C. LANDING THE BIG DEAL! HOW TO READY YOUR BUSINESS FOR LARGER CONTRACTS: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM (ICELANDIC ROOM)
For a small business, landing a deal as a supplier for a municipality or other large organization can be a dream come
true. But how do you turn that dream into reality? Meet the manager of Materials Management for the City of Thunder
Bay and learn what he looks for in a successful supplier. You’ll also hear how other small businesses landed their own
deals with larger buyers in the region.

B. GROWING NORTHERN ONTARIO AND THE ECONOMY: 3:10 PM – 4:00 PM

Even though women’s entrepreneurship in the North has grown significantly over the past decade, there is much
work to be done to fully capitalize on the economic impact these businesses—in addition to new ones—can have on
Ontario’s Northern economy. The consultation will focus on identifying the barriers and solutions to further support
the financial growth of women’s businesses in the North.
Government agencies/funders, First Nations community leaders, banks, and practitioners from economic, business
development, job development, and women’s support agencies are welcome.

From time immemorial Anishnawbe wisdom has been around, and the word MENTORING may not have been used
but the practise of mentoring has been here for a very long time. We will discuss the Seven Grandfather Teachings,
and introduce Aboriginal Women leaders who represent the Teachings.

find out that it was the owner behind the counter? This type of situation can be avoided if you know what your
business needs to succeed, what you do well, and recognize what you may not do as well. Are you spending too much
time on tasks others should be doing for you? This revealing workshop will provide you with valuable information on
what is working, what isn’t working and what you can do to enhance and grow a successful business. Get information
on wage subsidy options, apprenticeship grants, and potential employee placement opportunities to support your
business and provide valuable job skills training to other women.

vous? Cet atelier révélateur vous fournira de l’information intéressante sur ce qui fonctionne, ce qui ne fonctionne pas
et ce que vous pouvez faire pour mettre en valeur et faire croître une bonne entreprise. Obtenez de l’information sur
des options de subventions salariales, sur des subventions pour les formations d’apprenti, et des occasions potentielles
