NOTICE TO THE VOTERS OF ALL MUNICIPALITIES WITHIN THE REGION OF WATERLOO AND THE COUNTIES OF BRANT, HALDIMAND AND NORFOLK 2014 NOMINATIONS & CANDIDATE CAMPAIGNS CONSEIL SCOLAIRE DE DISTRICT CATHOLIQUE CENTRE-SUD (1 member to be elected) The Municipal Elections Act, 1996 provides that a candidate’s election campaign period begins on the day he or she files a nomination for an office. Money, goods and services given to and accepted by or on behalf of a person for his or her election campaign are contributions. This can occur only after the individual intending to run for office has been nominated. Nomination Procedure: 1) Nominations for the above office, using the prescribed form, shall be filed only in the Office of the City Clerk, 2nd floor, City Hall, 200 King Street West, Kitchener, either personally by the candidate or by his or her agent, • during the hours 8:30am to 5pm on any day until September 11, 2014 when my office is open to the public; or • during the hours 9am to 2pm on Nomination Day, Friday, September 12, 2014. The prescribed form is available in the office of any Municipal Clerk in Ontario. 2) The nomination shall be accompanied by • a filing fee of $100.00 payable in cash, debit, certified cheque or money order (payable to the City of Kitchener), and • a declaration of eligibility, in the prescribed form, signed by the person being nominated. The drawing must also show the type of fencing that you intend to use, the location of the fence and any other structures or adjacent fences within 1.5 m (5 feet) of the pool fence. The CMCA Special Event takes place at City Hall (indoor and outdoor locations) on Friday June 20th from 4:30 to 11:30 pm. There will be multiple performance areas/stages with live entertainment, food from local restaurants, and visual art from Cambridge youth and adults. A special kids area will run from 4:30 to 6:00 pm, and then the adult line-up begins at 6:30. The Heritage Conservation Master Plan will help guide the project of re-purposing the Old Post Office into library and restaurant space. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend. The Heritage Conservation Master Plan has been prepared for the property municipally known as’ the Old Post Office’, 12 ½ Water Street. The Old Post Office, a two and half storey stone building, is located on the east side of the Grand River, designed by Thomas Fuller and constructed in 1885. The Old Post Office building was designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act in 1982 by City of Cambridge By-Law No. 2291. The site is recognized for its cultural heritage significance. The site was also recognized as a National Historic Site in 1982 and was listed on the Canadian Register of Historic Places in 2009.
