International League of Dermatological Societies
Jerry Shapiro, MD, FRCPC
President, World Congress of Dermatology 2015
Harvey Lui, MD, FRCPC
Secretary-General, World Congress of Dermatology 2015
From June 20th to 23rd, 2013, Vancouver welcomed the Board of the International League of
Dermatological Societies (ILDS), along with four executive members of the Canadian
Dermatology Association for the official ILDS Site Visit.
Along with conducting
business meetings, the
official representatives,
accompanied by Congress
President and SecretaryGeneral, Drs. Jerry Shapiro
and Harvey Lui, toured the
main Congress venues - the
Vancouver Convention
Centre, the Fairmont Pacific
Rim Hotel, Fairmont
Waterfront, and the Pan
Pacific Hotel.
ILDS and CDA representatives also toured the city, traveling to Vancouver's renowned
Capilano Suspension Bridge Park and some even participated in an aerial tour of the city
traveling north to Shannon Falls, just outside of Whistler, and received a birds-eye perspective
of the city and Convention Centre.
An evening was set aside to show our visitors some of the cultural experiences delegates will
be able to enjoy in Vancouver including the Vancouver Jazz Festival in downtown Vancouver
and a lively performance of Hamlet at the "Bard on the Beach", an annual Shakespeare festival
set outdoors.
Vancouver was able to showcase many of the activities that the
city will have to offer delegates for the upcoming World
Congress of Dermatology including the re-launch of our website,
www.derm2015.org. With this quick sampling, many have
already expressed their excitement to return to Vancouver in
2015, and we are very excited to welcome everyone to Vancouver
for a Global Celebration of Dermatology in less than two years.
