Galerie Les Territoires donne forme au visage sombre
et prosaïque des machinations contemporaines.
A new solo exhibition in the two rooms of the gallery
gives fresh form to the shady and mundane aspects of
contemporary conspiracy theories.

La Galerie Les Territoires est fière de présenter La
Théorie du Complot de l’artiste Mathieu Lambert.
Fortement influencée par différents types de médias,
la pratique de Mathieu Lambert questionne, entre
autres, la production de modèles par les industries du
divertissement et la circulation d’imaginaires collectifs.
Pour La Théorie du Complot, il emprunte des approches
appartenant à la sphère du cinéma mêlant des souvenirs
personnels, des bribes d’imaginaire collectif et
d’actualité. Réunissant images photographiques, objets
fabriqués par l’artiste et des preuves d’événements fictifs
(empruntées dans un dépôt d’accessoires de cinéma), La
Théorie du Complot propose une enquête ouverte sur les
rapports imaginaires ainsi que les forces et les faiblesses
jalonnant les conspirations qui nous entourent.
Galerie Les Territoires is proud to announce the opening
of Mathieu Lambert’s solo exhibition La Théorie
du Complot. Influenced by a wide range of media,
including film, photography, design and architecture,
Mathieu Lambert’s practice engages, among other
things, with the workings of the entertainment industry
and the circulation of collective imaginaries. In La
Théorie du Complot, Lambert mixes strategies borrowed
from the world of cinema with personal memories,
news items and fragments of collective experience.
Bringing together pictures, objects made by the artist,
and documents of fictional events (rented from a cinema
production outlet), La Théorie du Complot proposes an
open investigation into the strengths and weaknesses
exposed by current conspiratorial narratives.
Mathieu Lambert né en France en 1986, vit et travaille
à Montréal depuis 2011 où il étudie à la faculté des
Beaux Arts de l’Université Concordia. Il a pris part
à nombreuses expositions au Québec et à l’étranger,
notamment à la galerie de Bailli, Epinal (2010); Margate
Photo Festival (2011); Triangle Gallery, Philadelphie
(2011); Naçao Gallery, Shanghai (2013); Design
Terminal, Budapest (2013); et French Restaurant,
Montréal (2014). Son projet Fake Tales of America
a paru en 2009 aux éditions French Fourch. Artiste
interdisciplinaire, Mathieu Lambert est également
l’instigateur de Matmos press, une maison d’édition
montréalaise dédiée à la publication de livres d’artistes.
Mathieu Lambert was born in France in 1986 and
currently lives and works in Montreal, where he is
pursuing a degree in Fine Arts at Concordia University.
He has participated in numerous exhibitions both in
Quebec and abroad, most notably at Galerie de Bailli,
Epinal (2010); Margate Photo Festival (2011); Triangle
Gallery, Philadelphia (2011); Naçao Gallery, Shanghai
(2013); Design Terminal, Budapest (2013); and French
Restaurant, Montreal (2014). His project Fake Tales
of America was published in 2009 by French Fourch
editions. An interdisciplinary artist, Mathieu Lambert
is also the founder of Matmos press, a Montreal-based
publisher specializing in artists’ books.
