Stay away from boring this school year! Get your kids excited about meals by being creative while keeping it simple.
Sign up for our September Back to School cooking class and learn from a registered dietitian four simple and easy
recipes. We will prepare a breakfast, a lunch, a supper and a snack idea.
The class includes a free supper, advice from a registered dietitian and the recipes.

Scribble Time
For children 3 to 5 years old and their parents/guardians and/or caregivers.
Writing is an important communication skill that children can start developing from birth. Before a child can write, they
need to build many physical, cognitive and communication skills. In this workshop, children will have the opportunity to
engage in activities focusing on different pre-writing skills. Be ready to discover and play!

Même si l’allaitement maternel est le moyen naturel de nourrir son enfant, il s’agit tout de même d’une compétence
acquise, autant que pour la mère que pour l’enfant. Afin de maximiser vos chances de succès, il est important d’amasser l’information et d’établir votre réseau de soutien avant l’arrivée de bébé. Venez à cette session d'apprentissage et
découvrez où vous pouvez obtenir du soutien à l’allaitement dans la région d'Ottawa. Cette session francophone est
offerte par une consultante en allaitement certifié IBCLC.

Bring your breastfeeding questions and concerns, talk about your joys and challenges or come just to listen. La Leche
League Canada Leaders are volunteers. They are experienced breastfeeding mothers who have been accredited to
provide up-to-date breastfeeding information, encouragement and support to other breastfeeding mothers.
Visit with a Dietitian (During Hunt Club Riverside Playgroup)
A registered Community Dietitian will be available during playgroup to answer questions and provide
information on healthy eating habits.
Little Lotus Yoga™ Mom & Baby—4 week series
This class is designed for infants 6 weeks to pre-crawling
Regain strength, flexibility and stamina as you bond with your baby in a supportive and welcoming environment. Tone
and lengthen your muscles, strengthen your posture, relax and rejuvenate, relieve tension
in the upper body, and safely rebuild core strength. Enjoy special time with your baby,
either holding your baby in your arms, leaning against your leg, on your front, sitting in your
lap or resting on a blanket. Please bring a blanket for your baby to sit on and a few
favourite toys. Special time is made for babies to enjoy their own yoga and bond with mom
through touch, movement and massage.
Unless otherwise specified, workshops and information sessions will only take

Pregnant? Make sure you know how to get breastfeeding off to a smooth start! Be ready BEFORE your baby arrives
by attending a prenatal breastfeeding session taught by a Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Each new mother will
receive a valuable information package and priceless confidence all FREE of charge. To register for this session:

An Early Years Educator will be available to answer your questions on toilet learning. Come and discuss signs of
readiness, tips on how to encourage independence in your child as well as the importance of a consistent routine.

A community health nurse will be available during playgroup to answer questions regarding your child’s development.
Little Book Worms: Halloween Fun!
For children 3 to 6 years of age and their parents/guardians and/or caregivers.
Join us for a spooktacular evening of fun as we read the story Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman followed by some fun
Halloween crafts and activities related to the book!
Visit with a Community Dietitian (During Baby and Me Playgroup)
A registered dietitian will be available during the baby group to give information on healthy eating for moms. Feeding
in the first 6 months, introducing solids to your baby and tips and ideas on how to make your own baby food will be
discussed.
Understanding Your Preschooler
Do you have questions about your preschooler’s behaviour? We can help you find the
answers. This workshop will help you recognize and understand behaviour traits characteristic and inherent to the preschool stage.

these tasks because you’re numerate. Numeracy is the ability to use mathematical concepts in everyday life.
Starting early will help your child develop a positive attitude for mathematical concepts to cope competently
and confidently with everyday situations that require an understanding of mathematical concepts. The Early
Literacy Specialists of Ottawa invite you to join them for an interactive numeracy workshop. This parent
workshop provides research informed resources, mathematical language and fun activities that you can enjoy

An Early Years Educator will be available to provide information and tips on healthy sleep habits,
and to discuss challenges or concerns you may be having. Handouts and book recommendations will be
provided. No registration required.
