ASTURIAS est un groupe issu de la première génération du rock Progressif nippon,
qui peut se flatter d'un accueil critique très positif lors de la sortie de ses deux albums studio.
Ceux-ci prolongeaient le discours musical de Mike OLDFIELD et CAMEL, avec des
mélodies délicates et des atmosphères soyeuses. Le groupe japonais sait également enchanter
l'auditeur en version unplugged, sous le nom de ACOUSTIC ASTURAIS. Publié
conjointement par les labels Poseidon et Musea, "Bird Eyes View" (2004) est un mini-album
de cinq pièces acoustiques, disposant d'une instrumentation très particulière: piano, guitare,
glockenspiel, violon, clarinette, et chant féminin sur un morceau. Voici une musique exquise
de délicatesse et de raffinement, pleine d’allant et vibrante de sensibilité. Les musiciens sont
des virtuoses, et cette musique de chambre limpide mêle des influences comme DEBUSSY ou
SATIE, à une approche plus moderne en matière de rythmes. A ne pas manquer !
ASTURIAS is a band from the first generation of the Japanese Progressive rock scene,
and its two studio albums received cirtical acclaim in the late Eighties. These a vein near
Mike OLDFIELD and CAMEL, with beautiful melodies and atmospheres. Published as a
joint-venture between the Poseidon and Musea labels, "Bird Eyes View" (2004) offers five
acoustic pieces with an original line-up : piano, guitar, glockenspiel, violin, clarinet, and
female voice on one track. Here's an exquisite music, delicate and refined, with joyful and
sensible atmospheres. The musicians are virtuosos, and this subtle chamber music sometimes
recall DEBUSSY's or SATIE’s most melodious pieces, with also a more modern approach on
rythms. Not to be missed !
