GROUP INSURANCE PLAN FOR
RETIRED TEACHING PERSONNEL WHO ARE MEMBERS OF FNEEQ (CSN) AND AREF
The group insurance contract covering retired teaching personnel who are members of FNEEQ (CSN) and AREF is renewed on January 1st,
2008. At the request of the insurance committee, we are forwarding to you the modifications and new rate schedule that will go into effect on
January 1st, 2008 to December 31, 2008.
ADDITIONS TO THE CONTRACT
HEALTH INSURANCE (Coverage for reimbursement of nutritionist and dietitian fees added)
Other eligible expenses are 75% refundable

The services of a nutritionist, dietitian, osteopath, naturopath or podiatrist, duly registered with the regulatory agency
governing his or her respective profession, up to a maximum reimbursement of $27.50 per treatment and $400 per calendar year,
per insured. However, a medical prescription is required for consultations with a nutritionist or dietitian.

When upon medical recommendation, a member or one of his or her insured dependents must travel outside his or her region in order to
consult with a specialist or to receive treatment, the following expenses are eligible and are 80% refundable up to a maximum amount of
$500:

If the situation requires travelling over at least 280 kilometres (total round trip distance) from the place of residence of the
insured person,
person the travel expenses by public carriers (bus, airplane, boat and train) or by automobile. Nonetheless, with regard to
travel expenses by automobile, eligible expenses are equal to those that would have been incurred if the means of transportation
used had been a bus.

To clarify the procedure used by La Capitale, the following section is hereby added to the contract:
Claims under Trip Cancellation Insurance
When filing a claim, insureds must provide the following supporting documents:

Unused travel tickets.
Official receipts for additional transportation expenses.
Receipts for ground travel arrangements and other expenses paid. Receipts must include the contracts officially issued by a travel
agent or accredited firm, specifying the non-refundable amounts in the event of cancellation. Written proof that the insured has
requested a reimbursement of travel expenses from the travel agent or accredited firm must be forwarded to the Insurer, along with
the reply received from the travel agent or accredited firm as to the outcome of such request.

Official documents certifying the reason for cancellation. If the trip is cancelled for medical reasons, the insured must provide a
medical certificate issued by a legally authorized physician practising where the illness or accident occurred. The medical certificate
must specify the complete diagnosis confirming the need to cancel, delay or interrupt the trip.
An official police report, if the means of transportation used is delayed because of a traffic accident or emergency road closure.
An official report issued by the appropriate authorities pertaining to weather conditions.
Written proof issued by the official organizer of a commercial activity confirming that the event is cancelled and the specific reasons
why.
Any other report required by the Insurer in support of the insured’s claim.
RATES
Please find below the new premium rates applicable from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008. Please note that each of the rates shown
includes a 5% reduction off the rates required by the claims experience for each benefit of the plan. This temporary rebate was made possible
by the surplus generated by the positive experience of the plan during the last few years.

À tous les ans, au moment du renouvellement du contrat d’assurances maladie et vie, La
Capitale assurance et gestion du patrimoine nous permet de nous adresser aux retraités
assurés qui proviennent de la FNEEQ. À titre de co-preneur, l’Aref veut en profiter pour
remercier ses membres de leur confiance et réitérer aux autres l’invitation à joindre nos rangs.
Actuellement, il y a près de trois mille retraités assurés et déjà quarante pourcent sont
membres de l’Aref. Il devient de plus en plus intéressant pour les retraités de joindre nos
rangs. Voici quelques bonnes raisons de ce faire :
> Le comité des assurances de l’Aref a obtenu, pour tous les assurés, une baisse de 5 % de
toutes les primes pour l’année 2008. C’est rare par les temps qui courent, n’est-ce pas? Si
vous êtes satisfaite ou satisfait du travail ainsi accompli, votre adhésion serait une façon
de nous le faire savoir et de nous encourager à continuer dans cette voie.
> Le 16 octobre dernier, l’Assemblée nationale du Québec a voté la création d’un comité
d’experts et de retraités pour étudier la question de l’indexation des régimes de retraite
pour les années 1982 à 2000. L’Aref participe à ces travaux par ses représentants à
l’Alliance des retraités. Tous les retraités en profiteront.
> La Capitale assurances générales offre des escomptes de 12 % et 10 % sur les primes
d’assurances automobile et habitation aux membres de l’Aref (de même qu’un autre 12 %
sur les motos et véhicules récréatifs, assorti, le cas échéant, de la cotisation annuelle
familiale à Air Medic). Seulement aux membres. Ça compense plusieurs fois pour la
cotisation à l’Aref, qui n’est toujours que de 2,50 $ par mois. Toute une aubaine, vous en
conviendrez!
> L’Aref-Info, notre journal publié en couleur deux fois par année, vous informe sur une foule
de sujets qui intéressent les retraités et un Forum Internet est maintenant accessible à nos
membres seulement.
Prochainement, nous serons cinq à six mille retraités; nous deviendrons une force pour
revendiquer des avantages de toutes sortes pour les retraités. Vous êtes donc bien en
mesure de voir l’importance d’adhérer à l’Aref et vous y êtes toutes et tous les bienvenus.
