A meeting of two great musical traditions,
European classical music and African
percussions.
The talented violinist Virginie Robilliard,
teams up with the master percussionist
Thomas Gueï, in a riveting encounter
of great musical traditions, Western
classical and African percussion. This
unique performance entitled ‘Choc et
Fusion’ (Shock and Fusion) is a seamless
rendition of compositions for the violin by
Bach, poetically interpreted by Virginie,
against rhythmic drumming by Thomas
Gueï.
Born in a family of musicians, Virginie Robilliard gave her ¿rst public concert at the age of ¿ve. She
was awarded First Prize by the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon at seventeen.
She is a graduate of the Juilliard School, one of the world’s leading music schools located in the
Lincoln Centre for Performing Arts in Manhattan, New York City. Virginie Robilliard has performed
with orchestras such as the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra Philarmonique
of Radio-France, the Simon Bolivar Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Bogotá
Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre du Capitôle of Toulouse, Salta Symphony Orchestra in
Argentina, Orquesta Sinfónica of Venezuela & the San Salvador de Bahía Symphony Orchestra
in Brazil.
Thomas Gueï was born in Côte d’Ivoire. A master djembe player, he is one of the leading ‘New
Generation Percussionists’ trained in the West African musical traditions. He is also a dancer,
choreographer and actor and received his formal training at the Ecole de Danse et d’Echanges
Culturels (EDEC) in Abidjan Thomas played his ¿rst instrument, the gloé, when he was four years
old to accompany his father, a traditional dancer. Studying the traditional rhythms of his own ethnic
group, the Guerré, as well as those of other ethnic groups throughout Ivory Coast and Africa,
Thomas learned to play an array of percussion instruments. His instrument of choice is the tamanois
and djembé, musical instruments of the proud warriors of the Africa. Although deeply inÀuenced
by tradition, Thomas is also a product of today’s modern, globalized era, open to cross-cultural
encounters and inluences.
The duo are on an East African tour with performances in Nairobi, Bujumbura, Kigali and Kampala.

À l’approche de la conférence sur le
changement climatique “Paris Climat
2015” qui a lieu au mois de décembre,
l’Alliance Française et le Goethe-Intitut,
avec le soutien du fond de coopération
culturel franco-allemand et du bureau
de l’Unesco à Nairobi, présenteront
une production multidisciplinaire ayant
pour but de démysti¿er et de recadrer
le contexte complexe du changement
climatique.
Cette production est le résultat d’échanges entre les artistes kenyans, l’artiste français Jean Pierre
Népost (lumière et multimédia) et l’artiste allemand Eva Meyer-Keller (performance artistique et art
visuel). Sous la direction artistique de Sammy Mwangi et la direction musicale de George Ndiritu,
ils ont ensemble développé différents scénarios qui aboutiront à un spectacle pluridisciplinaire,
inédit, qui a pour but d’élever la prise de conscience à propos du changement climatique.

Une exposition en partenariat avec Yann Arthus-Bertrand et la Fondation GoodPlanet.
A travers 21 photos tirées du livre ‘60 solutions face au changement climatique’, cette exposition
met en valeur - par une référence à des projets ¿nancés par l’Agence Française de Développement
- des solutions concrètes dans la lutte contre le changement climatique et en faveur d’un modèle
de croissance sobre en carbone.
Participant à l’agenda des solutions, lancé par les Nations unies pour la réussite des négociations
de la COP21, l’AFD présente cette exposition dans les 70 pays où elle intervient. Cette dernière
fait donc le tour du monde tout au long de l’année 2015, une année particulière durant laquelle
l’ensemble des pays doivent se fédérer pour lutter contre le changement climatique a¿n d‘aboutir à
un accord international à Paris en décembre 2015.

M’appelle Mohamed Ali
Flyng shark (¿bre glass, cessna 103 aluminium scalesn KeDS, original wing parts
Walied Osman, un artiste multidisciplinaire d’origine afghane et américaine, expose une collection
d’œuvres d’arts qui est à la fois une déconstruction et reconstruction d’anciens avions et de vieilles
voitures. Le recyclage est au centre de son travail.
Citation d’une célèbre maxime d’ Antoine Lavoisier, unchimiste et biologiste français : ‘Rien
n’est perdu, rien n’est créé, tout est transformé’, emprunté du philosophe grec Anaxagoras de
Clazomenae.
Les œuvres d’art de Walied mélangent l’esthétique avec fonctionnalité et côté pratique en
transformant les matières recyclées en un art unique et fonctionnel de haute couture. Aussi, l’artiste
s’inspire des événement actuels pour réaliser ses œuvres, et ce, en utilisant le pouvoir de l’art a¿n
d’explorer les folies humaines.
Walied a étudié l’ingénierie électrique aux Etats-Unis. Sa revelation pour l’art vient de son travail
dans le transport et installation d’oeuvres d’art qui l’ont amene à cotoyer musées collectioneurs et
artistes du monde entier.

la vie de Guillaume Gallienne: ‘Le premier souvenir que j’ai de ma mère c’est quand j’avais quatre
ou cinq ans. Elle nous appelle, mes deux frères et moi, pour le dîner en disant : “Les garçons et
Guillaume, à table !” et la dernière fois que je lui ai parlé au téléphone, elle raccroche en me disant :
“Je t’embrasse ma chérie” ; eh bien disons qu’entre ces deux phrases, il y a quelques malentendus.’

‘M’appelle Mohamed Ali’ est une pièce que
l’écrivain congolais, Dieudonné Niangouna,
a écrite pour l’acteur burkinabé Etienne
Minoungou, autour de la vie du célèbre boxeur
noir américain. La pièce met en scène le boxeur
du siècle: brillant, investi, provocateur... On y
raconte ses combats les plus importants, son
titre de champion du monde qu’’il perdit en
refusant de faire son service militaire car ‘jamais
un Viët cong ne m’a traité de nègre’, ce même
titre qu’il récupéra 7 ans plus tard lors du match
du siècle, organisé par Mobuto au Zaïre en 1974.
Il faut dire que le visage, les traits durs, le regard vif d’Etienne donnent un curieux air d’Ali.
M’appelle Mohamed Ali est une création qui donne à réÀéchir sur la résistance, la foi en soi, la
complémentarité des êtres, la collectivité, la combativité et le franchissement des limites.
M’appelle Mohamed Ali (My name is Mohamed Ali) is a one man show by the Burkinabé actor,
Etienne Minoungou, who happens to bear a strong physical resemblance to the legendary
Mohamed Ali. Written for Etienne Minoungou by the Congolese writer Dieudonné Niangouna,
the play recounts the life of the brilliant and provocative heavywieight champion, Mohamed Ali.
It follows his story from his most important wins, to being banned and stripped of his title and
sentenced to ¿ve years’ imprisonment in early 1967 for refusing the Vietnam draft (“I ain’t got no
quarrel with the Viet Cong – they never called me nigger”), to the ‘rumble in the jungle’ when he
reclaimed his world title in 1974.
The play reÀects on the power of resistance, on having faith in oneself, on complementing one
another, on possessing a community spirit, a ¿ghting spirit and on pushing boundaries.
