French Classes (for all students)

Lucile Bertaux holds a Master’s degree in the Didactics of French as a Foreign Language
from Lille 3 University. Her expertise is in teaching French as a foreign language; in
particular self- autonomy in foreign language acquisition and in Technology Enhanced
Learning (TEL).
Since 2015, she has coordinated and taught French as a Foreign Language to Telecom Ecole de Management
and Telecom SudParis students.
As regards her professional background, she was pedagogical project manager in the French Embassy in Benin,
and she was of in the French language department head at the Sino - European Institute of aviation Engineering
in China. She has also coordinated French courses at the University of Versailles, France.
French classes
French classes are taught by experienced native instructors. With three hours of instruction every day, students
quickly gain confidence in speaking and writing basic French. Advanced students can improve their level as
well, with lessons and exercises adapted to their skills.
All classes aim to help students understand and speak as much French as possible both in and outside the
classroom! The stress is therefore put on oral activities rather than written work. The students will be offered
15 hours of French.
Students are divided into small groups according to level and a final test will reviews all the points learnt in
class. At the end of the Summer School program, each student is given a report assessing attendance, progress,
and participation as well as the grade obtained at the final test and a general comment by their teachers.
The syllabi below are given for reference only as the class content may vary according to the level of the
students and the group composition.
FRENCH FOR BEGINNERS
Objectives: Familiarize students with the French language and culture. Give them the necessary structures
and vocabulary to get by as a tourist in a French-speaking country. Emphasis will be placed on developing
speaking and listening skills.
