A blend of 80 % Merlot and 20 % Cabernet Franc that hit 13,5 % natural alcohol, this wine
exhibits a dark plum/garnet color and a big, sweet kiss of black currants and sweet
cherries, with hints of roasted herbs and soil/earthy overtones. The s weetness of the
tannins, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, and lush, beautiful texture suggest a wine to
drink now and over the next 8-10 years.

Fine, lifted black fruit and floral perfume. Attractively concentrated fruit lifted by Cabernet
Franc and good natural acidity. It has lots of charm and is fine with decent tannins ; very
refreshing. Drink : 2013-2019.

Dark and winey at first, this turns suave and elegant as intriguing black currant, fig and
licorice aromas and flavors pick up Lapsang Souchong tea and graphite notes on the long,
polished finish. There's a nice mineral hint. Drink now through 2015. 3,416 cases made. —

A dense ruby/purple color is followed by sweet aromas of black raspberries, black
cherries, licorice, and nori (the seaweed wrapper used in sushi restaurants). This
attractive, medium-bodied effort possesses moderate tannin. It should be drinkable at a
young age, and last for a decade or more.

[…] Il y a heureusement des propriétaires agréables à fréquenter, et ce mercredi midi
Annabelle Cruse-Bardinet et son mari recevaient les courtiers et négociants bordelais
clients et amis de leur beau château Corbin, grand cru classé de Saint Emilion, situé dans
le secteur de Pomerol et non loin de Cheval Blanc.
Ici les vins sont plutôt dans le genre « classique », le terroir de Graves ne permet pas de
faire des « blockbusters » mais des vins dans l’élégance avec un équilibre et un fruit
éclatant, très appréciés d’une clientèle fidèle tant les prix sont angéliques et que la jeune
propriétaire - gérante - œnologue impliquée avec sa famille dans ce cru pour longtemps,
fait du bon travail.
On est loin ici des rapports de force et c’est bien pour ça que tant de négociants et de
courtiers importants étaient présents, et visiblement heureux d’être là !

From Anabelle Cruse-Bardinet. Bloody, tarry, very smooth and quite interesting even if not
very concentrated. Hint of fireworks / cordite and very polished. Good balance though not
an especially strong statement. Quite traditional. Drink 2015-23.

Ma meilleure note attribuée à ce cru en primeur.
Il se passe quelque chose à Corbin ! Depuis 2004, ce vin gagne un quart de point chaque
année lors de ma notation en Primeur. J’invité les amateurs à regarder ce cru
attentivement. Sa texture change et ses arômes se précisent. Il échappe de plus en plus à
l’image des vins de sable légers et faciles, longtemps associés au quartier des « Corbin »
à Saint-Emilion. Voici un grand succès du millésime et un grand succès de la propriété.
2008 s’inscrit ici dans la lignée des 2005, un brin de puissance en moins, mais quel
charme.
Couleur sombre, intense et belle. Nez se distinguant de ses pairs par son caractère
intense, aromatique, fruité, frais, mûr et finement crémeux. On pourrait se croire à
Pomerol. Entrée en bouche succulente et le vin se développe crémeux, associé à
beaucoup de goût en milieu de bouche. Tannicité enrobée, redoublée en finale de tannins
fins. Ensemble juteux et très hédoniste. Bravo !

My best rating ever given to this wine during futures campaign.
Since 2004, this wine has been raising with a gain of a quarter point (on the 20 scale
system) every new vintage during my tastings as futures. Something is going on at Corbin!
I invite amateurs to follow this estate quite closely. Its texture changes and its aromas are
getting more precise. It escapes more and more from the image of sandy soil based wines
that are light and easy, which image used to be associated for a long time to the “district of
the Corbins” in Saint-Emilion. This is a great success of the vintage and of the estate.
2008 is in the breed of the 2005 vintage at this property, with a tad less power, but
appearing so seductive. Showing an intense dark and lovely color, with a nose that is
distinguished from its peers by an intense, aromatic, fruity, fresh, ripe and finely creamy
character. One could believe that this comes from Pomerol. Succulent on entry, the wine
develops creamy with plenty of taste on the mid-palate. Overall, tannins are coated and
prove to be fine on finish. This wine is juicy and very hedonistic as a whole. Bravo!
