WELCOME
The 64th International Congress of Aerospace Medicine (ICASM) will be held in New
Delhi, the capital of mystic India, home to one of the most ancient civilisations known
to mankind. Being organised at a facility adjacent to the International Airport, the
Congress shall provide an excellent opportunity for delegates to engage in
professional and social interactions. Delegates may also plan personal pre/post
Congress visit to some of the exotic locales of India, popular for their historical,
cultural relevance.
The Organising Committee invites all of you involved with Aerospace Medicine,
directly and indirectly, to be an actively participating delegate in this Congress. The
theme for the conference is 'Learn and Overcome'.The Organisers are striving hard
to put together an interesting scientific programme, complemented with an
educational visit to a military establishment and various social and cultural events in
the backdrop of a historically rich heritage city of New Delhi.

ANDRE ALLARD LECTURE
Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty is a cardiac surgeon by profession and is called
the Henry Ford of the heart surgery business for bringing change to
the 'hearts' of India. He is the founder and also leads the world's
largest and also the cheapest heart care institute called Narayana
Hrudayalaya. He is the first heart surgeon in India to venture into the
complex processes of a neo-natal open-heart surgery. He
performed the first open-heart surgery in the world to close a hole in the heart with
the help of a microchip camera. He used an artificial heart for the first time in India
and performed the first surgery in India using the blood vessels of the stomach to
bypass the blocked arteries of the heart. He also performed Asia's first dynamic
cardiomyoplasty operation. He is also responsible for introducing the concept of an
assembly line heart surgery, which aims at reducing the cost of surgery and achieving
zero mortality.
JOHN ERNSTING PANEL
Aero-medical Disposition: Learn and Overcome
With the advancement in aviation and evidence based medicine there is a
requirement to discuss the aero-medical disposals and issues related to decision
making. The panel will examine the important issues related to aero-medical decision
making which are of importance and would be of interest to the aviation community
and also ensure fitness of the aircrew towards promoting aerospace safety.
SUBROTO MUKERJEE ORATION
Dr. Soumya Swaminathan is an Indian Paediatrician and Clinical
Scientist known for her works in Tuberculosis. She is currently
positioned as Secretary, Department of Health Research -Ministry
of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and Director
General of Indian Council of Medical Research the apex body in India
for the formulation, coordination and promotion of Bio-medical
research. She holds M.B.B.S. from Armed Forces Medical College (India) and M. D.
from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, along with a Diplomate of National Board
from National Board of Examinations. She subsequently held Post Doctoral Medical
Fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Keck
School of Medicine at the University of Southern California.

Hindan Air Force Base and Aero Medical Training Centre (AMTC)
The Hindan Air Force base is a picturesque and beautiful with lush green lawns, trees and
gardens.The visit will include a tour of Aero Medical Training Centre (AMTC). The visit will also
encompass display of Rapid Action Medical Team and deployment of a Mobile Hospital.There
would be a display of the Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT).
Aero Medical Training Centre is one of the premier aircrew training centres of IAF. The
AMTC has a Night vision Laboratory and the Spatial Disorientation Simulator. The unit also
boasts of the newly acquired Ejection Procedure simulator used for training aircrew.
This educational visit will provide an opportunity to see the following facilities and speak to
personnel who perform these duties:-

SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS
The programme will include, among others, sessions on clinical medicine, human
factors, physiology, mental health issues, clinical cases and aeromedical decisionmaking.

ICASM 2016 will start accepting Abstract submissions by 9th May 2016. Please follow

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (CME)
CREDITS
The Congress programme will be accredited with CME hours by the International
Academy of Aviation and Space Medicine.
AFCME is a compact and specialized medical evaluation centre for aircrew of all three services
of the Armed Forces, paramilitary organization, State Government agencies, Flying Clubs and
Civil aviation. It is one of the premiere medical boarding centers of the IAF. In addition, the
establishment also provides specialist diagnostic and therapeutic services. The unit is ISO
9001:2008 complaint and accredited by National Accreditation by Board of Hospital and

Functioning of a civil aircrew examination centre.
The Indian Air Force Museum, Palam is located at the Palam Air Force Station in Delhi. The
Museum entrance features an indoor display gallery that contains historic photographs,
memorabilia, uniforms and personal weapons of the Indian Air Force from its inception in 1932.
The gallery leads to a hangar exhibiting small aircraft and Air Force inventory like anti - aircraft
guns, vehicles and ordnance. Larger aircraft are exhibited outside the hangar. The Museum also
has a small souvenirs corner.
This educational visit will provide an opportunity to see the following facilities and speak to

Delhi, the capital of India, is situated in northern India. Delhi is spread over an area of
1483 sq. kilometers, 216 meters above sea level and has a population of around 14

The conference venue for 64th ICASM 2016 including the individual scientific
sessions and exhibition space is ‘Peacock Ballroom’ of Hotel Pullman, Aerocity, New
Delhi.
The Organising Committee shall not be held liable for personal accidents, losses or
damage to the private property of registered Congress attendees. Attendees and
accompanying guests are strongly advised to purchase adequate travel insurance for

CONFÉRENCE ANDRE ALLARD
Le Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty est un chirurgien cardiaque de profession
et est surnommé le Henry Ford du domaine de la chirurgie
cardiaque pour avoir transformé les « cœurs » de l'Inde. Il est le
fondateur et dirige également l'institut de soins cardiaques le plus
grand et le moins cher du monde appelé Narayana Hrudayalaya.
C'est le premier chirurgien cardiaque d'Inde à s'être aventuré dans
les processus complexes de la chirurgie néo-natale et à cœur ouvert. Il a réalisé la
première opération à cœur ouvert du monde pour refermer un trou dans le cœur à
l'aide d'une caméra microscopique. Il a utilisé un cœur artificiel pour la première fois
en Inde et a réalisé la première opération en Inde en utilisant les vaisseaux sanguins de
l'estomac pour dériver les artères bouchées du cœur. Il a également réalisé la
première opération de cardiomyoplastie d'Asie. Il est également responsable de
l'introduction du concept d'une chirurgie cardiaque à la chaîne, visant à réduire le
coût de la chirurgie et à atteindre un taux de mortalité nul.

Disposition aéromédicale : Apprendre et surmonter
À la lumière des avancées dans l'aviation et la médecine basée sur des preuves, il est
plus que jamais important de parler des dispositions aéromédicales et des problèmes
liés à la prise de décisions. Le panel examinera les problèmes importants relatifs à la
prise de décisions aéromédicales qui est d'une importance cruciale et qui pourrait
profiter à la communauté de l'aviation et s'assurera également qu'elle s'adaptera au
personnel aérien tout en promouvant la sécurité dans l'aérospatiale.
DISCOURS DE SUBROTO MUKERJEE
Le Dr. Soumya Swaminathan est un pédiatre et scientifique clinicien
indien connu pour ses travaux sur la Tuberculose. Elle occupe
actuellement la fonction de Secrétaire du Département de la
recherche médical au sein du Ministère de la Santé et de l'Aide
sociale à la famille du Gouvernement indien, et de Directeur général
du Comité indien de recherche médicale de l'organe apex d'Inde
pour la formulation, coordination et promotion de la recherche biomédicale. Elle est
titulaire d'un M.B.B.S. de l'École de Médecin des Forces Armées (Inde) et d'un
Doctorat de l'Institut des sciences d'Inde, ainsi que d'un Diplôme du Comité national
des examens. Elle a également décroché une Bourse d'études de médecine post
doctorat en Pulmonologie pédiatrique à l'Hôpital des enfants de Los Angeles, École
de Médecine Keck à l'Université de Californie du Sud.

déploiement d'un Hôpital mobile. Il devrait y avoir une présentation de l'Équipe Air Warrior Drill

Établissement médical central de l'Air Force (AFCME) et Musée de l'Air force
L'AFCME est un centre d'évaluation médicale compact et spécialisé pour le personnel navigant des
trois services des Forces armées, une organisation paramilitaire, les Agences gouvernementales, les
Clubs d'aviation et l'Aviation civile. C'est l'un des premiers centres de soins médicaux de l'IAF. De
plus, l'établissement fournit des services de diagnostic et thérapeutiques spécialisés. L'unité est
certifiée ISO 9001:2008 et accréditée par l'Accréditation nationale du Comité des hôpitaux et des

Le Musée de l'Indian Air Force, Palam est situé à la Palam Air Force Station à Delhi. L'entrée du Musée
est pourvue d'une galerie d'exposition intérieure contenant des photographies historiques, des
souvenirs, des uniformes et des armes personnelles de l'Indian Air Force depuis sa création en 1932.
La galerie mène vers un hangar présentant un petit avion et un stock de l'Air Force comme des
pistolets, des véhicules et des munitions anti-avion. Les plus gros appareils sont exposés à l'extérieur
du hangar. Le Musée possède également un petit coin souvenirs.

Le Dilli Haat est une place en plein air où l'on peut manger et faire du shopping et qui
présente les différentes traditions culturelles de l'Inde. Il occupe une surface de 6 acres,
qui ont été sauvegardés dans le cadre d'un projet de réclamation et ayant été transformés
en place. Les produits proposés incluent des sculptures en bois de rose et en bois de
santal, des chaussures en peau de chameau décorées, des tissus et des draperies
sophistiqués, des gemmes, des perles, des bijoux en bronze, des objets en métal, et des
tissus en soie et en laine.
Mardi 8 nov 16 : De 9h00 à 13h00 Visite au Temple Aksahardham
le 1er août 2016. Il est fortement recommandé aux délégués de veiller à souscrire à un niveau
d'assurance annulation approprié afin qu'ils soient couverts ainsi que leur Accompagnateur.

Le Temple Aksahardham : Faisant partie des merveilles du monde, le Temple Akshardham

statues de bronze s'ajoutent au charme du complexe.

Emplacement du Congrès
Delhi, la capitale de l'Inde, est située au Nord d l'Inde. Delhi s'étend sur une superficie de 1
483 kilomètres carrés, est à 216 mètres au-dessus du niveau de la mer et compte une
population d'environ 14 millions d'habitants.
Le Comité organisateur ne sera pas responsable quant aux accidents personnels, pertes
ou dommages à la propriété privée des participants inscrits au Congrès. Il est fortement
recommandé aux participants et accompagnateurs de souscrire à une assurance voyage
adéquate pendant la durée de leur séjour.
Veuillez noter que le Congrès ne dispose pas de locaux pour accueillir les enfants.
Le lieu de la conférence du 64ème ICASM 2016 y compris les séances scientifiques et
l'espace d'exposition est la « Peacock Ballroom » de l'hôtel Pullman, Aerocity, New Delhi.
Informations relatives à l'enregistrement
Situé dans la destination tendance de New Delhi, le Pullman est proche de l'Aéroport IGI
et des centres d'affaires de Gurgaon et New Delhi. Avec 270 chambres et suites, un

L'équipement électrique en Inde est 230-240 V, 50 Hz. Les broches rondes sont
compatibles. Si vous souhaitez utiliser des appareils 110 volts, certains hôtels peuvent

universels.

L'hôtel Pullman, Aerocity, New Delhi est situé et interconnecté à l'hôtel Novotel. Ces

En Novembre, la température à Delhi est comprise entre 20 et 25 °C. Il est recommandé

Delhi. Toutes les compagnies aériennes majeures proposent des vols directs et des
correspondances depuis l'Aéroport international Indira Gandhi.
Les aéroports de toutes les grandes métropoles de Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad
et Kolkata sont reliés aux destinations internationales et proposent des correspondances
pratiques vers Delhi, pour ceux envisageant de faire des visites avant ou après le Congrès
dans d'autres régions de l'Inde, il peut être préférable de prendre contact avec notre

Les cartes de crédit comme American Express, Master Card et Visa sont largement
acceptées dans les hôtels. Toutes les devises étrangères convertibles peuvent être
