Chardonnay (White Burgundy)
I know many people gravitate toward California for Chardonnay, but why not try one from the grape's homestead? If you like bright,
crisp styles with more mineral and less oak, try a Chablis, Viré-Clessé, a Mâcon, or Saint Aubin (not to mention anything from
Oregon)… and if you're into bigger styles with more weight and oak presence, try something from Meursault or Montrachet!

Gris or Grigio? For a very light-bodied wine that is more citrus-driven, try a Pinot Grigio. If you are looking for something with more

"I only drink Champagne when I'm happy, and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone. When I have company, I consider
it obligatory. I trifle with it if I am not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it - unless I'm thirsty." ~ Lily Bollinger
Bubbles
Much like Lily (see above quote), I also believe that bubbles should be drunk on more than just special occasions. They can be fun,
easy, and refreshing; or they can be layered, complex, and intricate. Either way, they deserve to be enjoyed way more frequently
than they are. I have more bubbles in my cellar at home than anything else... because why not? Cheers! -Emily Ann

Dry Rosé
Rosé is another tragically misunderstood wine that is not just great in the summer, but all year round. All of ours are dry and made
from several different grapes (none of them Zinfandel). Rosé goes wonderfully with salad, poultry, other white meats, salmon… it is
versatile and merits as much respect as wine of any other color.

Pinot Noir (Burgundy)
California makes wonderful Pinots, but why not try a version of it from the grape's birthplace? For light, delicate, floral: go
Santenay and Savigny. For round, silky, dark: go Volnay, Pommard. Nuits-St-Georges. Cheers!

Pinot Noir (Elsewhere)
Oregon Pinots bridge the gap between Old World and New World styles. They have fruit and body but also have restraint, acidity,
and terroir. I've been to Oregon several times and am a huge fan of their wines.

Syrah/Shiraz
Looking for a full-bodied wine with dark fruit mixed with pepper and smoke? Try something from this section. For more lush, dark
fruit, go Shiraz. For earth, pepper, and terroir, try a French Syrah. For more concentrated fruit with a backbone of jerky spice, try
something from California or Washington.

The Rhône/Southern France
Wines from the Southern Rhône Valley and many other areas in Southern France are almost always blends whose predominant
players are usually Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, to name just a few. They span the gamut of medium- to full-bodied and fruitdriven to massive, earthy, and dry, but they all have one thing in common: solid structure, dark fruit, and pepper.

Italy
Italy can be a daunting wine region to delve into, mainly because there are thousands of grapes indigenous to the country that are
often found nowhere else. A whirlwind tour for where to start: for big, dry wines with flavors and aromas reminiscent of potpourri,
spice, and earth, try something from Piedmont. If you're a fan of Cabernet blends, try something from Tuscany. If you're a Zin
drinker or like wines with a bit more concentration of fruit, try something from Sicily or the Veneto.

Spain is a great place to start if you're looking to branch out from California and other New World red wine territories. Most
