Special Presentation: The Hermione
Returns to New England in 2015
Thursday July 10th, 2014 at 7:00 pm
Quinn Auditorium, University of Rhode Island

Andrée Madec-King of the Association Brest-Newport will give a special
presentation as part of the Université d'été du Rhode Island. Open to teachers of
French at any level, this event will showcase the process of creating partnerships
between Atlantic coastal schools in France and the US. It will also focus on the
arrival of L'Hermione, a reproduction of the famous ship of General Lafayette
who arrived with his troops in Newport, RI on July 11th, 1780. Come learn about
the 2015 commemorational voyage to the east coast just before the
anniversary of the original trip 235 years ago!
Free admission, no registration necessary. Presentation will be given in French.

Introducing ARTE Docs USA
The Cultural Services of the French Embassy and ARTE, the European cultural
TV channel, are thrilled to offer ARTE Docs USA, a selection of 47 French
documentaries, for American Universities, non-profit institutions, schools and
Alliances Françaises. These thought-provoking films are available on DVD or
digital file for screening in classes, film festivals, or special events. They are
available with English subtitles, with affordable screening rights, and are
sometimes non-distributed in the United States yet.
To order a film from the ARTE Docs USA list, please contact the distributors
directly (contact information available for every movie, in the list of films).

Les étudiants du Maine
French Heritage
Language Program ont
fêté la fin de l'année
20 mai 2014 au Club Calumet d'Augusta, ME
Professeurs, parents et enfants étaient réunis pour
une soirée de chants avec le musicien folk et conteur
Michael Parent et ont pu savourer des mets
typiquement franco-américains tels que la tourtière.
Les élèves qui ont suivi les cours du French Maine
Heritage Language Program pour l’année 2013-2014
dans les écoles d’Augusta et de Lewiston/Auburn
étaient ravis de recevoir leurs certificats des mains
de leurs professeurs ainsi que de petits cadeaux
remis par l’attachée culturelle du Consulat,
Emmanuelle Marchand.
Bravo aux enseignantes et coordinatrices du
programme : Chelsea Ray, Karen Foust, Diane
Pelletier-Perron, Doris Bonneau, Jacynthe Jacques
ainsi qu’à tous les associés culturels, assistants,
volontaires et sponsors qui font vivre French Heritage
dans le Maine !

2014-2015
French Films on Campus
Tournées Festival is a program of FACE, in
partnership with the Cultural Services of the French
Embassy, which aims to bring contemporary French
cinema to American college and university campuses
by facilitatating festival organization. Now in its 19th
year, the Tournées Festival program has partnered
with over 450 universities, reaching an audience of
over 500,000 students and community members
across the United States.

Les Alliances Françaises de Nouvelle-Angleterre offrent une panoplie de cours et

- L'Alliance Française de Boston (MA) accueillera les enfants de 3 à 13 ans du

(FLTA) program offers American schools the chance
to welcome young French educators to serve as
teaching assistants in their institutions. FLTAs lead
conversation groups, attend language laboratories,
research and create class materials, etc.
