Un jour un petit garçon est né aux États-Unis. Il n'était pas un très grand bébé. Il a commencé à courir des qu'il
a commencé a marché.
One day a little boy was born in the United State. He was a small boy. He learned to run before he
learned to walk
Tyson a commencé a jouer au football américain quand il avait trois ans. Il était toujours le meilleur
dans sa ligue. Il était très rapide et agile. Il a commencé a jouer au basket-ball à l'école secondaire et
presque tout suite il n'y avait une personne qui pouvait lui arrêter. Il était naturellement doué aux sports.
Tyson started playing football when he was just three years old. He was always the best on the field. He
was fast and agile. No one could catch him. In high school he started playing basketball and almost right
away no one could guard him. He was naturally gifted at sports.
À l'école secondaire Tyson a dominé ses deux sports le basket-ball et le football. Quand il n'a pas
joué aux sports, il ne faisait pas très bien à l'école et il n'a pas suivi les lois tout le temps. Un jour Tyson a
été dans une bagarre après l'école. A cause de cet incident il était mis en prison pour quelque mois.
In high school Tyson dominated in both football and basketball. He didn’t study hard and didn’t allways
follow the law. One day he got into a fight after school that left another boy injured so he was punished by
being put in jail for a few months
Quand Tyson est parti la prison il a dit à sa mère ‘‘Je vais jouer en NBA et je vais acheter une
maison pour toi.'' Tyson avait une tâché très difficile, il a ruiné son image, personne ne lui aimait. Il disait
qu'il aura un difficile temps, mais il doit commencer quelque part.
After Tyson left prison he told his mother “ I’m going to play in the NBA and buy you a house”. He had a
difficult road ahead of him, no one liked him. He knew he was going to have a hard time but he had to
start somewhere.
Tyson et sa mère décident qu'il doit commencer à jouer en NBA maintenant, donc il a quitté
Université pour les selections pour le NBA . Tyson n'aimait pas beaucoup parler, mais il disait aux médias
qu'il savait qu'il voulait être choisies première. Tout le monde écoute le choix de Philadelphia. Tout le
monde peut entendre le présentateur a dit les Philadelphia 76ers choix Tyson.
With the help of his mom he decided that he had to join the nba right now, so he left college for the NBA
draft. Tyson didn’t like speaking to the media but he told them that he knew he was going to get picked
first. Everyone was listening for the pick of the Philadelphia 76ers. Then the announcer says “ With the
first pick overall the Philadelphia 76ers select Tyson.”
C'était le premier jour de la saison et personne ne l’aimait. Il a essayé a dit quelque chose, mais
personne lui écoute. Il a essayé de parler au son coach, mais il a fait rien, donc Tyson avait une idée.
It was the first day of the season and clearly no one liked Tyson. He tried to talk to the team but no one
listened to him. He tried talking to his coach but he did nothing, so Tyson had an idea.
Tyson s’est dit ‘‘J'ai juste besoin de jouer mieux que tout le monde'', et Tyson a fait cela
exactement. Dans son premier match dans le NBA il a eu 40 points. Pour les saisons suivantes il a
dominé le NBA. Il n'y avait pas beaucoup des gens qui lui aimaient, plus il a fait du controverse parce qu'il
n'aime pas aller au pratiquer.
Tyson told himself “ I just need to play better than everyone”, and Tyson did exactly that. In his first ever
NBA game he scored 40 points! For the next few seasons he dominated the league, but still no one liked
him because of some controversies like him skipping practice.
Tyson a décidé qu'il doit essayer plus forte est gagné un championnat tout seul. Tyson a joué les
jeux suivantes comme ils étaient ses dernières. Il a presque toutes les buts pour son équipe, mais ils ne
sont pas admissibles pour les séries éliminatoires. Tyson pensait vraiment dur. Il réalisait qu'il allait besoin
une équipe pour gagner.
Tyson realized that nothing he tried was working so he decided to win the NBA championship by himself.
He played his all of his games like they are his final games. He pretty much had all the points for his team,
but his team didn’t make the playoffs. He realized that he would need a team to win a NBA ring.
Pendant l'été il a parlé avec son entraineur et il s’est rendu compte qu'il avait besoin d'aide, il ne
pouvait pas le faire tout seul. Il a découvert qu'il avait besoin de jouer avec son équipe et pas tout seul et
qu'il devait changer son attitude aux autres. Il devait aller à la pratique et aider aux autres à jouer dans
son équipe.
During the offseason he came to the conclusion that he needed help and that he couldn’t win by himself.
He learned that he needed to play with his team and change his attitude towards others. He realise that
he needed to help his team help him win.
L'équipe de Tyson a commencé la nouvelle saison très bien et ils ont gagné presque tous les
matches. Tyson a dit à sa mère ‘‘Je peux presque imaginer qu'on gagnera le championnat.” ‘‘Tu dois
rester concentré. Tu ne peux pas commence à rester maintenant'' dit sa mère. Mais c'était trop tard pour
Tyson, avec tout son succès il a gagné beaucoup d'argent.
Tysons team started the new season off well winning almost all of their games. Tyson told his mom “ he
can imagine winning the NBA championship”. She told him “ you have to stay focused. You can’t slow
down now.” But it was too late for Tyson, the money started taking over his life.
Comme enfant Tyson n'a pas eu beaucoup donc il a décidé de dépenser son argent et il a
commencé a oublié à propos de basket-ball. Tyson aime son argent trop et il a oublié à propos basketball.
Tyson didn’t have a lot growing up so he decided to spend his money his money. He forgot about
basketball.
Son équipe a perdu presque chaque jeu quand Tyson ne joue pas. Il s’est rendu compte que son
équipe avait besoin de son aide. Il est retourné et il a aidé a son équipe à qualifier pour les finales de la
NBA. C'était sa chance de gagner le trophé qu'il attendait pour toute sa vie.
Tyson stopped playing and his team started losing every game. He realised that his team needed him to
win. With his help the Philadelphia 76ers made the NBA final. It was Tyson’s chance to win the trophie he
always wanted.
Dans les finals Tyson a joué sur un nouveau niveau. Il veut faire tout pour gagner. Il a essayé très
fort. Tyson a joué comme il peut jouer sans une équipe et gagner les matches. Mais dans les dernières
secondes, l'autre équipe a chargees en avant a pris l'avantage et Tyson ne pouvait rien faire. Il semblait
que sont equipe avait perdu les finals de NBA.
In the finals Tyson stated playing on a whole new level. He was willing to do anything to win. He was
trying as hard as he could. It looked like he could win without a team. In the final seconds the other team
charged forward and took the lead and Tyson couldn’t do anything. It looked like his team the Philadelphia
76ers were going to lose.
Tyson a maintenant compris que l'argent n'était pas tout et que de jouer pour l'équipe est le plus
important. Tyson a continué sa carrière dans le NBA et maintenant, il est dans le Hall of Fame.
Tyson learned that money isn’t everything and playing for the team is the most important. Tyson continued
his career and retired a hall of famer.

Northview Heights Secondary School in the
Toronto District School Board. He is in the
gifted athletes program at northview and
enjoys to watch and play basketball. This is
his first published work. He enjoys sharing
stories with others.
