FEATURED POUILLY-FUMÉ
D. Dagueneau, "Buisson Renard", 2011 - $179
Farming individual vineyards in his hometown
of Saint-Andelain outside Sancerre, the wines of
Didier Dagueneau forever changed the potential
of Sauvignon Blanc. Practicing healthy, natural
farming while never accepting mediocre produce,
Dagueneau became the universal benchmark for the
varietal. We chose the Buisson-Renard vineyard
because it shows more complexity in its youth than
any of the other parcels. And because it is rockstar.

FEATURED PINOT NOIR
Freeman, Russian River Valley, 2013 - $121
Ken and Akiko Freeman are relative newcomers
to the Sonoma Pinot scene. A swirl and a sip are
all you need to see why they have developed such
a lauded reputation in a short time. The couple
endeavored to challenge the stereotype of what had
become "traditional" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.
The Freemans believed the right location and right
techniques in Russian River could produce wines
not only generous in fruit, but generous in complexity
and minerality-- much like their beloved Burgundy
Pinot Noirs. Almost 15 years later, the small winery is
still going strong, celebrating a number of accolades
and having had one of its wines served at a recent
White House State Dinner.

HERMITAGE
FEATURED HERMITAGE
J.-L. Chave, "Farconnet", 2007 - $169
If there were a name that was synonymous with
the hill of Hermitage, it would be that of Jean-Louis
Chave. The family began making Hermitage in 1481,
passing down wisdom through the generations to
create some of the most perfectly balanced wines
available. Traditionalists to the core, the key to
the perfect balance of his wines is the remarkable
blending skill. This creates wines of great
nuance, harmony, depth and aging potential. The
"Farconnet" cuvée is all estate fruit, made from 3
blocks of 12-60 year old vines on Hermitage.

J.-L. Chave, "Mon Coeur", 2013 - $60
The Rhône produces hedonistic wines, of which
the aromatics can only be described using offensive
language. This traditional Côtes-du-Rhône is
produced by the winemaker Jean-Louis Chave, who
balances Syrah and Grenache to produce wines of
character, complexity, funk, funk, and funk.

Azelia, 2011 -$107
This historic winery run by the lauded Scavino
family combines both power and elegance through
maniacal attention to detail in the vineyards. The
vines used for this wine are an average age of
40 years and produce very low yields -- which in
the economy of viticulture, less is more! Greater
concentration, ripeness, and aromatic complexity
create the ideal experience in the glass; or if you
prefer, a party in the mouth.

Numanthia, 2010- $119
The Numanthia 2008 vintage was special as it was
the first vintage at the winery for Manuel Louzada,
their current winemaker. After every vintage, he
wisely holds back an allotment of bottles with their
future undecided. These bottles remain at the
winery as his personal collection, aging beautifully in
ideal conditions. It was eventually decided that some
of these bottles should be released to the public in
order to demonstrate their incredible aging potential.
Using 100% Tinto del Toro (Tempranillo), this wine
is able to combine power and concentration of fruit
with the elegance and terroir of an Old World wine.

Nowhere else in the world can compete with these

sweet but just as complex with layers of exotic fruit
and honey that would make any foie gras blush!
