Née en 1983, à Bordeaux, dans une famille passionnément
musicienne, Deborah Nemtanu a quatre ans lorsqu’elle choisit
le violon. La précocité dans la réussite et la diversité dans le
talent caractériseront son parcours.
Après avoir obtenu son prix première nommée en 2001 au
Conservatoire national supérieur de Musique de Paris, elle
multiplie les distinctions internationales : prix de l’Académie
Maurice Ravel en 2001, quatrième prix et prix spéciaux au
concours Jacques Thibaud en 2002, participation au Perlman
Program (USA) en 2007, deuxième prix du Concours Benjamin
Britten de Londres en 2008, couronné par un concert avec le
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
En 2005, elle est nommée premier violon solo de l’Orchestre de
Chambre de Paris, un poste de haute responsabilité qu’elle
occupe toujours aujourd’hui. A ce titre, elle se produit
régulièrement comme soliste au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées,
notamment dans le Concerto n°3 de Saint-Saëns, la Symphonie
espagnole de Lalo, le concerto de Brahms ou les concertos de
Bach, établissant au passage des relations de profonde
confiance avec des chefs tels qu’Andris Nelsons, Louis Langrée,
Juraj Val uha ou Sir Roger Norrington.
Curieuse
et
passionnée,
Deborah
Nemtanu
élargit
progressivement son champ d’action : en proposant des
programmes où elle passe habilement du violon à l'alto ; et en
en dirigeant elle- même l’Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, en
connivence avec les musiciens de l’orchestre, dans un véritable
esprit chambriste.
En 2015/2016, elle dirige des symphonies de Mozart à l’Hôtel
Sully à Paris (retransmis par France 3) et au Palais Farnèse à
Rome. En tant que soliste, elle joue au Festival Enescu et au
Festival d’Augsburg sous la direction de Sir Roger Norrington.
Elle se produit en solo – Paganini, Ysaÿe, Fazil Say – au Festival
de Montpellier, et en récital, tour à tour au violon et à l’alto, au
Musée d'Orsay ; au Festival des Midis-Minimes, à Bruxelles, son
premier récital avec la pianiste Natacha Kudriskaya est une
euphorie !
Au fil des festivals et des tournées, Déborah Nemtanu multiplie
les rencontres musicales fécondes, notamment avec Boris
Berezovsky, Stephen Kovacevich, Romain Descharmes, Jeanfrederic Neuburger, Adam Laloum, François Leleux, Emmanuel
Pahud, Fazil Say, Daniel Hope, sans compter sa sœur Sarah
Nemtanu, également violoniste, partenaire de toujours, avec
laquelle elle partage certaines de ses plus belles aventures.
Salué par la presse, son premier disque, consacré à Saint Saëns
et Fauré, sort en 2013, avec l’Orchestre de Chambre de Paris
placé sous la direction de Thomas Zehetmair (Mirare). En
décembre 2014, elle s’associe à sa sœur Sarah pour
l’enregistrement des concertos pour violon de Bach et de
Schnittke (Naive). En 2016, la sortie, par les mêmes, du CD
consacré à l’intégrale des Duos de Bartók paru chez Decca
ouvrira des horizons inattendus aux deux sœurs qui, en Mai
2016, partageront la scène du Grand Rex avec Iggy Pop…
Déborah Nemtanu a été nommée Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts
et des Lettres en février 2016.

Deborah Nemtanu is geboren in een familie met passie voor
muziek. Op haar vierde speelt ze al viool en ook in haar verdere
ontwikkeling geeft ze blijk van vroegrijpheid en veelzijdigheid.
In 2001 behaalt ze met eenparigheid van stemmen haar diploma
aan het Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris.
Het duurt niet lang voor haar talent ook internationaal wordt
erkend: zo behaalt ze de prijs van de Académie internationale de
musique Maurice Ravel, evenals de vierde prijs en twee speciale
prijzen op het Concours Jacques Thibaud in 2002. In augustus
2007 wordt ze geselecteerd om in de Verenigde Staten deel te
nemen aan het prestigieuze Perlman Program. In april 2008
behaalt ze de tweede prijs van de Benjamin Britten International
Violin Competition in Londen, waar ze samen met het Royal
Philharmonic Orchestra speelt. Ze baarde ook opzien met haar
solo uit Schéhérazade, begeleid door het London Symphony
Orchestra.
Sinds 2005 vervult ze bij het Orchestre de chambre de Paris de
functie van supersolist soloviool. Ze maakte indruk in het
Théâtre des Champs-Élysées met haar vertolkingen van onder
meer Saint-Saëns’ Derde concerto (dir. John Nelson), Lalo’s
Symphonie espagnole (dir. Joseph Swensen), Ravels Tzigane
(dir. Louis Langrée), het concerto van Brahms (dir. Juraj
Val uha) en Bachs vioolconcerto’s (dir. Sir Roger Norrington).
Deborah schakelt dan een versnelling hoger door programma’s
te spelen waarin ze vlot van de viool overstapt op de altviool.
Maar nieuwsgierig en gepassioneerd als ze is, blijft Deborah
Nemtanu de grenzen verleggen en gaat ze zelf het orkest
dirigeren. Doordat ze de band tussen de orkestmusici en zichzelf
als
soliste
nauwer
aanhaalt,
krijgt
het
concerto
kamermuziekallures. Zo speelde ze onlangs nog tot algemene
waardering Mozarts vioolconcerto’s in het Théâtre des ChampsÉlysées.
In seizoensprogrammaties en op festivals (onder andere de
Folles Journées de Nantes en het Tokyo Festival) speelt ze met
grote namen als Boris Berezovsky, Stephen Kovacevich,
François Leleux, Emmanuel Pahud of Jian Wang – telkens
vruchtbare muzikale ontmoetingen.
In 2013 verschijnt bij het label Mirare een cd met Frans
repertoire die door de recensenten wordt bejubeld. De opname
bevat Saint-Saëns’ Eerste concerto en stukken van Fauré, met
het Orchestre de chambre de Paris onder leiding van Thomas
Zehetmair. In december 2014 komt een opname van
vioolconcerten van Bach en Schnittke uit, waarin ze schittert aan
de zijde van haar zus Sarah Nemtanu. In 2015 neemt ze voor
Decca alle duo’s van Bartók op.
Deborah Nemtanu speelt op een Domenico Montagnana-viool
uit 1740, die haar in bruikleen is gegeven door Monceau
Investissements Mobiliers, onderdeel van het Monceau
Assurances-concern.

Born in 1983 in Bordeaux into a keenly musical family, Deborah
Nemtanu took up the violin at the age of four. Her career has
been characterised by early success and a wide-ranging talent.
After being unanimously awarded a prize with the highest
distinction at the Paris Conservatoire in 2001, her talent is soon
recognised at an international level: first prize from the
Académie Internationale de Musique Maurice Ravel, fourth prize
and two special prizes at the 2002 Concours Jacques Thibaud,
participation in the Perlman Programme (USA) in 2007, second
prize in the Benjamin Britten International Violin Competition in
London in 2008 after a final-round performance of Britten’s
concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra that was
universally hailed as remarkable.
In 2005 she was named the principal first violin of the Orchestre
de Chambre de Paris, a position of great responsibility that she
still holds today. In this capacity, she regularly performs as a
soloist at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, among others in
Concerto no. 3 by Saint-Saëns, the Symphonie espagnole by
Lalo, the Brahms concerto and the concertos of Bach, forging
relations of great confidence with conductors such as Andris
Nelsons, Louis Langrée, Juraj Val uha and Sir Roger Norrington.
Her curiosity and passion push her ever further: by directing the
orchestra herself, she can prioritise the collaboration between
herself as soloist and the orchestral musicians, bringing to a
concerto the sensibility of a true chamber musician.
In 2015–16 she conducted symphonies by Mozart at the Hôtel
Sully in Paris (broadcast on France 3) and at Palazzo Farnese in
Rome. As a soloist, she has performed at the Enescu Festival
and the Augsburg Festival under the direction of Sir Roger
Norrington. She has appeared as a soloist – Paganini, Ysaÿe,
Fazil Say – at the Festival de Montpellier, and has given recitals,
in turn on the violin and the viola, at the Musée d'Orsay. Her
first recital with the pianist Natacha Kudriskaya at the Festival
des Midis-Minimes in Brussels was euphoric!
Over the course of the festivals and tours, Déborah Nemtanu
made many fruitful musical encounters, among others with
Boris Berezovsky, Stephen Kovacevich, Romain Descharmes,
Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, Adam Laloum, François Leleux,
Emmanuel Pahud, Fazil Say, Daniel Hope, not to mention her
sister Sarah Nemtanu, also a violinist, her long-time partner,
with whom she has shared some of her most beautiful
adventures.
Warmly received by the press, her first CD, devoted to SaintSaëns and Fauré, was released in 2013, with the Orchestre de
Chambre de Paris under the direction of Thomas Zehetmair
(Mirare). In December 2014 she teamed up with her sister Sarah
to record violin concertos by Bach and Schnittke (Naive). In
2016 the release, by the same duo, of a CD devoted to the
complete duos of Bartók published by Decca, opened up
unexpected horizons for the two sisters who, in May 2016,
shared the stage of the Grand Rex with Iggy Pop …
Déborah Nemtanu was named Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et
des Lettres in February 2016.
