The portraits and landscapes of Irving Penn, Richard Avedon and Brassai – to name but a few – hang from their arms like the replica images of a vulnerable museum or gallery.Inturn,theyholdouttotheaudienceoriginalprintsthat have made the history and iconography of the twen*eth century.
