HardElectro-Legende
Hocico ist wieder
im Studio! Racso ist dafür extra
nach Deutschland
gezogen und die
Arbeiten am neuen Album befinden
sich bereits in der
heißen Phase. Die
neue Scheibe wird
auf den Namen
„Tiempos De Furia“
hören: „Wir versuchen immer, an
die Oberfläche zu bringen, was wir denken, das schief läuft auf dieser Welt. Es gibt so
viel Scheiße und Leiden auf diesem Planeten, dass ‚Wut‘ eigentlich das beste Wort ist, um unser Gefühl zu beschreiben. Daher
der Titel“, erklärt Erk. Dass die Beiden diesmal in Deutschland
arbeiten, scheint sich ebenfalls auf den Sound niederzuschlagen. „Die deutschen Vibes werden sich sicherlich auf der Platte
wiederfinden, es ist einfach in vielerlei Hinsicht anders, als in
Mexiko aufzunehmen. Eine schöne Sache ist, z.B., dass ich einfach mein Laptop oder anderes Equipment ins Studio mitnehmen kann, ohne Angst haben zu müssen, dass es mir jemand
auf dem Weg klaut. Es ist zurzeit noch schwer zu sagen, wie
sich der äußere Einfluss einwirken wird, aber es ist sehr stimulierend, wieder direkt miteinander zu arbeiten. Das letzte Album
entstand größtenteils über das Internet und es ist einfach schön,
sich wieder freundschaftliche Kämpfe und Diskussionen liefern
oder sich auch einfach mal anschreien zu können, ohne das über
das anonyme Telefon machen zu müssen“, lacht Erk. Kann Erk
denn schon etwas über den Sound des Albums verraten? „Ich
glaube, man wird den Sound am besten mit dem Wort ‚Evolution‘ umschreiben können. Bei ‚Memorias Atrás‘ ging es darum,
die Vergangenheit hinter uns zu lassen. Jetzt fangen wir an,
genau in die Richtung zu wachsen, die uns vorschwebt. Es sind
Songs voller Energie und Aggression, Musik voller Herzblut mit
einem bösartigen, jungen Lebensgefühl. Das neue Album wird
wie eine Achterbahnfahrt mit dem Teufel.“ Und wem jetzt schon
das Wasser im Mund zusammenläuft, der muss sich auch nicht
mehr allzu lange gedulden, bis er den ersten Vorgeschmack
auf das kommende Inferno bekommt. Ende Juni, passend zum
Hocico-Gig auf dem E-Tropolis Festival in Berlin, erscheint die
neue Single „Dog Eat Dog“. „Es geht darin um das Prinzip des
‚Überleben des Stärksten‘. Der Song ist aufgeladen mit aggressiv pumpenden Beats und zeigt uns, wie gut es ist, wieder das
Biest zu füttern. Es ist der Track, der am besten repräsentiert,
wo wir uns als Band gerade befinden. Wir arbeiten auch gerade
an einem Videoclip zu dem Song“, verrät uns Erk. Man kann es
nicht anders sagen: 2010 wird definitiv ein Hammer-Jahr für
alle Hocicones. Erk nickt und setzt ein diabolisches Grinsen auf:
„Wir sind kurz davor, euch wieder zu beißen... und ihr werdet
es lieben.“

a wildfire: the Mexican Godfathers of Hard
Electro are recording a new album! Racso has
moved to Germany and, at the moment, he
and Erk are approaching the hot phase of recording. The album will be called “Tiempos De
Furia”, an apt reflection of the difficult times
this world is facing. “We always bring to the
surface what we think is wrong in the world
through our music and it is easy to see that
love is really not in the ‘air’ anywhere. There
is too much suffering and shit going on in the
whole world and we really think ‘fury’ is what
best represents how we feel right now”, Erk
explains. The different recording environment
in Germany certainly also reflects in the new
songs. “Definitely the German vibes will make
their way onto the record, and compared to
Mexico the experience is different on many
levels. It is just very good to take my laptop
or whatever other equipment to the studio
knowing that no one will try to steal it from
us on the way. At this point, it is a bit hard to
tell exactly what the outside influence is, but
working together in Germany is very stimulating for both of us and inspiring us in way we
haven’t felt for a long time. ‘Memorias Atrás’
was mostly composed over the internet and
it feels great to be able to have those ‘lovely’ fights and discussions plus the chance to
scream at each other’s faces and not over the
stupid phone, again”, says Erk. And what will
the album sound like? Erk reveals this much:
“The word that would describe the sound of
the upcoming album best is ‘evolution.’ ‘Memorias Atrás’ was all about erasing the past to
start over and I think that on this new album
we are really starting to grow in the direction
we both want. I think we are making songs
fulI of energy and aggression while remaining
relevant. It is blood-pumping music with an
evil, young spirit: this new album will be like
taking a roller coaster ride with the devil.” And
if this has got your mouth watering, we can
tell you that you needn’t wait long before you’ll
get your first taste of the upcoming inferno.
Hocico will be releasing the first appetizer in
form of the single “Dog Eat Dog” at the end of
June, right on time for the band’s show at the
E-Tropolis festival in Berlin. “The single will be
called ‘Dog Eat Dog’, and it is about ‘survival
of the strongest.’ The song is charged with aggressive pumping beats and really reminds us
how good it is to be back to feed the beast.
It is the song that best represents where we
are at as a band. We are working on a video
clip for the track, too.” 2010 will definitely be
a good year for all you Hocicones! Erk puts on
a diabolic grin and says: “We are about to bite
you again... and you will like it!”
