Introduction
This 31st edition of Libraries Canada, previously the Directory of
Libraries in Canada, includes 6,631 entries categorized in 5 broad
chapters: Public Libraries; College & University Libraries; Special
Libraries; Library Services & Resources; and Library Associations &
Groups. It also includes two Appendices with special collections and
resources for government information, and six indexes: Entry Name
Index; Archive Index; Government Libraries Index; Location Index;
Personnel Index; and Subject Index.
Over the years, Libraries Canada has provided the most comprehensive picture of Canada’s library community. This 2016–2017 edition
organizes all libraries into three main sections: Public Libraries;
College & University Libraries; and Special Libraries. The wide
range of informative data gathered from libraries across Canada is
current, and continues to be the hallmark of this outstanding
Canadian resource.

This section groups together a number of different resources that

This section includes nearly 300 listings.
Section Five: Library Associations, Consortia & Groups
These over 300 listings are crucial to the health of the library industry
in Canada. They are: Library Associations; Library Consortia; Library
Schools; Provincial & Territorial Agencies; and Regional Systems.
Two Appendices
Appendix 1 lists special collections in Canadian libraries that have
been determined to be of research value. Listed alphabetically, this
valuable section includes 280 profiles with detailed descriptions, primary language and number of holdings.
Appendix 2 is a list of depository libraries of Canadian government
information. Containing Canadian and International listings, this appendix includes approximately 800 entries.

La présente 31e édition de Bibliothèques Canada, anciennement le
Répertoire des bibliothèques du Canada, comprend entrées
réparties sous cinq grands chapitres: Bibliothèques publiques,
Bibliothèques collégiales et universitaires, Bibliothèques
spécialisées, Services et ressources pour bibliothèques et Associations et groupes pour bibliothèques. Elle comprend aussi deux annexes qui couvrent les collections spécialisées des bibliothèques
canadiennes, et les Bibliothèques de dépôt d’information de
gouvernement canadienne.
Depuis des années, Bibliothèques Canada offre sans contredit le
tableau le plus complet du monde des bibliothèques au Canada.

Cinquième section: associations, consortiums et groupes

du secteur des bibliothèques au Canada. Elle fournit de l’information
sur les Associations, les Consortiums de bibliothèques, les Écoles de
bibliothéconomie, les Organismes provinciaux et territoriaux et les
