Blood, an evening of fun and games…. on Saturday, March 29th, 2014 starting at 7:00pm in the parish hall. All
money raised will be going for our “new furnace”.

THEME: WITNESS TO HOPE
SAINT JOSEPH PARISH, in Lancaster is hosting a Lenten Mission from March 30th to
April 2nd, 2014. GUEST SPEAKER: FR. TIMOTHY NELLIGAN. Fr. Tim is a Chaplain
in the Military Ordinate of Canada and has comforted many of our soldiers. He has
ministered on many Canadian Bases and has even aided on several Canadian Missions.
Please join him as he brings all these gifts and more!

Bishop Pix Movie Series
Our March movie is “Mighty Macs”. It will screen each evening at the Port Theatre beginning at 7:15
p.m. from March 7th to the 13th. There will be a matinée at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10th. Local
sports aficionado and employee in the diocesan archives, Thom Racine, will introduce the movie opening
night and at the Monday matinée.
Lenten Family Mealtime
In addition to “Friday fish day”, designate one evening a week to prepare a meal together. Assign a different dish or
task to each family member. Before starting, discuss how each family member is giving to the others - giving time,
effort, and care to nourish the entire family to go out and do God’s will. Begin with a prayer of thanks and petition.

Ecumenical Lenten Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on South Lancaster on

love once gave us and your mercy now restores.

Mes vieux habits
J'ai laissé mes vieux habits, Mes habits de péché, Mes
habits du passé, Et j'ai revêtu des vêtements nouveaux...
Pour Toi, je m'habille de fête! Maintenant, mon cœur peut
changer. C'est comme si je devenais un enfant nouveau.
Tel un vêtement usé, Le passé est quitté. Pour Toi,
Seigneur, je m'habille de fête. Je t'aime, Seigneur Jésus. Et
le plus bel habit sur moi, C'est ton amour.
Dix conseils pour un bon carême
À ceux qui se demandent encore que faire pour le Carême, le cardinal Godfried Daneels, avec le bon sens et
l’humour qu’on lui connaît, adresse ces 10 conseils. Il y ajoute un avertissement : «Ci-joint dix règles pour un
bon Carême. Mais elles ne signifient rien, si elles ne nous rapprochent pas de Dieu et des hommes. Ou si elles
nous rendent tristes. Ce temps doit nous rendre plus légers et plus joyeux»
1- Prie. Chaque matin, le Notre Père et chaque soir le Je vous salue Marie
2- Cherche dans l’Évangile du dimanche, une petite phrase que tu pourras méditer toute la semaine.
3- Chaque fois que tu achètes un objet dont tu n’as pas besoin pour vivre - un article de luxe - donne aussi
quelque chose aux pauvres ou à une œuvre. Offre-leur un petit pourcentage. La surabondance demande à
être partagée.
4- Fais chaque jour quelque chose de bien pour quelqu’un. Avant qu’il ou elle ne te le demande.
5- Lorsque quelqu’un te tient un propos désagréable, n’imagine pas que tu doives aussitôt lui rendre la
pareille. Cela ne rétablit pas l’équilibre. En fait, tu tombes dans l’engrenage. Tais-toi plutôt une minute et la
roue s’arrêtera.
6- Si tu zappes depuis un quart d’heure sans succès, coupe la TV et prends un livre. Ou parle avec ceux qui
habitent avec toi : il vaut mieux zapper entre humains et cela marche sans télécommande.
7- Durant le Carême quitte toujours la table avec une petite faim. Les diététiciens sont encore plus sévères :
fais cela toute l’année. Une personne sur trois souffre d’obésité.
8- ’Pardonner’ est le superlatif de donner.
9- Tu as déjà si souvent promis d’appeler quelqu’un par téléphone ou de lui rendre visite. Fais-le finalement.
10- Ne te laisse pas toujours prendre aux publicités qui affichent une réduction. Cela coûte en effet 30% moins
cher. Mais ton armoire à vêtements bombe et déborde également de 30 %.
