QUESTION AND ANSWER QUESTIONS AND CLARIFICATIONS: Clarification # 1 Please advise how many lineal feet of the rooftop safety railing are required for this job. Answer: The Roof Safety Railing layout is shown on 1/A2.8 and details on 3/A2.8 – See Architectural Drawing A2.8: Roof Plans – Building “A” and Building “B”. Clarification # 2 .1 Drawing A5.2 - Elevation D 7/A5.2: The elevation drawn is a duplicate of Elevation C 6/A5.2, which does not match the floor plan layout. Can the correct elevation be provided? Answer: Yes. Corrected elevation “D” for detail 7/A5.2 is attached as detail A501 herewith. .2 Drawing A5.2 - Elevation B 8/5.2: Elevation indicates island width to be 1525, floor plan indicates 1575. Which is correct? Answer: Elevation drawing is correct - island width should be 1525 mm. .3 Drawing A5.2: Elevation A 7/5.2 - Indicates both north and south elevations to have a countertop depth of 815. Elevation C - indicates the north elevation to have a 762 countertop depth. Please verify which is correct for the north elevation? Answer: Countertop depth should be 815mm. Clarification # 3 Section 12 35 53.13 Item 1.2 says all gas, air and vacuum cocks, faucets, tail pieces, strainers, traps, electrical outlets, non-integral sinks and drains are to be supplied and installed by this section. Section 22 42 00 Item 1.2.1.1 indicates the supply and installation of plumbing fixtures and trim to be provided by mechanical. The Fixture Schedule noted in mechanical drawings M-1, M-2 and M-4 also indicate that sinks and mechanical fixtures are supplied and installed by this contractor (assume mechanical). Please confirm who is to provide this scope of work? Answer: Section 22 42 00 will supply and install these items. We will clarify the sentence in Section 12 35 53.13 to reference Section 22 42 00, by this addendum. Clarification # 4 Section 22 42 00, Item 2.2 Fixtures, specifies Orion manufactured polyethylene sinks. Section 12 35 53.13 Item 2.19.4 specifies epoxy sinks. Please confirm epoxy sinks or polyethylene sinks?? Answer: Integral sinks to be epoxy sinks. Solicitation No. - N° de l'invitation Amd. No. - N° de la modif. No. - N° de réf. du client File No. - N° du dossier CCC No./N° CCC - FMS No./N° VME R.075695.001 PWC-5-38186 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________) Clarification # 5 Section 12 35 53.13, Item 2.14.1.3 specifies pegboard size to be 36” x 30”. All of the elevation drawings indicate the pegboards to be 36” x 36”. Please confirm pegboard size? Answer: Pegboard size should be 915 mm x 915 mm. We will revise the specification clause by this addendum. Clarification # 6 .1 Which section are the fume hoods to be supplied under?? Section 11 53 00 or 23 38 16? Answer: Fume hoods are supplied and installed by Section 23 38 16. .2 Section 11 53 00 Item 2.1.1 says: "The following laboratory equipment is to be purchased, installed and connected to new services as part of the work of this contract." Does this mean all items noted in this section are to be provided under Section 11 53 00? This obviously would include the fume hoods, acid and chemical storage cabinets etc., meaning Section 23 38 16 is for reference only for specification purposes, not that the fume hoods are to be provided by mechanical contractor under this scope of work? Answer: Section 11 53 00 outlines all of the laboratory equipment for this Contract that the General Contractor is ultimately responsible for. As new lab equipment purchased and installed under this contract, the fume hoods, acid storage cabinets, chemical storage cabinets and bio-safety cabinet are listed in Section 11 53 00, Paragraph 2.1 – New Laboratory Equipment with references to the mechanical sections under which they are specified. Clarification # 7 Similar to clarification #2, should all of the electrical fixtures etc. be supplied under Section 26 27 26 (electrical contractors)? Answer: That is correct. Exception is fume hood electrical components (eg. lights, outlets, etc.) which are by Section 23 38 16. Clarification # 8 Will you accept Daybar Steel Doors & Frames ( www.daybar.com ) as an approved equal. Answer: Yes, Daybar Steel Doors & Frames are acceptable and is added to the specification section by this addendum. Clarification # 9 Openings 114, 116, 118 and X118 are Type B-B and the Type B elevation has a half lite. There will be no room for a lite cut out in the inactive door. Should the inactive door be a Type D door. Answer: The narrow inactive leaf will be changed from type “B” to a type “A” door elevation for doors noted above. Clarification # 10 Opening 118A on the floor plan has a wall type 4 (150 concrete block) but the door schedule has it as a type I frame which is steel stud. What is required? Answer: Partition is Type 4 (150 conc. block). The HM door frame should be type 3 similar for new concrete block. Solicitation No. - N° de l'invitation Amd. No. - N° de la modif. What is required? Answer: A key cabinet is not required and will be deleted by this addendum. Clarification # 12 Can Standard Metal Auto Flush Bolts F73MD ( Metal Door ) and F74WD ( Wood Door ) be used as alternate equals for the Rockwood 2845 auto flushbolts. Answer: Standard Metal Auto Flush Bolt F73M is acceptable for both HM and wood doors. Clarification # 13 Can the following KN Crowder weatherstrip be used as alternates for Pemko? Pemko # 290ASKN Crowder # W-20S 1842APK CT-40N 255x5AFG CT-43-1 / CT-43-1 Frost Break 411ARL CT-51 355CS W-9S Answer: Yes – these are acceptable alternates. Clarification # 14 All of the 16 Ga. metal doors are steel stiffened. It is usually not recommended to use Steel Stiffened doors for exterior use as these doors only have the fiberglass insulation in every second rib. You will have frost on the inside of the door when it is very cold out. You will be able to tell when the insulation is and where it is not. Answer: We are deleting fiberglass insulation core and changing to 16 Ga. HM door with polyisocyanurate insulation at exterior locations, by this addendum. Clarification # 15 1) Section 11 53 00 Laboratory Equipment: certain items in this section are also specified in other sections: - Item 2.1.3 Fume Hoods (FH) also specified in section 23 38 16. - Item 2.1.4 Acid Storage Cabinets also specified in section 23 38 16. - Item 2.1.5 Chemical (flammable) storage cabinets also specified in section 23 38 16. - Item 2.1.6 Bio-Safety Cabinet (BIO-1) also specified in section 23 38 17. The above items should be carried by division 23 38 16 & 23 38 17 as they are part of the fume hood assembly. Answer: Correct, these items are to be provided by mechanical sections noted. See also answer to Clarification # 6. 2) Will all area of work be available at one time or will this be a phased renovation, please advise. Answer: The project is not phased per say. Building “B” is unoccupied and is available for the Contractor’s forces. Building “A” is occupied and as such scheduling of work in Building “A” spaces will require coordination with Owner.
