Fixed security barriers for an off-shore platform. Problem: An important oil loading platform in the Persian
Gulf had already suffered several attacks from speedboats. The comprehensive security concept of the US
Navy required a final security ring to fend off possible attacks. Special requirements: The protection
system had to span widths of up to 60 m, combat large tidal differences and be resistant to wind, currents
and corrosion forces (seawater). Geobrugg’s answer: High-tensile SATURN nets are fixed to the platform,
without resorting to a wear-intensive floating construction. The use of stainless steel increases the service
life and a simulation test proves the resistance capability against penetration attempts.
