1. En cas de problème pour le dépôt électronique, veuillez vous adresser à la DIS : Mme Enriketa KALLDREMXHIU‐BARBEY, 022 379 71 14, archive‐ouverte‐[email protected]. 07.05.13 DA/SL Publishing your PhD thesis at the University of Geneva Notice There are two distinctive printed versions of a doctoral thesis as follows, 1. The standard « official » version that should be deposed at the Division of Scientific Information (DIS) in two copies. Please notice that the title of Doctor will be only delivered once that the latter is accomplished and validated at the DIS office. 2. The thesis published in the Terre & Environnement (T&E) commercial series with a precise volume number as well as an ISBN number (International Standard Book Number). Steps to follow Once that you have fully accomplished – if any – the changes required by the jury and your thesis advisor has filled and signed the appropriated form you should bring it to the Sécretariat of the Faculté des Sciences that will deliver you the « imprimatur ». When you will have this document the final copy of your thesis will be ready to be printed and further deposed to the appropriated organisms. 1. Printing the thesis The pdf files of your thesis should be bring to ReproMail (Uni Mail), 022 379 95 03, [email protected], http://repromail.unige.ch. Please notice that the thesis text should be brought as two distinctive pdf files: a. The first file will be used to print two copies of the standard version that should include in the second page the « imprimature » delivered and signed by the Dean of the Faculté des Sciences. This version should have neither the T&E volume number nor its ISBN number. No information concerning the commercial collection T&E should be shown (refer to enclosed example). b. The second file will be used to print forty copies of the T&E version that should include the volume and ISBN numbers. Do not include neither the « imprimature » nor the number of the standard thesis. The reference to the collection will only appear in the bottom section of the second page (see enclosed example). In order to obtain both the volume and ISBN numbers of the T&E issue you should contact Mrs. Céline VON TOBEL, 022 379 78 73, [email protected], who will provide you with those numbers and prepare the cover of the printed copy. She will send you back a pdf file containing this cover to fulfil the next step. 2. Depositing the standard version of the thesis Two printed copies along with the original of the imprimatur should be brought to the Division de l’information scientifique (DIS), UNI DUFOUR, secretariat, Office 310, 3rd floor, to Mme Prudence NKOU KURZ, 022 379 72 95. The office is open from Monday to Friday from 08 :30 to 12 :00 and 14 :00 to 17 :00. You will sign a contract precising the mode of difusion of the electronic version. You also need to bring a form ad hoc that indicate the publication mode (more info at : http://www.unige.ch/sciences/Enseignements/ServicesAuxEtudiants/PrestationsDeLaFaculte/Inform ationsDoctorants/ApresSoutenance.html). 3. Depositing the Terre & Environnement (T&E) version of the thesis Forty copies of this version has to be deposed at the Bibliothèque des sciences de la Terre et de l’environnement (BSSTE). Five copies should be paper printed and 35 as CD‐ROM. Alternatively, all requested copies (40) could be deposed as paper printed too. The T&E copies should be delivered to the department where the student has accomplished her/his thesis. It is the student responsibility, or of any other person that she/he has previously assigned, to deliver the forty copies to the BSSTE. The librarian will enter the data in the catalogue (inventory) and two printed copies will be available for consultation at the library reading room. A third copy will be archived at the library without public access as a replacement copy. The two remaining fully printed copies will be send to the Bibliothèque nationale suisse in Bern (BNS) and at the Bibliothèque de Genève (BGE) as legal deposits of the commercial version. The remaining copies (35) will be used within the framework of the existing exchange and/or donation programs with libraries and/or other institutions worldwide (e.g., GEOREF). 4. Deposing the electronic version You should also depose an electronic version of your thesis as a pdf file at the Archive Ouvert of the University of Geneva. You will find all the necessary information to accomplish this task and obtain the degree of Doctor at http://archive‐ouverte.unige.ch under « Déposer un document ». A 150 words abstract should be also entered (compulsory). If you would encounter any troubles concerning this action please contact the DIS office: Mrs Enriketa KALLDREMXHIU‐BARBEY, 022 379 71 14, archive‐ouverte‐[email protected].
