BELARUS / BIELORUSSIE / БЕЛАРУСЬ Title (English): Playwright / Auteur: Pavel PRYAZHKO (30/09/1975) Light Breezes Titre (français): Légère brise Title / Titre (original): Legkhoe Dykanie SYNOPSIS (English): The main heroine is an infantile girl-lesbian. She has very small demands in life. She wants to sing free jazz, meet a partner so as to be part of a couple - a girl of her own age, or she could become a home-girl to a wealthy mature woman - and spend every day sitting in a cozy cafe. And while she hasn't met such a person yet, she spends time with another infantile girl of her age, a dominant maletype lesbian. Despite the role the latter girl has chosen for herself, she, like the main character, is an indecisive person, incapable of expressing her grievances to the boss, also a lesbian, until the very end of the play. But unlike those two young girls, the headmistress is a calculating and cynical bitch, who fucks girls to the right and left, spending her free time with former women-prisoners, also lesbians. For her age, this woman is also infantile. The purpose of the text is to reduce the degree of romanticism around the theme of non-traditional sexual relationships and to show lesbians as completely normal everyday people in everyday situations. Their communication efforts in resolving work place issues (the relationship between a subordinate and a headmistress), identification of themselves and determination of their place in the world, everything is presented against the backdrop of post-Soviet realities. It can be perceived as an attempt to make an alternative to such films about non-traditional relationships as the movie "Monster".
