 Nouveauté pour les répits 2012‐2013 Sorties à la Fondation Mira Une invitation spéciale pour un répit spécial! Depuis près de 10 ans, la fondation Mira offre un service d’intervention auprès des enfants qui présentent de multiples déficiences et des personnes handicapées physiques ainsi qu’aux enfants ou adultes présentant un trouble envahissant du développement (TED). Mira offre aussi des services de formation et de soutien à leur parents, leur proches et aux professionnels qui désirent acquérir ou approfondir leurs connaissances. L’approche préconisée est d’apaiser, réconforter, informer et outiller le plus grand nombre possible de familles ayant un enfant présentant un TED. L’attribution de chiens accompagnateurs est au cœur de cette approche. Les services de Schola Mira sont offerts gratuitement à l’enfant présentant un TED et à ses parents. Jusqu’à aujourd’hui Mira a attribué 92 chiens à ce type de clientèle. Depuis sa création, MIRA a donné plus de 2,000 chiens‐guides et chiens d’assistance. Sortie Garagona : Le départ se fera du camp vers 9h30 pour se diriger sur les lieux de la fondation Mira à Sainte‐Madeleine. Un pique‐nique sera offert aux campeurs pour le diner. Nous allons faire une visite de la pouponnière (qui compte plusieurs centaines de chiots) et nous allons terminer la journée à faire des exercices avec des chiens entrainés. Pour les amoureux d’animaux cette activité sera des plus stimulantes. L’activité est sans frais supplémentaires. Vous ne devez pas avoir d’allergies aux chiens pour être admissible à ces répits. The MIRA Foundation has developed an expertise in support services and assistance to people with multiple disabilities through the allocation of service dogs. Since 1981, the Mira Foundation offers to blind people a free and alternative way to compensate for their visual impairment. Since 2002, MIRA has worked toward the establishment of a new service aimed at supporting families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Over the years, the allocation formula and training were improved following the observations and recommendations of the trainers and parents in addition to the findings from the research projects. The first assistance dogs were assigned to families with a child with an ASD in August 2010. The Foundation provides training for both parents and their children aged 12 years and over. To date, 92 dogs have been assigned to families through this new programme. Since it was established in 1981, the MIRA Foundation has donated more than 2000 seeing‐eye dogs and assistance dogs to people living with visual impairments, physical disabilities and pervasive developmental disorders. Garagona Outing: We will leave camp around 9:30 am and make for Sainte‐Madeleine. This trip takes about an hour. We will eat a picnic lunch on the grounds at the MIRA center. We will visit the kennel and nursery (several hundred puppies are raised here each year). We will end our visit outside where we will take part in some games and exercises with well‐trained dogs. This is a fantastic outing for all dog and animal lovers. Each participant will have many opportunities to visit and interact with the amazing MIRA dogs. You must not have any allergies to animals to participate in these special camp sessions. There are 4 dates available: February 22nd, March 11th, April 26th and May 17th.
