Château Faugères 2001: tasting notes Guide GaultMillau 2006 Château Faugères 2001 is a rich, full, opulent wine although its tannins are firmer than those of the 2000. 2004 - Cuisine et Vins de France 14/20 Little by little, Faugères has joined the leading group. 2001 will consolidate this rise with a wine of classical style which boasts amplitude, fruity flesh, a strong structure and good length. September 2004 – La Revue du Vin de France Very unctuous, this wine is mature and rich with tannins that are still a little firm but with good volume. Suave finish. 30 June 2004 - The Wine Advocate – Robert Parker 90/100 One of the year’s revelations, produced by a wonderfully managed estate. The owner, Corinne Guisez, has fashioned a 2001 which is nearly as good as her 2000. Deep ruby/crimson with superb aromas of blackberry, raisins and liquorice, this dense, medium-bodied SaintEmilion displays striking purity, remarkable elegance and generous flavours and texture. In the glass, extra notes of mellowed liquorice and smoky cassis come to the fore. A delight to drink now and over the coming decade. June-July-August 2003 – Vignobles & Co For its gourmand side with notes of cooked fruit and caramel, rose jam and mild spices. Good fruit/acid balance on the palate. June 2002 – René Gabriel 16/20 Unglaublich dichtes Purpur mit fast schwarzen Reflexen. Intensives, extrem reifes Fruchtbouquet; eingelegte Rumtopffrüchte, Rosinen, junger Port.
