Kerri-Lynn Reeves is an interdisciplinary
artist based in Winnipeg. She grew up
in the Virden area where her family has
farmed for over 130 years. Along with
creating installations and craft based
two- and three-dimensional works, she
has created art projects in collaboration
with various communities. She holds a
Bachelor of Fine Arts-Honours degree
from the University of Manitoba and has
received awards from the Winnipeg and
Manitoba Arts Councils, and the Canada
Council.

RESIDENCY PROJECT
Kerri-Lynn is busy with a new body of
work focused on the idea of “home.”
Having moved away from the land her
family considers home, Kerri-Lynn is
facing the realization that neither she
nor any of her siblings will continue the
family farm. Tentatively called Roots/
Routes, her new work is inspired by
abandoned wasp’s nests. Kerri-Lynn
hopes to find insight and inspiration
from her stay at the Deep Bay cabin to
create her new work which explores
what it means to physically and
psychologically build a home.

Kerri-Lynn will be taking part in the
Park West School Division’s outdoor
classroom. She will be joining 60 grade
six students as they explore nature
through feel and reflection.
Kerri-Lynn Reeves est une artiste
interdisciplinaire établie à Winnipeg.
Elle a grandi dans la région de Virden où
sa famille cultive la terre depuis plus de
130 ans. En plus de créer des installations
et des œuvres bidimensionnelles
et tridimensionnelles fondées sur
l’artisanat, elle a mis en oeuvre des
projets artistiques en collaboration
avec diverses collectivités. Titulaire
d’un baccalauréat spécialisé en beauxarts de l’Université du Manitoba, elle
a bénéficié de subventions du Conseil
des arts de Winnipeg, du Conseil des
arts du Manitoba et du Conseil des Arts
du Canada.
DESCRIPTION DU PROJET
Elle travaille présentement à une série
d’œuvres axées sur l’idée du « foyer ».
S’étant éloignée de la terre familiale,
Kerri-Lynn s’est rendu compte qu’ellemême ou ses frères et sœurs ne
poursuivront pas les activités agricoles
de la ferme familiale. Portant le titre
provisoire de Roots/Routes, sa nouvelle
œuvre est inspirée par des nids de guêpes
abandonnés. Elle espère découvrir des
idées et de l’inspiration au chalet de
Deep Bay et dans le parc national du
Mont-Riding pour explorer le sens de la
construction physique et psychologique
d’un foyer.
SÉRIE RENCONTREZ LES ARTISTES
Le 15 juin
Kerri-Lynn participera à la classe en
plein air de la Division scolaire Park
West. Elle se joindra à 60 élèves de la
6e année pour explorer la nature par le
biais des sensations et de la réflexion.
