ACADEMIC DEAN
In accordance with Marianopolis College’s Vision and Mission, which is the realization
of an educational community of learning and teaching in which the student is the centre,
the Academic Dean is a senior leader of the management team who is directly responsible
and accountable for ensuring the fulfillment of the institution’s educational goals,
program outcomes and the overall quality of its education and academic integrity.
The Academic Dean drives the translation from the College’s strategic plan into
academic goals and advancing the College’s objectives as they relate to pedagogy. The
Academic Dean provides curricular leadership in relation to college-wide goals by
initiating, sustaining, delivering or eliminating academic programs and core curricula in
accordance with strategic planning goals. As a leading spokesperson for the College with
both the internal and external communities, he/she must be comfortable and skilful in a
role which requires a public presence. In sum, the Academic Dean is the principal
individual responsible for the successful management of all of the academic matters and
policies that shape the institution.
The ideal candidate holds at minimum a Master’s degree and has strong communication
skills (written and spoken) in English and French. This position requires teaching
experience and a minimum of 3 years of senior management experience in an institution
of higher education, including academic supervision, strategic planning and staff
management. The Academic Dean is recognized for possessing an innovative spirit in
pioneering teaching and learning methods and having the capacity to be decisive and
exert influence throughout the organization.

Le candidat idéal détient au minimum une maîtrise et a de fortes compétences en
communication, écrite et orale, en français et en anglais. Il détient un minimum de 3 ans
d’expérience en gestion dans une institution du secteur éducatif, incluant la planification
stratégique et la gestion du personnel. Cette personne est reconnue pour son esprit
innovant en matière de nouvelles méthodes d’enseignement et d’apprentissage et par ses
habiletés de leadership et de direction.
