January 2014
Dear Friends! Liebe Freunde!

Happy New Year! In the past years, I have repeatedly thought that a newsletter
with upcoming events and artistically related activities in my life would be a
wonderful start into the professional world as a musician. Time flies like an arrow,
and I am already approaching my last semester of a very inspiring two-year
Master’s program at the Yale School of Music. I have had the opportunity to play
chamber music with fantastic musicians who became my friends. Furthermore, I
have learned from world-renowned guitarists and other artists such as Igudesman
& Joo in master classes and have been very fortunate to work with Yale composer
Van Stiefel. Most importantly, I feel ready to take the next step and to go out into
the world to perform as a classical guitarist!
I am extremely grateful for the great education and kind support I have received
from my teachers and mentors for many years.
In the future, I would like to keep you informed about my upcoming concerts and
warmly welcome you to join me if you are in the area. For that purpose, I decided
to create this newsletter which I would love to share with you once in a while.
At the beginning of this year, I recorded a new video of one of my all-time
favorite guitar pieces, La Catedral by Augustín Barrios Mangoré. Please enjoy and

Liebe Freunde!
Ich wünsche euch allen ein schönes neues Jahr! Es ist soweit, mein
Masterabschluss steht vor der Tür, und hinter dieser Tür beginnt ein neues Leben
außerhalb des goldenen Käfigs einer Universität. Die zwei Jahre an der Yale
School of Music waren in vieler Hinsicht eine tolle Erfahrung!
Ich hatte die grossartige Möglichkeit, mit einem talentierten Fagottisten und in
einem Gitarrenquartet Kammermusik zu spielen, in Meisterkursen von
erstklassigen Gitarristen und anderen Musikern wie Igudesman & Joo zu lernen,
und mit dem innovativen Yale-Komponisten Van Stiefel zusammenzuwirken.
Dabei konnte ich wertvolle Freundschaften gewinnen und gute Kontakte knüpfen.
Viele Leute haben mich bereits gefragt, wo und wann ich einen Auftritt habe. Ich
dachte, ein Newsletter (neben meiner Website www.katrinendrikat.com ) wäre
eine ideale Möglichkeit, um mit euch in regelmässigem Kontakt zu bleiben.
