NIGERIA
Met meer dan 150 miljoen inwoners is Nigeria het dichtstbevolkte land
van Afrika. De groeiende middenklasse vormt een enorme markt voor
consumptiegoederen zoals mobiele telefoons, auto’s, mode en onroerend
goed. Nog voor 2020 zou Nigeria Zuid-Afrika aflossen als belangrijkste
economie ten zuiden van de Sahara. Naast deze eerste plaats zou – volgens Goldman Sachs – het land in 2050 gekatapulteerd worden naar
nummer 11 in de lijst van belangrijke wereldeconomieën. De grootste
obstakels voor de economische groei zijn op dit ogenblik de tekortkomingen in de infrastructuur. De elektriciteitsnetten leveren gemiddeld
slechts drie uur per dag elektriciteit en zowel bedrijven als particulieren
zijn aangewezen op generatoren. Na decennia van politieke onrust en
militaire dictatuur vinden er sinds 1999 opnieuw democratische verkiezingen plaats. Sinds 2011 zijn er steeds meer aanvallen op christenen in het islamitische noorden. Maar dit zijn niet de enige spanningen
in een land met meer dan 250 etnische groepen en ongeveer 500 verschillende talen naast het Engels, de officiële taal. Zo kwam het in
januari 2012 tot een algemene staking in Lagos, omdat de overheid de
subsidies voor benzine wilde schrappen, wat de prijs zou hebben verdubbeld – uitgerekend in Nigeria, een land dat op de zesde plaats van
de grootste olieproducerende landen van de wereld staat. 80% van de
overheidsinkomsten komt uit de olieproductie, die op ecologisch vlak
bedenkelijk is. De inkomsten uit de oliewinning bereiken slechts selecte
delen van de bevolking, zodat de strijd om olie met maatschappijen als
Shell zelfs na een officieel vredesakkoord met de rebellen wordt voortgezet. Maar dit houdt investeerders niet tegen; met name vanuit China
is er interesse. En ook Duitsland doet mee: het door Duitsers opgerichte
bouwbedrijf Julius Berger is met 18.000 medewerkers een van de grootste werkgevers van het land. Van de hoofdstad Abuja (1,5 miljoen inwoners) tot Lagos, de economische metropool aan de Atlantische Oceaan
(naar schatting 20 miljoen inwoners), realiseert het grote projecten rond
onroerend goed en infrastructuur.

Werkt als: Vastgoedontwikkelaar en advocaat
Gespecialiseerd in de bouw en renovatie van woningen. Heeft voor de crash
van de banken op het competitief gedrag van de banken ingezet. Zodra een
stuk grond aan een bank werd verkocht, bouwde hij in de directe omgeving
een filiaal voor de concurrentie.
Hij zoekt: Europese architecten die duurzaam bouwen. Investeerders en
krediet om projecten voor betaalbare woningen te realiseren. Technologieën voor het bouwen van huizen.
Hij biedt: Toegang tot de Nigeriaanse woningmarkt. Er ontbreken 17 miljoen woningen in Nigeria. Projecten voor de bouw van luxehotels in Lagos;
er werd nog niet voorzien in 80 procent van de behoefte.
FRANK OKOH
Adi Investment
Ook bekend als: The German machine
Werkt als: Autorecycleerder en -expediteur
Op Duitse sloopwerven sloopt hij auto’s, rangschikt de onderdelen in een
container, stuurt ze naar Lagos en verkoopt daar alles op de markt. Hij
zegt dat men in Nigeria tweedehandsonderdelen uit Duitsland meer
vertrouwt dan nieuwe uit China. Golf II en Mercedes verkopen het beste.
In 40 minuten kan hij een auto demonteren.
Hij zoekt: Alle soorten oude auto’s om vanuit zijn Rothenburgs bedrijf,
dat oude auto’s verwerkt, naar Lagos te worden verscheept, evenals bedrijven die autoschroot uit Afrika willen recycleren.
Hij biedt: Alle soorten onderdelen, hele auto’s, transport en levering,
speciaal toegesneden op de Nigeriaanse markt.

FRIEDA SPRINGER-BECK
Springer Pinsel & EFCC (Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission)
Ook bekend als: The 419-Lady
Werkt als: Penseelfabrikant in Nürnberg en assistente bij de EFCC in
Lagos, waar ze strijdt tegen corruptie
Werd zelf opgelicht in de jaren 1970. Men had haar 22 miljoen winst
beloofd uit geld dat haar net overleden echtgenoot in een stroomgeneratorbedrijf zou hebben geïnvesteerd. Toen men haar 300.000 dollar
aan advocatenhonoraria had afgetroggeld, droogde de bron echter op.
Daarop vocht ze in Nigeria tientallen jaren lang voor een wet op, en een
speciale eenheid tegen economische criminaliteit. Vandaag maakt ze
deel uit van die eenheid, maar sinds ze het geld teruggewonnen heeft,
woont ze opnieuw in Duitsland en produceert ze borstels.
Ze zoekt: Slachtoffers van junkmails, zakelijke fraude en dating scammers, net als personen die in Nigeria werden opgelicht of Nigerianen
die door Europeanen werden bedrogen.
Ze biedt: Hulp en advies bij het proberen ophelderen van fraudedelicten.
Haar hoofdberoep is de productie van penselen voor kinderen, hobbyisten
en scholen.
OLUWAFEMI LADIPO
Bfems
Werkt als: Schoenfabrikant
Had nooit een vaste job na zijn schoolopleiding. Hij heeft door het op
straat verkopen van snacks het startkapitaal voor zijn schoenenwinkel
in Surulere bij elkaar verdiend. Op dit moment werken er vijf mensen
in de productie, in een enge ruimte. Ze produceren 200 paar designermodellen per maand, geïnspireerd op schoenen van Paul Smith. Vecht
tegen de concurrentie uit China.
Hij zoekt: Gereedschap en zolen om de productie van de huidige 200 paar/
maand naar 40.000/maand uit te breiden, evenals afnemers voor zijn
handgemaakte producten van het merk ‘Bfems’.
Hij biedt: Schoenen van de hoogste kwaliteit. Weet wat branding en
‘succesful dressing’ inhouden. Kennis van de Nigeriaanse schoenenmarkt, waar bijvoorbeeld dringende nood bestaat aan verkoopscentra
voor internationale merken, onderhoudsproducten voor schoenen of
orthopedische schoenen.

Werkt als: Predikant, filmproducent
Gespecialiseerd in kerkdiensten via de ervaring die hij in het verleden
opdeed als acteur. Daarnaast heeft hij een kleine filmproductiefirma.
Hij verhuurt ook camera’s, speelt booswichten in Nollywoodfilms en is
over het algemeen altijd op zoek naar interessante zaakjes.
Hij zoekt: Ruimtes voor het stichten van kerken in Europa. Leden voor
de gemeenschap, gelovigen van alle godsdiensten die zich wijden aan
Jezus Christus en zijn leer en daarbij gemotiveerd en gesterkt aan hun
eigen ontwikkeling willen werken.
Hij biedt: Bouwt zijn evangelische gemeenschap en haar kerk uit. Ziet
Europa als een markt voor zogenaamde ‘crusades’, namelijk als ‘kruistochten’ omschreven empathische en charismatische kerkdiensten/evenementen, die de lege kerken opnieuw moeten vullen.
BIYI TUNJI-OLUGBODI
Proven Ability
Ook bekend als: De vrouw die gelooft dat je je droom moet
waarmaken.
Werkt als: HR-manager & competentietrainer
Tunji-Olugbodi studeerde sociologie. Ze adviseert bedrijven die op zoek
zijn naar werknemers. Ze doet ook zelf aan training omdat haar klanten
vaak de expertise ontberen. Werkt in een soort van Nigeriaans bureau
voor arbeidsbemiddeling. Ze onderzoekt cv’s van kandidaten en toetst
die aan de arbeidsmarkt.
Ze zoekt: Duitse werknemers, werklozen of werkzoekenden na hun
scholing, die de moed hebben om de platgetreden paden te verlaten en
hun droombaan in Nigeria te zoeken.
Ze biedt: Met succesvolle Nigeriaanse carrières als voorbeeld wil ze bij
Europeanen interesse opwekken voor haar thuismarkt. Ze vindt de juiste
mensen, ook voor Nigerianen uit de diaspora die opnieuw een bedrijf in
Nigeria willen opbouwen.

voor succes steeds op verschillende paarden moet wedden
Werkt als: Veelzijdig beginnend ondernemer
Voordien was hij bankier. Samen met zijn Nigeriaanse partner wil hij
nu de TÜV (Technischer Überwachungs-Verein) naar Nigeria brengen.
Met Vivantes plant hij de bouw van een ziekenhuis en de opleiding van
ziekenhuispersoneel. Hij is betrokken bij de lancering van een mobiel
betalingssysteem voor de inning van belastingen en parkeergelden.
In Duitsland begeleidt hij Nigerianen die een opleiding zoeken en oudverzetsstrijders uit de Nigerdelta, die in Europa opgeleid werden en
gepacificeerd naar hun land moeten terugkeren.
Hij zoekt: Bedrijven die naar West-Afrika willen maar er geen contacten
hebben. Nigeriaanse delegaties die hij in Duitsland onder zijn hoede
neemt.
Hij biedt: Advies over zakelijke kansen in Nigeria, contactbemiddeling
met bedrijven en overheidsinstellingen, begeleiding in Duitsland en
Nigeria.
JUDE FEJOKWU

Ook bekend als: De man die zonder vrees of voorkeur zijn
mening geeft
Werkt als: Beleggingsadviseur
Doet analyses voor aandelenfondsen van Nigeriaanse bedrijven. Verifieert of de cijfers die in het jaarverslag worden gerapporteerd ook kloppen en gaat daarbij als een privédetective te werk. Hij is ervan overtuigd
dat investeringen op de beurs van Lagos de moeite waard zijn.
Hij zoekt: Fondsmanagers, bijvoorbeeld van banken, die in Nigeriaanse
bedrijven willen investeren. Duitse bedrijven die zaken willen doen met
Nigeriaanse bedrijven en behoefte hebben aan een betrouwbare partner.
Hij biedt: Voor uw investeringsprojecten: een deskundige analyse en
een inkijk in Nigeriaanse bedrijven. Stelt onafhankelijke rapporten op
voor uw bedrijf, gebaseerd op waarheid, vertrouwen, transparantie en
objectiviteit. Want de klant is niet het middel maar het doel.

Werkt als: Idee-ontwikkelaar en netwerker in de creatieve industrie
Expert in Afrikaans textiel, in het bijzonder Oostenrijks borduurwerk.
Afrikanen kopen in Lustenau sinds de jaren 1960 kwaliteitsborduurwerk, het beroemde ‘Gold von Lustenau’, voor hun talrijke feestelijke
gelegenheden. Ook Michelle Obama en modehuizen zoals Burberry, Louis
Vuitton en Marni laten zich tegenwoordig door Afrika inspireren.
Ze zoekt: Bedrijven uit de creatieve, textiel- en modewereld, om innovatieve ideeën en processen van textielveredeling (bijvoorbeeld kristallisatie) aan te bieden.
Ze biedt: Veldonderzoek, publicaties, lezingen en tentoonstellingen
over het onderwerp. Uitgebreide kennis over Afrika en de AfrikaansEuropese economische betrekkingen. Innovatieve technologieën voor
de decoratie van textiel en accessoires.
KESTER PETERS

Ook bekend als: The man who never gives up
Werkt als: Consultant in de olie-industrie, handelaar in siervissen
Hij kwam naar Duitsland om vissen uit zijn streek (de Nigerdelta) te verkopen. Vandaag adviseert hij een Hamburgs bedrijf over olievoorziening.
Bij een transactie zou hij als tussenpersoon per overgebracht vat een
makelaarsprovisie verdienen.
Hij zoekt: Oliemaatschappijen, partners in de olie-industrie en voor
olieproducten zoals diesel, benzine en kerosine.
Hij biedt: Een bedrijf voor de commercialisering van Nigeriaans aardgas in Duitsland, dat bijna op poten staat. Werkt aan een project voor
een olieraffinaderij die Nigeria in staat zou stellen niet alleen ruwe aardolie, maar ook de talrijke tussenproducten te exporteren of in eigen land
te verkopen.

Ook bekend als: De man die al de namen van zijn haltes in een
lied kan zingen
Werkt als: Bankier en lijkwagenchauffeur
Studeerde in de VS, werkte voor een bank en ging vervolgens aan de
slag in de transportsector. Met omgebouwde ambulances vervoert zijn
bedrijf vandaag lijken van migranten uit verre provincies van Lagos
naar hun thuisland, om ze er te kunnen begraven. Op de terugweg functioneren de lijkwagens als minibusjes. Bijgevolg dragen zijn auto’s ook
geen specifieke markering.
Hij zoekt: Overlevenden die hun familieleden willen transporteren.
Minibusjes en koelwagens voor het vervoer van voedsel, maar ook voor
een mobiele drankservice bij bruiloften of begrafenissen, wat grote evenementen zijn in Nigeria.
Hij biedt: Ervaring in de Nigeriaanse transportsector, alsook met verschillende types doodskisten.

NIGERIA
Avec plus de 150 millions d’habitants, le Nigeria est le pays le plus peuplé d’Afrique. La classe moyenne en plein essor constitue un immense
marché pour les biens de consommation tels que téléphones mobiles,
voitures, articles de mode et immobilier. Avant 2020, le Nigeria devrait
devenir la première économie nationale de l’Afrique sub-saharienne,
supplantant ainsi l’Afrique du Sud ; selon Goldman Sachs, il se hissera au rang de onzième puissance économique mondiale en 2050. Les
principaux obstacles à la croissance économique sont actuellement
les carences en matière d’infrastructures. Les centrales électriques ne
fournissent en moyenne que 3 heures de courant par jour, si bien qu’entreprises et particuliers dépendent totalement des génératrices. Depuis
1999, les électeurs ont retrouvé la démocratie, après des décennies
d’instabilité politique et de dictature militaire. En 2011, les attentats
visant des chrétiens dans le nord musulman commencent à se multiplier. Mais ce ne sont pas les seules tensions qui affectent le pays, où
l’on dénombre plus de 250 groupes ethniques et près de 500 langues
parlées parallèlement à l’anglais, la langue officielle. En janvier 2012
par exemple, une grève générale paralyse Lagos suite à la décision du
gouvernement de supprimer les subventions pour l’essence, qui risque
de faire doubler les prix. Et ce au Nigeria, 6e producteur de pétrole du
monde. 80 % des recettes de l’État proviennent d’une exploitation pétrolière aux retombées environnementales préoccupantes. De plus, les
recettes générées par l’extraction de matières premières ne bénéficient
qu’aux couches privilégiées de la population ; raison pour laquelle la
guerre pour le pétrole menée par les rebelles contre des groupes tels que
Shell se poursuit, même s’ils ont officiellement déposé les armes. Mais
tout ceci ne freine pas l’afflux d’investisseurs, chinois en particulier.
Quant à l’Allemagne, elle suit le mouvement : l’entreprise de construction Julius Berger, fondée par des Allemands, est l’un des plus grands
employeurs du Nigeria (avec 18 000 employés) ; elle réalise de grands
projets immobiliers et d’infrastructure dans une région s’étendant de la
capitale Abuja (1,5 millions d’habitants) jusqu’à la métropole économique Lagos située sur l’Atlantique (20 millions d’habitants estimés).

Spécialisé dans la construction et la transformation de biens immobiliers. Avant la crise bancaire, il a misé sur l’esprit de rivalité des
banques. Dès qu’un terrain était vendu à une banque, il construisait une
filiale pour la concurrence à proximité immédiate.
Il cherche : architectes européens pour la construction d’habitations
durables. Investisseurs et crédits pour réaliser des projets de logements
abordables. Technologies liées à la construction de maisons.
Il offre : accès au marché du logement nigérian. Il manque 17 millions
de logements au Nigeria. Projets pour la construction d’hôtels de luxe à
Lagos, où 80% des besoins ne sont pas encore couverts.
FRANK OKOH
Adi Investment
Également surnommé : la machine allemande
Activités : récupération et expédition d’automobiles
Il démonte des voitures bonnes pour la casse dans les parcs à ferraille
allemands, charge les pièces détachées dans un conteneur qu’il envoie
à Lagos et revend tout sur le marché. Il dit qu’au Nigeria, on fait davantage confiance aux pièces de rechange usées venant d’Allemagne qu’aux
produits neufs chinois. Les Golf II et les Mercedes se vendent le mieux.
Il est capable de démonter une voiture en 40 minutes.
Il cherche : toutes sortes de voitures usagées à expédier vers Lagos
depuis son site de recyclage de vieilles voitures (qui est en projet à
Rothenburg), ainsi que des entreprises souhaitant recycler de la ferraille
venant d’Afrique.
Il offre : tous types de pièces de rechange, voitures complètes, transport
et livraison ; service spécialement conçu pour le marché nigérian.

FRIEDA SPRINGER-BECK

économiques et financiers)
Également surnommée : la dame 419
Activités : fabricante de pinceaux à Nuremberg et assistante auprès de
la EFCC de Lagos pour la lutte anti-corruption
Dans les années 70, elle-même s’était fait arnaquer en beauté. On lui avait
fait miroiter un gain de 22 millions grâce à un projet de production d’électricité soi-disant financé par les investissements de son mari récemment
défunt. Mais cette source de profits s’est volatilisée après qu’on lui eût
extorqué $300 000 pour honoraires d’avocat. Suite à quoi elle a bataillé
pendant des décennies pour que le Nigeria promulgue une loi sur les
crimes économiques et crée une commission spéciale à cet effet. Elle
est membre de cette commission, mais depuis qu’elle a récupéré son
argent, elle vit de nouveau en Allemagne et fabrique des pinceaux.
Elle cherche : victimes de spams, d’escroqueries économiques ou de
« love stories » (scamming), ainsi que des particuliers qui se sont fait
arnaquer au Nigeria ou des Nigérians escroqués par des Européens.
Elle offre : conseils et assistance pour élucider des délits d’escroquerie.
Son activité professionnelle principale est la production de pinceaux
pour les enfants, les loisirs et le milieu scolaire.
OLUWAFEMI LADIPO

Activités : fabricant de chaussures
N’ayant jamais trouvé d’emploi après l’école, il a travaillé dans la rue
comme vendeur de snacks, ce qui lui a permis de réunir le capital de départ
nécessaire pour ouvrir son atelier de chaussures à Surulere. Il occupe
maintenant 5 collaborateurs qui, dans un espace confiné, fabriquent tous
les mois 200 paires de chaussures de styliste inspirées des modèles de
Paul Smith. Il se bat contre la concurrence chinoise.
Il cherche : outils et semelles pour développer sa production et passer
de 200 à 40 000 paires, ainsi que des acquéreurs pour ses produits faits
main de la marque Bfems.
Il offre : chaussures de première qualité. Peut également vous parler de
promotion de l’image de marque et de « Successful Dressing ». Bonne
connaissance du marché de la chaussure nigérian, où il existe notamment un besoin criant de centres commerciaux vendant des marques
internationales, de gammes de produits de soin pour chaussures ainsi
que de chaussures orthopédiques.

Spécialisé dans les offices divins où son expérience d’acteur est mise à
profit. Parallèlement, il a une petite société de production de films, avec
location de caméras, et interprète des rôles de méchant dans des films
Nollywood ; toujours à l’affût de bonnes affaires.
Il cherche : locaux pour implanter son église en Europe. Des paroissiens,
croyants de toutes religions, qui se consacrent à Jésus Christ et à ses
enseignements tout en y puisant la motivation et la force pour œuvrer
à leur propre réussite.
Il offre : comme il est en train de développer sa congrégation évangéliste et son église, il estime que l’Europe serait un bon marché pour
ses « croisades », des cultes-événement empathiques et charismatiques
censés remplir les églises devenues vides.
BIYI TUNJI-OLUGBODI
Proven Ability
Également surnommée : la femme qui croit que l’on devrait
poursuivre son rêve
Activités : manager Ressources Humaines & perfectionnement des compétences
Cette sociologue diplômée conseille les entreprises en quête de maind’œuvre. Elle propose elle-même des formations car ses clients manquent
souvent d’expertise. Dirige une sorte d’agence pour l’emploi nigériane
et examine les CV des candidats pour en vérifier la véracité.
Elle cherche : des Allemands salariés, chômeurs ou demandeurs d’emploi ayant terminé leur formation qui auraient le courage de quitter les
sentiers battus et souhaitent trouver leur travail de rêve au Nigeria.
Elle offre : espérant intéresser des Européens au marché de son pays
natal, elle fournit de nombreux exemples de carrières réussies au Nigeria. Elle trouve toujours les travailleurs adéquats, aussi pour les Nigérians de la diaspora qui veulent monter une entreprise au Nigeria.

Également surnommé : l’homme qui dit que pour réussir au
Nigeria, il faut toujours miser sur plusieurs chevaux
Activités : entrepreneur de startups polyvalent
Ex-banquier, il veut à présent introduire le contrôle technique au Nigeria
avec son partenaire nigérian. Il planifie la construction d’un hôpital et
la formation du personnel en collaboration avec les cliniques Vivantes.
Il participe également à la mise en œuvre d’un système de paiement
mobile pour l’encaissement de contributions et de taxes de stationnement. En Allemagne il encadre des Nigérians en formation et d’anciens
combattants de la rébellion du delta du Niger, qui doivent rentrer au pays
avec une formation européenne et une volonté de paix.
Il cherche : entreprises ayant décidé de s’implanter en Afrique de l’Ouest

NIGERIA
With over 150 million inhabitants Nigeria is the most densely populated country in Africa. The growing number of small and medium-sized
enterprises forms a giant market for consumer goods such as mobile
telephones, cars, fashion, property. By 2020 Nigeria looks set to replace
South Africa as the most important national economy in the sub-Sahara
and – according to Goldman Sachs – by 2050 push up to number 11 on
the ranking of the economically most important countries in the world.
The biggest hurdles to economic growth are currently infrastructural
deficits. Power stations currently only deliver electricity an average of
3 hours per day – companies as well as private individuals have to rely on
generators. After decades of political unrest and military dictatorship,
1999 saw the reintroduction of democracy. Since 2011 there have been
increasing attacks on Christians in the Muslim north of the country.
But those are not the only tensions in a land with over 250 ethnic groups
and around 500 different languages, aside from the official language
of English. Thus, in January 2012 Lagos experienced a general strike,
as the government wanted to abolish the subventions for petrol, which
would have doubled prices overnight – in Nigeria of all places, a country
which ranks at number 6 on the list of oil-producing nations. 80%
of state income stems from the ecologically unsound production of
mineral oil production. The proceeds from crude oil production only
reach selected parts of the population, and so the fight for oil with companies such as Shell continues despite the establishment of peace
with the rebels. That does not keep back investors, in particular those
from China. Even Germany goes along with things: one of the largest
employers – with 18,000 employees – is the German-founded construction company Julius Berger, which realizes large-scale property and
infrastructure projects from the capital Abuja (1,5 million inhabitants)
to the Atlantic economic metropolis of Lagos (approximately 20 million
inhabitants).

He is looking for: All sorts of old cars to be shipped to Lagos from the
company base he is currently setting up in Rothenburg. Companies who
are interested in recycling scrap from Nigeria, such as metal, copper et
al. that he collects in Africa.
He can offer: Spare parts of all sorts, whole cars, transport and shipping
especially tailored to the Nigerian market.

In the 1970s she was herself ripped off. She was promised a 22 million
profit from an electricity generator’s business based on investments
her deceased husband apparently made. After she paid $300.000 for
lawyers’ fees the source of money dried up. Subsequently she spent decades fighting for a law and a special unit against economic fraud. Today
she is herself part of this organisation, but moved back to Germany
since she managed to get her lost money back and owns the paintbrush manufacturers Springer Pinsel.
She is looking for: Victims of spam-mail, economic fraud and lovestoryscamming as well as people who were ripped off or Nigerians who
have been betrayed by Europeans.

He is looking for: Tools and soles in order to raise his production from
currently 200 pairs to 40.000 a month. Buyers for his handmade Bfemsbranded products.
