René Mottas started his career in 1981 at the Swiss Bank Corporation in Basel. In 1983, he joined the Private
Banking team. In 1987, he moved to Luxembourg to be Team Head Private Banking.
Mr. Mottas thereafter moved to Singapore, where he was Regional Market Manager South East Asia for Private
Banking. He then moved to Australia, to become Head Private Banking in Sydney for Potter Warburg Securities
Australia. In 1999, he moved to London where he was responsible for several Private Banking related
acquisitions.
In 2000, Mr. Mottas took up the role of Head Product & Sales Management Wealth Management. In 2003, he
joined Clariden Bank as Member of the Executive Board and Head Private Banking Europe. From 2006 to 2009,
Mr. Mottas was CEO of Goldman Sachs Bank AG. In 2009 he returned to UBS where he had different senior
management positions.
