intending to run for
office has been nominated.
Nomination Procedure:
1) Nominations for the above office, using the prescribed form, shall be filed only in the Office
of the City Clerk, 2nd floor, City Hall, 200 King Street West, Kitchener, either personally by the
candidate or by his or her agent,
• during the hours 8:30am to 5pm on any day until September 11, 2014 when my office is open to the public; or
• during the hours 9am to 2pm on Nomination Day, Friday, September 12, 2014.
The prescribed form is available in the office of any Municipal Clerk in Ontario.
2) The nomination shall be accompanied by
• a filing fee of $100.00 payable in cash, debit, certified cheque or money order
(payable to the City of Kitchener), and
• a declaration of eligibility, in the prescribed form, signed by the person being nominated.

La Loi de 1996 sur les élections municipales stipule que la campagne électorale d’un candidat
débute le jour où il dépose sa candidature à un poste.
Les espèces, les biens et les services donnés pour la campagne électorale d’un candidat, que ce
dernier accepte lui-même ou qu’un représentant accepte en son nom, sont des contributions. Les
contributions ne peuvent commencer qu’après le dépôt de la déclaration de la candidature de la
personne qui a l’intention de se présenter à un poste.
Procédure de mise en candidature:
1) Les mises en candidature pour les postes susmentionnés doivent se faire par le biais de
la formule prescrite et elles doivent être déposées au bureau du secrétaire de la ville de
Kitchener, 200 rue King Ouest, Kitchener, en personne par le candidat ou par son agent autorisé.
• entre 8 h 30 et 17 h durant la journée jusqu’à le au 11 Septembre 2014, lorsque mon bureau est ouvert au public; ou
• entre 9 h et 14 h le jour des déclarations des candidatures, soit le vendredi
12 Septembre 2014
On peut se procurer la formule prescrite au bureau de n’importe quel secrétaire municipal en
Ontario.
2) La déclaration de candidature doit être accompagnée de ce qui suit :

A Swimming Pool and Fencing permit is required for the installation of privately-owned in-ground, onground, above-ground and inflatable outdoor pools and hot tubs capable of holding 76.2 cm
(30 inches) of water or more.
To obtain your permit, a plot plan or survey of your property is required showing the location of the
swimming pool and/or hot tub in relation to the property lines and all structures on the property. The
drawing must also show the type of fencing that you intend to use, the location of the fence and any
other structures or adjacent fences within 1.5 m (5 feet) of the pool fence.

Cambridge Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts
Volunteer at the 2014 Cambridge Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts! The CMCA Special Event takes place
at City Hall (indoor and outdoor locations) on Friday June 20th from 4:30 to 11:30 pm. There will be
multiple performance areas/stages with live entertainment, food from local restaurants, and visual
art from Cambridge youth and adults. A special kids area will run from 4:30 to 6:00 pm, and then the
adult line-up begins at 6:30. Volunteers get a free t-shirt, snacks in the green room and everyone gets
time “off” to experience the festival. Volunteer positions include: Art-Hanging help, Set-up/Tear-down,
Information Booth/ticket sellers, Stage managers, Entrance greeters, Bartenders (must have smart serve
certification), Galleries Exhibition attendants, Green Room/Volunteer Headquarters attendants and

Arthur White Sports Bursary Fund
The Trustees of the Arthur White and Scott-Thompson Sports Bursary Funds are currently
seeking applicants for financial assistance.
Financial assistance is available to athletes who are:
a) Residents of Cambridge,
b) Registered members of a relevant athletic group in Cambridge,
c) Any team or athletic group representing the Cambridge at a Provincial, National, or International level of competition and who, at the discretion of the Trustees, are deserving of financial assistance.
The funds were initiated in response to the financial needs of many of the athletes that
represent our community in events outside the region, including provincial, national and
international competitions.

Heritage Conservation Master Plan for the Old Post Office Building

A public open house to discuss the Heritage Conservation Master Plan for the Old Post Office
Building will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Cambridge City Hall,
Bowman Room, 50 Dickson Street, Cambridge. The Heritage Conservation Master Plan will help
guide the project of re-purposing the Old Post Office into library and restaurant space. Anyone
who is interested is invited to attend.
A presentation to Council regarding the Heritage Conservation Master Plan will be made on June
23rd, at 7:00 p.m. at Historic City Hall, Council Chambers, 46 Dickson Street, Cambridge. A copy of the draft Heritage Conservation Master Plan 2014 is available at the following website:
www.cambridge.ca/PostOffice .
The Heritage Conservation Master Plan has been prepared for the property municipally known as’
the Old Post Office’, 12 ½ Water Street. The Old Post Office, a two and half storey stone building, is
located on the east side of the Grand River, designed by Thomas Fuller and constructed in 1885.
The Old Post Office building was designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act in 1982 by
City of Cambridge By-Law No. 2291. The site is recognized for its cultural heritage significance. The site was also recognized as a National Historic Site in 1982 and was listed on the Canadian
Register of Historic Places in 2009.
