Ø English Language Arts:
Uses language to communicate and learn
Reads and listens to spoken, written and media texts
Produces written and media texts
I will be sending home class work, every 2-3 weeks on a Friday, with a parent signature
paper. I would like for you to look through your child’s work, sign the attached paper,
return the paper and the work on the following Monday. This will be in the courier bag for
LA. This is a great way for you to see what is happening in class.
RAZ KIDS – Raz Kids is an online reading program, where students read a short story
and answer questions related to the story. Every student will be set up while at school,
& we will use it in school, but you are more than welcome to use it at home.
WORD FAMILIES – Students will receive a new list of word families, in class. We will be
working on this during class time. There will be NO test on these words families.
SIGHT WORDS – There are 15 lists of sight words that students are expected to master
over the course of the year. These lists will be practiced in class and there will be NO
tests on these words.

Evaluated
DAILY 5 – is a Balanced Literacy program, which I have started to implement in class
(starting with Read to Self). It is center word based program which uses components
such as; Read to Self, Read to Someone, Word Play (where we will be working with word
families, sight words, which will alleviate some homework time), Listen to Reading,
Working on Writing, and Working with the Teacher. Please be patient with the start up of
The Daily 5, as it takes time to build up stamina to be able to work in groups and read
alone quietly.
Ø Mathematics:
Solves a situational problem
Uses mathematical reasoning
We are using a program called Numbers, there are two workbooks that will be used
throughout the school year. These workbooks stay in school, unless they need to study
for a test. I will only be assigning homework, if class work is not completed in a timely
manner or if there is an upcoming test that needs extra review at home.
There will be a weekly quiz, a monthly test, and a big review test on prior material every
2-3 months.

We will be using Reflex Math, it is an interactive online site. Every student will be set up
in school on Reflex math. Again, you are more than welcome to use this at home.
Ø Français, Programme d’immersion:
Communiquer en français (33%)
Comprendre des textes oraux et écrits en français (34%)
Produire des textes variés à l’oral et à l’écrit (33%)
Cette année, nous allons utiliser un cahier de grammaire intitulé Zig-Zag. Il y a deux
cahiers ainsi qu’un aide-mémoire. Chaque chapitre contient une lecture, des mots de
dictée, des exercices de grammaire ainsi qu’une situation d’écriture tout en lien avec la
lecture.
Dictée : Les dictées sont en lien avec la lecture du cahier de grammaire. Ce sont des
phrases non préparées et ils seront donnés toutes les deux semaines, les vendredis.
Il y aura un test de lecture chaque semaine. Nous allons alterner entre une lecture
préparée et une lecture non préparée.
Devoirs : Un minimum de 30 minutes par soir devrait être accordé aux devoirs en
français. S’il n’y a pas de feuilles de devoirs, les élèves sont encouragés à lire un livre,
écouté la radio ou la télévision en français. Le plus souvent que votre enfant sera
exposé au français, le plus vite qu’il maîtrisera cette langue.
Ø Arts plastiques
Bien qu’il y ait 3 compétences dans cette matière, il n’y aura qu’une seule note au bulletin
qui englobera les 3 compétences que voici :
Réaliser des créations plastiques personnelles
Réaliser des créations plastiques médiatiques
Apprécier des œuvres d’art, des objets culturels du patrimoine artistique, des
images médiatiques, ses réalisations et celles de ses camarades
Ø Éthique et culture religieuse
Bien qu’il y ait 3 compétences dans cette matière, il n’y aura qu’une seule note au bulletin
qui englobera les 3 compétences que voici :
Réfléchir sur des questions éthiques
Manifester une compréhension du phénomène religieux
Pratiquer le dialogue
Ø Géographie, histoire et éducation à la citoyenneté (univers social)
Bien qu’il y ait 3 compétences dans cette matière, il n’y aura qu’une seule note au bulletin
qui englobera les 3 compétences que voici :
Lire l’organisation d’une société sur son territoire
Interpréter le changement dans une société et sur son territoire
S’ouvrir à la diversité des sociétés et de leur territoire
