Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
In das Gehäuse kann eine 3.5"-IDE-Festplatte eingebaut werden. Der Betrieb ist über eine
USB2.0-/USB1.1- oder 1394-Schnittstelle möglich. Ein externes Netzteil (für 230V~/50Hz)
dient dabei zur Stromversorgung.

Verändern des Produkts nicht gestattet.
Der Aufbau des Produkts entspricht der Schutzklasse 2. Als Spannungsquelle für das Netzteil
darf nur eine ordnungsgemäße Netzsteckdose (230V~/50Hz) des öffentlichen Versorgungsnetzes verwendet werden.
Geräte, die an Netzspannung betrieben werden, gehören nicht in Kinderhände. Lassen Sie
deshalb in Anwesenheit von Kindern besondere Vorsicht walten.
Gehen Sie vorsichtig mit dem Produkt um, durch Stöße, Schläge oder dem Fall aus bereits
geringer Höhe wird es beschädigt.
Einbau einer 3.5"-IDE-Festplatte
• Stecken Sie alle Kabel vom Gehäuse ab.
• Entfernen Sie die zwei seitlich am Gehäuse liegenden Schrauben des hinteren KunststoffGehäusedeckels. Ziehen Sie danach die Platine mit dem Schnittstellenwandler heraus.
• Stellen Sie die Festplatte auf "Master" bzw. "Single" ein, siehe Bedienungsanleitung zu der
Festplatte. Auch im Internet bei den jeweiligen Festplattenherstellern finden Sie dazu weitere Informationen.
• Verbinden Sie das Flachbandkabel und den Stromstecker mit den jeweiligen Anschlüssen
der IDE-Festplatte. Achten Sie auf korrekten Anschluss des Flachbandkabels (Pin 1 ist durch
einen farbigen Streifen gekennzeichnet, Pin 1 auf der Festplatte liegt neben der Strombuchse).
• Schrauben Sie die Festplatte mit dazu geeigneten Schrauben auf der Platine fest (Vorsicht,
Platine der Festplatte wird durch zu lange Schrauben beschädigt). Achten Sie darauf, dass
die LEDs auf der Platine nicht beschädigt werden.
• Bauen Sie das Gehäuse wieder zusammen. Schieben Sie die Platine mit der Festplatte ins
Gehäuse, setzen Sie den hinteren Gehäusedeckel korrekt auf und schauben Sie ihn fest.
• Selbstverständlich kann anstelle eines USB2.0-Ports auch ein herkömmlicher USB1.1-Port
des PCs verwendet werden. Die Übertragungsgeschwindigkeit ist dabei aber sehr langsam
(USB1.1, ca. 1MByte/s).
• Windows ME und XP erkennen das Laufwerk automatisch; die benötigten Treiber sind in
Windows ME/XP enthalten, es ist keine Installation eines Treibers erforderlich. Für ältere
Betriebssysteme (z.B. Windows 98) ist die mitgelieferte Treiber-CD zu verwenden.

Vermeiden Sie folgende widrige Umgebungsbedingungen am Aufstellungsort oder beim
Transport:
- Nässe oder zu hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit
- Extreme Kälte oder Hitze, direkte Sonneneinstrahlung
- Staub oder brennbare Gase, Dämpfe oder Lösungsmittel
- starke Vibrationen, Stöße, Schläge
- starke Magnetfelder, wie in der Nähe von Maschinen oder Lautsprechern
Das Produkt gehört nicht in Kinderhände.
Verwenden Sie das Produkt niemals gleich dann, wenn es von einem kalten in einen warmen
Raum gebracht wird. Das dabei entstehende Kondenswasser kann unter Umständen das
Produkt zerstören.
Lassen Sie das Produkt zuerst auf Zimmertemperatur kommen, bevor es verwendet
wird. Dies kann u.U. mehrere Stunden dauern.
Achten Sie darauf, dass die Isolierung des gesamten Produkts weder beschädigt noch zerstört
wird.
Überprüfen Sie vor jedem Gebrauch das Produkt auf Beschädigungen!
Falls Sie Beschädigungen feststellen, so darf das Produkt NICHT an die
Netzspannung angeschlossen werden! Es besteht Lebensgefahr!
Es ist anzunehmen, dass ein gefahrloser Betrieb nicht mehr möglich ist, wenn
- das Gerät sichtbare Beschädigungen aufweist,
- das Gerät nicht mehr funktioniert und
- nach längerer Lagerung unter ungünstigen Verhältnissen oder
- nach schweren Transportbeanspruchungen.

Intended Use
A 3.5"-hard disk can be installed in the housing. Operation is possible through a
USB2.0/USB1.1 or 1394 interface. Anexternal power unit (for 230V~/50Hz) is used fort he
power supply.

Features
Avoid the following unfavourable ambient conditions at the installation location or during transport:
- Wetness or excessive humidity
- Extreme cold or heat, direc sunshinet
- Dust or combustible gases, vapours or solvents
- strong vibrations, impact or blows
- strong magnetic fields such as those found in the vicinity of machinery or loudspeakers.
The product has no place in the hands of children!
Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room to a warm one.
The condensation produced may destroy the product under certain circumstances.
Allow the device to reach room temperature before connecting it to the power supply.
This may, under certain circumstances, take several hours.
Ensure that the insulation of the entire product is neither damaged nor destroyed.
Always check the product for damage each time it is used.
If damage is found, the product may NOT be connected to the mains voltage.
This may cause fatal injury!

Servicing or repair work may only be carried out by a specialist workshop.
The guarantee will lapse in case of damage caused by failure to comply with
these operating instructions! We shall not be liable for any consequent loss!
We do not accept liability for personal injury or damage to property caused by

The product is designed in accordance with protection class 2. Only a correct mains socket
(230V/50Hz) for the public supply grid may be used as the source of power.
Reinigung
Zur Reinigung des Produkts genügt ein trockenes, weiches und fusselfreies Tuch.
Devices operated using the mains voltage must be kept out of the reach of children. Particular
care must therefore be exercised if children are present.
Tipps & Hinweise
Handle the product with care. It can be damaged through impact, blows or by being dropped
even from a low height.
• USB- und auch 1394-Geräte erlauben das Ein- und Ausstecken während dem Betrieb.
Sie sollten dabei aber beachten, dass evtl. Dateien beschädigt werden könnten oder
Windows abstürzen könnte, wenn bei einer Datenübertragung das Verbindungskabel herausgezogen wird (bzw. das Gehäuse ausgeschaltet oder das Netzteil abgesteckt wird).
Installation of a 3.5”-IDE hard disk
• USB2.0-Geräte sind abwärtskompatibel. Das bedeutet, dass das USB2.0-Gehäuse mit der
eingebauten Festplatte auch an herkömmlichen "langsamen" USB1.1-Ports funktioniert aber dann eben nur in der maximalen USB1.1-Geschwindigkeit (effektiv ca. 800kByte/s bis
1MByte/s).
Bei USB2.0 sind mehrere MBytes/s möglich, ebenso bei 1394-Betrieb.
Operation is only permissible in dry indoor areas.
It must be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if
- the device shows visible signs of damage
- the device no longer operates and
- has been stored for longer periods under unfavourable conditions or
- has been subjected to considerable stress in transit.
For safety and licensing (CE) reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modifications to the
product are not permitted.
Bei Windows ME/XP erscheint bei USB- bzw. 1394-Betrieb ein Pfeil-Symbol in der
Menüleiste, über das man Windows anweisen kann, das Gerät zu "trennen", die
Datenübertragungen also so zu beenden, dass man das Verbindungskabel gefahrlos
abstecken kann.
Handling
• Installation of 3.5"-DIE hard disk possible
• Compatible with USB2.0 and USB1.1. The high-speed transmission mode is used for the
USB2.0.
• Alternatively, connection to a 1394-interface is possible
Eine Wartung oder Reparatur darf nur duch eine Fachwerkstatt durchgeführt werden.
When setting up the product, make sure that the cable is neither bent nor squeezed.
Cleaning
The use of a dry, lint-free cloth is sufficient to clean the product.
Tips and information
• USB devices and also 1392 devices can be plugged in and out while in operation.
You should observe the fact thereby however that files could be damaged or Windows could
crash if the cable is pulled out during data transmission (or the housing switched off or the
power unit disconnected).
With Windows ME/XP an arrow symbol appears in the menu bar in USB or 1394 operation
through which you can instruct Windows to disconnect the device, i.e. to terminate the data
transmission so that you can disconnect the connecting cable without any risk.
• USB2.0 devices are compatible downwards That means that the USB2.0 housing with the
installed hard disks also functions on conventional, "slow" USB1.1 ports – but then only at
the maximum USB1.1 speed (effective approx. 800kByte/s to 1MByte/s).
With USB2.0 several MBytes/s are possible just as with 1394 operation.
• Remove all cables from the housing.
• Remove the two screws of the rear plastic housing lid located at the side of the housing. Then
pull out the circuit board with the interface converter.
• Adjust the lard disk to "master" or "single"; see operating instructions for the hard disk. You
can also find further information on the Internet under the various hard disk manufacturers.
• Connect the ribbon cable and the power plug to the appropriate connections of the IDE hard
disk. Pay attention to the correct connection of the ribbon cable (pin 1 is marked by a
coloured strip, pin 1 on the hard disk is located alongside the power jack).
• Screw the hard desk tight on the circuit board with suitable screws (caution, the circuit board
of the hard disk can be damaged by screws which are too long). Make sure that the LEDs on
the circuit board are not damaged.
• Assemble the housing again. Slide the circuit board with the hard disk into the housing, position the rear housing correctly and screw it together firmly.
Connection
• Switch on your computer and wait until the operating system has booted up completely.
• Connect the power unit of the external housing to the mains cable.
• Connect the external housing through the power jack on the rear to the supplied power unit
and insert the mains plug into a correct mains socket (230V~/50 Hz).
• Depending on which connections you wish to use (USB2.0 or 1394), connect the appropriate jack by means of the cable belonging to it to the corresponding interface of your PC.
Anschluss
• Schalten Sie Ihren PC ein und warten Sie, bis das Betriebssystem vollständig geladen ist.
• Verbinden Sie das Netzteil des externen Gehäuses mit dem Netzkabel.
• Verbinden Sie das externe Gehäuse über die Strombuchse auf der Rückseite mit dem mitgelieferten Netzteil, stecken Sie den Netzstecker in eine ordnungsgemäße Netzsteckdose
(230V~/50Hz).
• Je nachdem, welchen der Anschlüsse (USB2.0 oder 1394) Sie verwenden wollen, verbinden
Sie die jeweilige Buchse über das dazugehörige Kabel mit der entsprechenden Schnittstelle
Ihres PCs.
Verwenden Sie entweder den USB-Anschluss oder den 1394-Anschluss. Die
gleichzeitige Verwendung beider Anschlüsse ist nicht möglich!
Use either the USB connection or the 1394 connection. It is not possible to use both
connections at the same time.

• Of course you can use a conventional USB1-1 port of the PC instead of a USB2.0 ports. The
transmission speed is however very slow (USB1.1, approx. 1MByte/s).
• Windows ME and XP recognise the drive automatically; the drivers required are contained in
ME/XP meaning that no installation of driver is necessary. Use the supplied driver CD for older operating systems (e.g. Windows 98).

Utilisation conforme
Un disque dur DIE de 3,5 pouces peut être monté dans le boîtier. L´appareil peut fonctionner
par le biais des interfaces USB2.0/USB1.1 ou 1394. Un bloc d´alimentation externe (pour 230
V/ 50 Hz) sert à l´alimentation électrique.

• l est possible naturellement d´utiliser un port USB1.1. classique de l´ordinateur à la place
d´un port USB2.0. Mais la vitesse de transmission est très lente (USB1.1., env. 1MByte/s).
• Windows ME et XP détectent automatiquement le lecteur ; les pilotes requis sont compris
dans Windows ME/XP, il n´est pas indispensable d´installer un pilote. Utiliser le CD de pilotes
fourni pour des systèmes d´exploitation plus anciens tels que Windows 98.
Maniement
L'appareil ne doit être utilisé que dans les locaux intérieurs secs.
Il convient d'éviter les conditions défavorables suivantes au niveau du site d'installation ou lors
du transport :
- présence d'eau ou humidité atmosphérique trop élevée,
- froid ou chaleur extrêmes, exposition aux rayons directs du soleil,
- poussière ou gaz inflammables, vapeurs ou solvants inflammables,
- vibrations importantes, coups, chocs,
- champs magnétiques intenses à proximité de machines ou de haut-parleurs, par ex.
Ne pas laisser le produit à la portée des enfants !
Ne jamais se servir immédiatement du produit lorsqu'il vient d'être transporté d'un local froid
à un local chaud. Le cas échéant, l’eau de condensation qui se forme alors risque de détruire
l'appareil.
Attendre que le produit ait atteint à la température ambiante pour l´utiliser. Selon les
cas, cela peut durer plusieurs heures.
Caractéristiques
Veiller à ce que l'isolation de l'ensemble du produit ne soit ni endommagée ni détruite.
• Possibilité de monter un disque dur IDE 3,5 pouces
• Compatible avec USB2.0 et USB1.1, le mode de transmission High Speed est utilisé pour
USB2.0.
• Comme alternative: possibilité de connexion à une interface 1394
S´assurer, avant chaque utilisation, que le produit ne présente aucun endommagement !
Consignes de sécurité
Un fonctionnement sans risque n'est pas assuré lorsque
- l'appareil est visiblement endommagé,
- l'appareil ne fonctionne plus et
- après un stockage durant une période prolongée dans des conditions défavorables ou
- suite à de sévères contraintes liées au transport.
Tout dommage résultant d’un non-respect des présentes instructions a pour
effet d’annuler la garantie ! Nous déclinons toute responsabilité pour les dommages consécutifs !
De même, le constructeur n’assume aucune responsabilité en cas de dommages matériels ou corporels résultant d’une utilisation de l’appareil non
conforme aux spécifications ou d’un non-respect des présentes instructions !
De tels cas ont pour effet d’annuler la garantie.
En cas de dommages visibles, NE PAS brancher le produit dans une prise de
courant ! Danger de mort !
L’entretien et les réparations ne doivent être effectués que par du personnel qualifié.
Lors de l’installation du produit, veiller à ce que le câble ne soit ni coudé ni écrasé.
Nettoyage
Pour des raisons de sécurité et d'homologation (CE), toute transformation ou modification arbitraire du produit est interdite.
La construction du produit correspond à la classe de protection 2. Comme source de tension
du bloc d´alimentation, utiliser uniquement une prise de courant en parfait état de marche, raccordée au réseau d'alimentation public (230 V/50 Hz).
Tenir les appareils alimentés par le secteur hors de portée des enfants. Une prudence toute
particulière s'impose donc en présence d'enfants.
Ce produit doit être manipulé avec précaution – les coups, les chocs, ou une chute, même
d'une faible hauteur, peuvent l'endommager.
Montage d´un disque dur IDE 3,5 pouces
• Débrancher tous les câbles du boîtier.
• Retirer les deux vis du couvercle arrière en matière plastique, qui sont situées sur le côté du
boîtier. Enlever ensuite la platine avec le convertisseur d´interface.
• Régler le disque dur sur « master » ou « single », voir notice d´utilisation du disque dur. Vous
trouverez de plus amples informations également dans Internet, auprès des constructeurs
de disques durs respectifs.
• Relier le câble plat et le connecteur d´alimentation aux prises respectives du disque dur IDE.
Veiller au bon raccordement du câble plat (la broche 1 est composée de bandes colorées, la
broche 1 du disque dur se situe à côté du connecteur électrique).
• Visser à fond le disque dur sur la platine à l´aide des vis appropriées (attention : des vis trop
longues endommagent la platine du disque dur). Veiller à ce que les DEL de la platine ne
soient pas endommagées.
• Rassembler le boîtier. Introduire la platine avec le disque dur dans le boîtier, placer correctement le couvercle arrière du boîtier et le visser à fond.
Utiliser un chiffon doux, sec et non pelucheux pour nettoyer le produit !
Conseils & indications
• Les appareils USB et 1394 peuvent être branchés et débranchés lorsque l´ordinateur est en
marche.
Noter cependant que les fichiers peuvent éventuellement être endommagés ou que Windows
peut tomber en panne lorsque vous retirez le câble de liaison (ou éteignez le boîtier ou
débranchez le bloc d´alimentation) pendant le transfert des informations.
Pour Windows ME/XP, un symbole de la flèche apparaît dans la barre des menus pour le
mode USB ou 1394, permettant d´ordonner à Windows de déconnecter l´appareil, d´arrêter
les transferts de données de manière à pouvoir débrancher sans danger le câble de liaison.
• Les appareils USB2.0 sont compatibles avec les versions antérieures. C´est-à-dire que le
boîtier USB2.0 et le disque dur intégré fonctionnent également sur des ports USB1.1 classiques "lents" - mais uniquement à la vitesse USB1.1 maximale (effective d´environ
800kbytes / s à 1Mbyte / s).
Pour USB2.0, plusieurs Mbytes / s sont possibles, de même pour le fonctionnement 1394.
Raccordement
• Allumer l´ordinateur et attendre que le système d'exploitation soit entièrement chargé.
• Relier le bloc d´alimentation du boîtier externe au câble secteur.
• Relier le boîtier externe au bloc d´alimentation via le connecteur électrique situé au dos,
brancher la fiche dans une prise de courant en ordre de marche (230V/50Hz).
• Selon les connexions (USB2.0 ou 1394) que vous désirez utiliser, brancher la prise femelle
respective à l´interface correspondante de l´ordinateur via le câble approprié.
Utiliser la connexion USB ou la connexion 1394. Il n´est pas possible d´utiliser simultanément les deux prises.
