Located in Rogers Pass National Historic Site in Glacier National Park, start date of May 15 and
end date of August 15, 2012. The Friends of Mount Revelstoke and Glaicer is looking for a Sales
Associate and Bookstore staff to be part of our dynamic team in Rogers Pass National Historic
Site in Glacier National Park. This position exposes the employee to experiences in the retail,
historic and tourism based industries.
Responsible for all aspects of working in a sales outlet: customer relations, product displays,
inventory management, daily cash out report and deposits, and operation of cash register and
point of sale software included in training.
Responsible for greeting people at the retail outlet in a professional and informative manner.
Develop knowledge of FMRG services and products, offering referrals and assistance where
required.

-Preference may be given to those students who are enrolled in palaeontology or the natural
sciences.
-While a background in palaeontology or natural sciences is not essential, an interest in
palaeontology or any related field is important.
-Basic public speaking skills or the willingness to independently deal with and provide information
to large groups of people is also important.
-A positive and responsible attitude is essential to being part of the Jurassic Forest staff.
-Jurassic Forest is located in a rural area near Edmonton so applicants will need to have a
vehicle or make arrangements to get to our location.
-Jurassic Forest is more than willing to hire individuals of any gender, ability, or social or racial
group.

-The interview process will be conducted in the last two weeks of March by the Technical
Resource Consultant (on-staff educator/palaeontologist).
-Job postings will go up in early March, and will be put on the Jurassic Forest website, CAPS
website, as well as other local classified websites, and the University of Alberta's student
newspaper.
-All YCW eligibility requirements will be determined before hiring by verifying all information given
by the applicant relevant to YCW requirements.

As an interpretive guide at Jurassic Forest, your duties revolve around providing educational and
additional information to the public at our facility. This includes providing educational tours to
large groups, many of which are schools, as well as walking the trails and providing people with
information about the dinosaurs at the park, flora, and fauna of the area.
Skills needed:
-Public speaking skills in both official languages
-A background knowledge or interest in palaeontology or the natural sciences
-A friendly, outgoing and positive manner
-Problem solving aptitude and the ability to understand the meaning of excellent customer service
-Willingness to learn new skills and expand knowledge base to better serve our guests
-Ability to anticipate the needs of our guests and possess excellent communication and
interpersonal skills
-A vehicle or means of transportation to get to the job site is beneficial to applicants
