A la fin du mois je vais passer une commande de matériel pédagogique au ministère pour les
profs, et je voudrais que le plus de profs possible aient la possibilité de commander des
ressources.
Il faut regarder ce lien : www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/audiovisuel-educatif pour choisir ce dont vous avez
besoin. La commande, passée fin juin arrivera avant la fin d’août et je l'enverrai tout de suite aux
profs qui m'ont commandé des choses. Tout n'est pas toujours disponible, mais on fait au mieux.

FOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS : YOUR END-OF-YEAR HOLIDAY IN FRANCE WITH
A FAMILY & ATTENDING SCHOOL!
We still have a few families in Nevers hoping to welcome Australian senior high school students
during the period late-November 2010 to mid-February 2011. We recommend a minimum period of
30 days to make the language experience worth-while. The scheme has been put in place for
students for whom French is a major option at school, and who want to improve their spoken
French and understanding of French. Such students will be welcomed as members of their family,
all of whom have young people of equivalent age and with whom they will attend the Lycée St Cyr.
The Christmas-New Year holiday will obviously be spent with the family also.

REMINDER: Atelier "Jean de Florette" le 25 juin et Sessions TBI gratuites le 19 juin
Chers professeurs,
Nous organisons le 25 juin (16h30 - 18h30) à l’Alliance Française de Sydney un atelier spécial, «
Etude du personnage de Jean de Florette », pour les élèves en French Extension.
Cet atelier, à travers des activités menées en petit groupe et dirigées par Albana Bertin, permettra
à vos élèves de développer leurs idées et d’approfondir leur connaissance des passages clés de
Jean de Florette.
« Le personnage de Jean de Florette est un prisme au travers duquel Pagnol nous donne à voir
des lieux et une époque. Jean est le défendeur tragicomique du progrès et de la modernité. Il est
également le juge sévère de la routine et de la tradition. Jean s’élance avec enthousiasme dans le
monde paysan, peuplé d’âmes repliées sur elles-mêmes, malignes, conservatrices, et cyniques.
La confrontation le mènera à sa chute. Jean ignorera toujours que son destin tragique fut scellé
par des forces qui lui échappent, en la personne d’Hugolin, instrument d’une machination
orchestrée par le Papet. »
Cet atelier débutera à 16h30 et terminera à 18h30 et coute $30 par participant. Places limitées à
15 élèves maximum.

French teaching positions available
FRENCH TEACHER REQUIRED for part-time 0.5 temporary position. Position is for Terms 3 and
4, 2010 to commence with.
Teaching load is over 6 days to Years 8 and 9 French classes.

Rose Bay Secondary College teaches French in years 7 and 8 and the French teacher is on
extended sick leave. Unfortunately it is unknown for how long this leave will continue, so the school
can only offer casual blocks until the situation is resolved. Currently the students are not receiving
any French tuition – a very concerning situation.
The position is available now, and if anyone is interested, they should contact Mr Jim Linton,
Principal RBSC.

invites students to submit short films in French.
Context
The theme of your film is to be ‘Impossible n’est pas francais.’
Parameters and Specifications
 There are 4 divisions:
Stage 3
Stage 4
Stage 5
Stage 6
Years 5, 6
Years 7, 8
Years 9, 10
Years 11, 12

The length of the film is to be between 3 and 5 minutes, including credits.

Entries may be on commonly used video formats delivered on DVD, CD or thumb drive.

Entries may be by individual students or as collaborative projects.


Final Screening
School contact teachers will be notified by email whether or not the films will be included in the
finals for judging.
All participants will be invited to attend the final screening on Monday 13 September at 9am.
The location is the Astra Theatre, Queenwood School For Girls Mandolong Street, Balmoral.
Prizes ($100 of movie vouchers), including trophies, will be awarded to the winner in each division.
All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.
There may be a People’s Choice Award to be decided by acclamation at the film screening.
Judging
The judges will be announced closer to the Final Screening.

Criteria
Your film will be judged on the following criteria.
 Ability to engage the audience. This may be, among other things, through visual aesthetics,
such as costuming or setting.
 Correct use of the target language, French. the amount of French used and content of the
film in terms of language
 Creativity
 Technical quality of the film
Restrictions
 All entries must be submitted with the written approval of the Language Coordinator and
School Principal at your school.
 All films must be the original work of students and suitable for a youth audience.
 Films must be visually clear and audible.
 If music is included copyright laws must be observed.
 The judges’ decision will be final.

I was just wondering, is there a nice French light adventure style TV show, for instance in the style
of Inspector Rex that you might know of on DVD that would be good to show to Year
Sevens/Eights? - The sort of thing that is nice to show on Fridays, that would be rated suitable for
kids and is a bit exciting and would hold their attention. A tv show or even a movie
would be good.

FATFA selected to have its own space on the FIPF collaborative platform
FATFA, your federation of French teachers in Australia has been chosen as one of 16 associations
of French teachers around the world to feature first on the FIPF collaborative platform! It is an
interesting project as it allows FATFA to highlight the most interesting aspects of the life of our
associations of French teachers in Australia.
The executive committee is delighted to participate in this project and as a result FATFA will have
a dedicated space on the FIPF website which will become its official online site for all its members.

Comme vous devez le savoir, la FIPF mène actuellement un projet visant à la réalisation d’une
plate-forme collaborative en ligne destinée à l’ensemble des associations du réseau FIPF et de
leurs adhérents.
Les idées à l’origine de ce projet d’envergure sont non-seulement celle de profiter des moyens
actuels de communications pour permettre des échanges plus riches et soutenus entre la FIPF

et vos associations, mais aussi de permettre une communication entre associations et entre
professeurs de français du monde entier.
Ce projet arrive maintenant dans sa phase de développement technique les premières
informations concernant son fonctionnement effectif et la mise en place de votre site vous
seront bientôt communiquées par l’administrateur de la plate-forme, Benoît Frechon
([email protected]).
Cette plate-forme proposera différents espaces listés ci-dessous :

Un espace FIPF, regroupant les actualités de la FIPF, l’annuaire, l’agenda, etc

Les sites d’associations et de commissions

Un espace « Médias », donnant accès aux sites des médias de la FIPF à savoir la revue « Le français dans le
monde », « francparler.org », « Recherches et applications », « Dialogues et cultures » et la lettre
trimestrielle « échanges »

Un espace « Congrès », permettant une gestion en ligne des congrès mondiaux, régionaux et locaux

Un espace « Concours », présentant différents concours destinés à promouvoir la langue française dans le
monde

Un espace « Carrefour pédagogique », donnant accès à des ressources diverses (logithèque, médiathèque,
littérature, etc.), à un espace de mutualisation des expériences – ouvert à tous les professeurs qui souhaitent
partager des expériences de classe – et à l’espace recherche de la fédération

Un espace « Cultures en partage » accueillant « fadom », des dossiers de présentation d'une association et de
son pays, etc.




Comme vous pouvez le constater, parmi ces différents espaces de cette plate-forme, il y a en
aura un qui nous permettra de mettre chaque association et son pays à l’affiche. 16
associations (2 par commission) ont été choisies pour les premiers dossiers. Vous faites partie
de celles-ci et c’est donc pourquoi je m’adresse à vous.
Chaque dossier sera élaboré selon le plan suivant :
Introduction :
- Carte du pays, capitale et lieu d’implantation de l’association
- Bref aperçu géographique
- Bref aperçu historique (voir les guides touristiques, Planète…)

Nous avons chargé une jeune bénévole, Raïssa Mézières, d’élaborer ces premiers dossiers.
Elle sera donc votre interlocutrice dans les prochains mois. Je vous serais reconnaissante de
bien vouloir lui donner les informations dont elle aura besoin et qui n’ont pour but que de faire
connaître votre association, votre pays et votre culture.
D’autre part, tout visuel pouvant illustrer ce dossier serait le bienvenu. De plus, si vous pouvez
faire une interview d’une personnalité de votre pays (écrivain, etc.), cela serait formidable pour
mettre sur la plate-forme. Enfin, nous sommes preneurs de toute idée visant à animer ce
dossier.
Nous serions très heureux que cette opération réussisse.
