Marc Rambeau was born in 1945 in France, he has studied painting in France Le Tai Wo Estate School of Visual Arts and the National Arts and Crafts School in Nice. From 1968 onwards Rambeau's work took him to the South Pacific where he lived in New-Caledonia and Tahiti, and visited New-Zealand, Chile,Vanuatu, until 1985 when he took up residence in Australia. Now he spent half of his time in Australia Ainslie Cell Studio, which was found in the center of Canberra, half in his atelier in France Provence. As a travel artist, his art work relates to the places he went to and the views he saw: South Pacific Islands, Australia, bush, Asian and European natural, cultural landscape, figures and nudes. The forms of his paintings are creative and varied, he makes excellent use of color combinations, collage and images overlap. Between 1995 and 1996, Rambeau lived in Beijing for six months. This trip to China marks a new era of Rambeau’s paintings, because at Beijing he discovered the painting material: Chinese rice paper. After that, he has widely used rice paper in his paintings. He uses paint and Chinese ink on rice paper, his brush strokes and colors combine perfectly the tradition of Western painting and the strength and appeal of Chinese calligraphy, it’s philosophical. He puts rice paper affixed to linen of superior quality, to smooth rice paper, then puts a layer of protective oil to make the color more vivid, but also to save the rice paper to a more extended time. This creative method of painting is extraordinary and unique in the world, even in the history of art world. Rambeau's art work is free-spirited and unique, and it implies a simple style, but with Chinese philosophy and western spirit. Rambeau exhibits regularly in France, Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Noumea, Tahiti and other places. His collectors are all over the world, including important art institutions, galleries, embassies, consulates, private collectors and art lovers in the world.
