WRITERS INK Newsletter March 2012 It is perfectly okay to write garbage-as long as you edit brilliantly. Past event: Poetry workshop with Richard Toovey, 25 February We had a great time with British author and translator Richard Toovey at our poetry workshop at the Raabe-Haus. We had a look at haibun poetry, even sang a bit (!) and did inspiring writing exercises. My thanks go to Writers Ink. for funding the workshop, to Hans-Gerd Hahn for operating as amiable host, to the Raabe-Haus for having us, to Richard for holding the workshop and to everyone who participated (including Nelo from Berlin). Repetition welcome! Photo, from the left: Ottmar Bauer, Kathrin Marquardt, Simone Breier, Stephanie Lammers, Brigitte Paetzold, Richard Toovey, Nelo Locke, Janna Schiller, Mauricio Menendez Cina. Past event: Birthday Party, 26 February About 20 people gathered to celebrate 10 years of Writers Ink. Lawrence held a speech commemorating Writers Ink.‘s history (see attached pdf). There were culinary treats by Colette (the famous carrot cake), Anke and others (thanks to Ottmar for organizing food and beverages). Maren presented the texts written by members on De Chirico‘s painting Mystery and Melancholy of a Street. And there was a shared writing task: Every guest wrote a line, then Maren put the lines together – read our Birthday Poem in the second attached pdf and have a look at more photos from the party (thanks to Katerina and Jed!).
