UNITED NATIONS SEVENTIETH ANNIVERSARY
Every year, we commemorate the founding of the United Nations and
this year, we will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Organisation
under the slogan “70 years for We the Peoples”. It is an opportunity to
spotlight where the UN – and the international community as a whole –
needs to redouble its efforts to meet current and future challenges across
the four pillars of its work: peace and security, development, humanitarian action and human rights. “Let us use this anniversary to reflect on the
lessons of seven decades, and reaffirm our commitment to serve “we the
peoples” and build lives of prosperity, security and dignity for all.”

70STE VERJAARDAG VAN DE VERENIGDE NATIES
Elk jaar herdenken we de oprichting van de Verenigde Naties. Dit jaar
vieren we de 70ste verjaardag van de Organisatie onder de slogan "70
jaar voor Wij de Volken". Het is een uitgesproken gelegenheid om de
aandacht te vestigen op punten waar de VN -en de hele internationale gemeenschap- zijn inspanningen moet verdubbelen om de huidige
en toekomstige uitdagingen tegemoet te komen en dat binnen zijn vier
pijlers: vrede en veiligheid, ontwikkeling, humanitaire actie en mensenrechten. "Laten we gebruik maken van deze verjaardag om na te denken
over de lessen van de voorbije 7 decennia en ons engagement te herbevestigen om "wij de volken" te dienen en levens op te bouwen op basis van
voorspoed, veiligheid en waardigheid voor allen."

70ÈME ANNIVERSAIRE DES NATIONS UNIES
Chaque année, nous commémorons la naissance des Nations Unies. En
2015, nous célébrons le 70ème anniversaire de l’Organisation dont la
Charte débute par ces mots : « Nous, les peuples ». Cet anniversaire est
l’occasion de mettre en lumière les domaines dans lesquels l’ONU, et la
communauté internationale dans son entièreté, doit redoubler d’efforts
afin de relever les défis d’aujourd’hui et de demain. Ceux-ci s’articulent
autour des quatre piliers de son travail : la paix et la sécurité, le développement, l’action humanitaire et les droits de l’Homme. « Profitons de cet
anniversaire pour tirer les leçons de sept décennies et renouvelons notre
engagement au service des peuples afin que chacun puisse vivre dans la
prospérité, la paix et la dignité. »
